i think if you have sex you should be responsible enough to take care of your on mistakes

If you think that a 35 week old fetus and a newborn infant are all that different... you have a lot coming to you.

I could throw that back to you with them being the same. They are different. A fetus is physically dependent on the woman, using and living off her body. A fetus doesn't have a conscious nor emotions and currently, the only way to get rid of the fetus is for it to be killed. An infant is physically independent. He/she has a conscious and emotions and if the woman doesn't want the infant, she can give him/her up for adoption. An infant is a [legal] person, and a fetus is not.

That's what abortion is for.

I disagree that sex is a mistake (except under certain circumstances), but I do agree that responsibility should be taken. Namely by either:

A. Having the child and figuring out what to do from there, or

B. Aborting the child.

Either way, the pregnancy should be dealt with how the person sees fit, and not ignored.

Provided the woman doesn't want the child.

Exactly.

Words on paper can be erased, rewritten, reformed, and changed.

EDIT: It's funny how you jumped from "Scientific" viewpoint to "legal" viewpoint in a single sentence.

I don't see how it's my mistake if my birth control failed me even with perfect use, but all the same, if it did, I can certainly take on the abortion.

Plenty of people today see sex as a sacred, holy act that should be used only in moderation and only for procreation (bullshit logic, but anyways). As such, they seem to think everyone should follow this line of thought and action, and label any rebellious thought or activity as "evil," "immoral," and whatnot.

Eh. Society's full of too many morality-compass freaks.

Who knows. I'm just really bored right now, and don't feel like playing Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. X__x;

....There are almost no differences between a 35-week-old fetus and an infant, except that a fetus is still inside the woman's body. While the fetus is 'technically' physically dependent on the woman's body, it is of no fault to the fetus; were it removed from the woman's body it would commence breathing and eating and digesting and everything else a full-term infant can do on it's own.

I fail to see how the fact that it happens to be in the womb for an extra few weeks makes it any different from an infant.

The difference between say, a 35-week old fetus and a 10 week old fetus is much larger, and I could understand you arguing from the standpoint of a much younger fetus.

Pray tell, how does the legal argument work on aborting a fetus of 35 weeks?
[******** this, I'm off to play SupCom: FA. I hope this thread is more active when I get back.

Many abortions are performed on middle-aged women who are married. How the hell is sex with ones husband a mistake? What if her birth control, which she has been more than compliant with, failed her? I really doubt a married woman is going to say to her husband, "I'm sorry hunny. Having sex with you was a mistake, and so now we have to birth this child neither of us want." Not everyone who has sex without the intent of making babies is a stupid whore you know?

How very pro-life of you, calling a baby a mistake. If I were forced to give birth because you helped tyo make abortion illegal, I would make sure any child I birth would know that it was a mistake and I never wanted it, and that I loved it enough to not bring it into this world. I would also inform that child that due to some fanatics, I was forced to bring this unwanted and unloved child into this world. I believe that if abortion is made illegal, any woman who seeks one should be required by law to tell thier child that they wanted an abortion, if she sought one out. Afterall, we make criminals face thier victims or the families of thier victims.

But I'm sorry if you're so doped up on the Pro-Life Kool-Aid that you fail to see that I AM taking responsibility for my actions by aborting. I'm sorry that it doesn't conform to your narrow vision of what is and is not responsible, and I'm sorry that you feel an unwanted child should be used as a form of punishment to punish a woman for daring to have sex.

One last question for you. Why do you feel it necesary to insert yourself into other people's sex lives?
