I thought it was pretty powerful. Personally I have never been in that situation, and unless you personally have been, don't judge others who are.

Very well, I'll cut to the chase. It is assumed that you used the term 'anti-choice' instead of the more common and widely known term 'pro-life' to describe the pro-life side in a derogatory manner as a way of adding in an extra little potshot against said side. And I thought that that was kinda funny.

Simply put, you made your side look bad by resorting to childish name-calling when it was unneeded.
And you made me realize that attempting to open up a dialog with you would be fruitless as you have already demonstrated an obvious beef with my side and believe us to be a gaggle of slack-jawed imbeciles.

Is that a sufficient explanation?

I'd like to, but I still don't see the need for blatant disrespect to either side. Sure, everyone calls someone names every once in a while, but arguing whether or not it's okay to call lifers 'anti-choice' because technically the term is correct for them is stupid. It's showing them no respect whatsoever, which, despite their views on abortion, there is no reason that they shouldn't receive that, especially in a debate. Ya'll can argue that you don't HAVE to show them respect 'til you're blue in the face; doesn't mean that calling them anti-abortion, anti-choice, anti-women or anything else is going to help their views on pro-choice, and it's not going to get this debate going in a direction that it should.

If someone could explain to me why it's okay to call someone a name that they find derogatory okay, that would be great. Because I still don't understand how it's okay, coming from either side.

if you don't want to be called anti-choice or anti-abortion, don't go around calling pro-choicers pro-death, pro-abortion, anti-life, anti-responsibility, baby-killers, or any other names I forgot to mention. Pro-lifers are in general far more guilty of name-calling than we are.

This topic's been brought up before, but I never see a clear-cut answer from the lifers on this. If abortion was re-illegalized, who should be punished, the woman recieving/seeking, or the doctor performing? What punishment should they get? Prison time? Forced sterilization? Community service? Death penalty?* Choicers or lifers can answer this, although I suppose it would be a bit of a DA for choicers.

I'd suppose they'd get charged for murder and the judge and jury would apply the punishment within the realms of the law. That would usually mean prison time (possibly death is someone sought that punishment. Family of the fetus maybe?).

I'd suppose they'd get charged for murder and the judge and jury would apply the punishment within the realms of the law. That would usually mean prison time (possibly death is someone sought that punishment. Family of the fetus maybe?).

That would require some changing of the law, though, in that they'd have to state somewhere that once a woman is pregnant, she loses all BD rights in regard to the fetus, and they'd also have to grant the fetus personhood.

Dahlia, I think Denz is asking what should the punishment be if abortion was illegal and a woman got one while it was illegal. Not, should women who have gotten abortions in the past be punished for those past actions if abortion were to become illegal.
