Separtion of church and state. It's illegal to not teach Darwinism. But, if you own a private school, want to cripple the children mentally, teach them about a completly unfounded theory because your beliefs and bible speak louder than common knowledge, go ahead and screw with the kids minds. I won't hire them.

a lot of ppl are going to hate me for saying this but... i believe... that evolution is a kind of religion itself...

Is there any reasonning behind that?

Quote:
we do learn creationism in like seventh grade

In a public school? Sue the school.

Quote:
but we also learn evolution in every science class we take (atleast i do).

You learn evolution in physics and chemistry classes? Sue the school.

Quote:
i think students should be informed of both things and given a decision.

Both? Why both?

Quote:
it would not violate the separation of church and state

Sure it would. I'm not paying tax dollars so my children can get preached at.
(Well, I don't live in America, but you understand.)

Quote:
because they arent yelling at you, they arent forcing this belief into you.

That's not the only way freedom of religion is protected.

Quote:
teenagers are old enough to make their own decision.

Apparently not, since they have guardians.

Quote:
evolution is being forced into students

No, it's not.

Quote:
its almost all they are tought.

Why the ******** would you want people to teach an alternative to gravity?

Quote:
AND BTW if evolution is already proven, why are their so many debates in politics about it?

Because politicians are not scientists.

Quote:
if the case is closed, why are important figures in religion still teaching?

What?

notice also how nobody is informed about darwin on his death bed. NO IM NOT GUNNA TRY TO CITE THIS STATEMENT.. ive heard from many ppl (which i know you readers will argue with) that darwin sayed on his death bed that he made it up so he could be accepted to the colleges of his choice.

....
What?
i understand that parents would not want their children to believe in creationism if the parents are aethiests, but shouldn't everyone, including teenagers, be able to make their own decision about what they want to believe in? the smart a** guy who likes to quote my stuff sentence by sentence should realize that not every religious person is stupid and is mentally inferior from aethiests. perhaps YOUR parents told you there was no god and therefore you are now brainwashed into thinking that because you choose not to explore other possibilities. ive found peace in god, and there is no way anyone can tell me otherwise.

People keep talking bout it because they don't think that everything around you pointing to the same conclusion and numerous cases where every known alternative idea is actually impossible means something is proven.

Arguing against evolution is like arguing against germs causing sickness- except that the general public understand one of these things more than the other.

And besides, it's not as if the people in politics know what they're talking about with current issues- remember the net neutrality act?
And it's not like they even know what laws they pass, what with the patriot act and all.

if both are taught, it would be easier for someone to make a mature decision. if somebody who was raised in a Christian school with Christian parents in a Christian neighborhood, they would never agree to evolutionism. but what if they understood both sides of the argument? could they not make a fair decision?

i agree with that, but im a devoted Christian student. what am i supposed to think when teachers are telling me that no matter what i was taught, i am wrong? separation of church and state is good for aethiests but very degrading for christians.

look I have nothing against people seeking alternative explanations for things and believing in whatever they want. The thing is that a public school cant assume a religious position on anything. Thats what it boils down to. And in this day and age if a teenager wants to decide for himself what he wants to believe in he has as much freedom in the world. With the internet and all the free information out there a young person can decide for himself. It is a churchs job to teach its children region. it is the schools job to teach everything else. With both in existence that should in theory satisfy everyone

So we shouldn't allow parents to have their children attend whatever church until a certain age when we introduce them to their parents' religion(s) as well as evolution and let them make a choice as to which they like more?

well thats how the country was founded and what it stands for... and its not even half as degrading as it is to be a Muslim in American society in general.

its not even a matter of "both sides" because if you are going to argue that they should teach creationism then you should include every single creation story that has ever existed... I mean its not just atheists vs christians here.
