There are many different cultural and religious creationism theories, but almost all have a great flood like the one in Genesis. The Christian theory is that God created the earth and man in six days and rested on the seventh day. On the first day God created light and separated it from darkness. He called the light Day, and the darkness Night. On the second day God created an expanse between the waters so that there was water above and water below the expanse. God called the expanse Sky. On the third day God created dry land and plants and trees. On the forth day God made the sun, moon, stars, and planets. On the fifth day God created water animals and birds. On the sixth day God created animals. He also created man and woman and gave them power over the animals of the water, sky, and land (Genesis). Before long the people began to become violent and wicked, so God told Noah, the only righteous person, that there would be a flood to destroy all evil people (and the earth) and only him, his family, and two of every kind of animal would survive. When the flood ended, the landscape of the earth had changed.
There are many opposing arguments to creationism. The Evolution theory and the Big Bang theory hold many of these arguments. Evolution is an anti-creationism theory that says that all living things evolved from a single celled organizm. It is very often taught in public schools, which gives it a factual reputation. One of the main arguments is about how old is the earth. Radio-carbon dating 14 is a system the estimates the age of organic material by looking at the amount of radioactive decay. This system is very accurate, but there is no evidence that the radioactive decay rate today is the same as 1,000,000 years ago. The Big Bang theory states that all matter was in one very compact space for trillions of years. Then it randomly exploded, and the universe was dust and molten lava. For billions of years the dust and lava gathered into planets.
There are several facts dealing with geography that the Big Bang theory and other theories like it cannot prove. one fact is there are very few meteorites in the earth’s strata. Strata are layers of rock laid down over time. This is where dinosaur fossils are found. Thousands of outerspace meteors the size of a pebble to the size of boulders enter the earth’s atmosphere every day. If this has been going on for millions of years there will not be many meteorites in the earth’s strata (Brown). Simple things like this fact have been overlooked by great theories, and simple things like this can destroy great theories. Even Darwin said, “If it could be demonstrated that any complex organ existed which could not possibly have been formed by numerous, successive, slight modifications, my theory would absolutely break down.” (Peterson).
But why does this have any thing to do with the Big Bang theory one might ask. The answer is that this means the earth is young. The Big Bang theory says the earth formed and cooled slowly and it took a long time for it to complete its shape today so there would be meteorites found in the earth’s strata. Unfortunately that is not true. The moon is receding from the earth very slowly. If one rewinds time enough the moon is scraping the earth’s surface. The Big Bang says that the moon was part of the earth and was put into orbit when the earth was still molten. However the angle of the moon’s orbit does not match the angle of the earth’s rotation. in addition the sun is shrinking by five feet per hour. If one goes back a billion years in time, the planets in our solar system would be rapidly sucked into the sun by its emense gravitational pull.
The bible has a lot to do with creationism. In Genesis it says that God made the world and not a random explosion. There are a lot of verses that talk about creation not in Genesis: Exodus 20:11and 31:17, Job 38:4-12, Psalm 104:5, John 1:1-3, Colossians 1:16-17, and Hebrews 1:2. Jesus talks about creation in Mark 10:6 “But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female”. This means that man wasn’t made a billion years after the world was made. In Genesis it says that God made us in his image. This puts humans above all animals and also gives us the ability to reason. This also means that God wants us to worship him and have a relationship with him. If God wanted this to occur He wouldn’t wait a billion years for us to evolve.
The Hydroplate theory is a creationism theory that agrees with the bible and geography. The Hydroplate theory has three phases. It starts with God making the earth. Before any of the phases, the world was semi-connected continents. About 30 miles under the continents was a large layer of subterranean water, its pressure is rapidly increasing. At this time, Noah was standing on his ark.
The first phase is the rapture phase. The water breaks through a small crack, which quickly expands to encircle the entire the earth intersecting itself in the Indian Ocean. As water bursts miles into the sky, the pressure directly under the rapture instantly dropped to almost atmospheric pressure. The earth 30 miles below the earth’s surface quickly started to erode. Eroded particles were instantly shot up into the air. When the particles fell, they quickly buried animals and plants. Because of the pressure decrease in the water, it almost instantly froze these plants and animals, fossilizing them. However some were carried away by the water (Brown).
The second phase is the flood phase. When this phase started, the pressure increased in the giant trench and the temperature of the water rose to near 100F0 . The hot water rose to the top because it was less dense than the cold water. The gases in the pressurized hot water escaped. The carbon dioxide in the water combined with the calcium in the eroded basalt particles, creating huge sheets of limestone. The animals and plants that were not frozen and fossilized were carried away to places like Antarktica (Brown).
The continents started to slide frictionless over the escaping water ending the flood phase and beginning the continental drift phase. The giant trench was now completely eroded, forming the continental slopes. The underlying basalt began to rise, forming the mid-oceanic ridge and pushing the continents downward. When the subterranean water escaped, the continents slowed considerably because of friction. There was a crushing force that caused the continents to compress and fold up and down. The water went down as the continents got taller. The compressing force caused deep trenches and mountain ranges parallel to where they were pushed from. The leftover subterranean water filled the cracks that the crushed granite made. The friction caused by the sliding plates created magma chambers. When the plates settled, Noah came out of his ark with his family, and animals repopulated the earth (Brown).
Therefore Creationism is a valid explanation for how people and the earth were created. Geographical evidence suggests that God created the earth. The bible also states how man and the earth were created. The Hydroplate theory supports both geographical evidence and biblical evidence. The assumptions in the Hydroplate theory are very little compared to the Evolution and Big Bang theories. The assumptions follow along with the bible. The after effects in the Hydroplate theory suggest very much why the earth looks the way it does. No theory can be proven historically or scientifically. No one eye-witnessed the creation except its Creator. The only way is to ask the Creator when one gets to see Him in Heaven.
