I agree that KEEPING the child as a "punishment" isn't right. But I don't believe in abortion. If a woman becomes pregnant and does not want the child, at least give it a chance to live. Living in an orphanage isn't always as bad as not living at all. The baby did not ask to be made, at least give it a chance at life and give birth to it. NO matter the race.

How on earth do you know what not-living feels like?

... Anyway.

I agree with the OP.

It's exactly what I did for the several billion years before I was born. I think I picked up some experience in that time.

For the people that see birth and pregnancy as punishment, it makes me think that there's something wrong with them in the head. It makes me wonder if they even bother the see the woman's side of the story, or are they just blinded by that they see/hear on the outside.

Sure, there are people who think that way, but it doesn't make them any better than the unexpectedly expecting or anyone else for that matter.

I see birth and pregnancy as a blessing. And I'm sure that the young woman would see it that way too if she wanted the child. If not, she could put the child up for adoption or abort if she's really early into pregnancy.

And I think anyone who sees pregnancy as either being nothing but great or nothing but horrible is short sighted.

My sister just found out she's pregnant. She's jazzed, and I'm crazy kinds of happy for her. I can't wait tot find out if it's going to be a boy or a girl so I know what kinds of clothes to but for my niece/nephew. It truly is an amazing thing.

That is, when the child is wanted.

To someone with no support, bad health, no insurance, or a whole host of other things, the prospect of giving birth might not be so great.

It shouldn't be seen in black and white.

Ok, you got a point.

But it doesn't take away from the fact that there's just so much to consider, such as the person's goals and how will the pregnancy affect them in school, work, personal relationships or how the child will be raised in the future.
