Welcome to Gaia! ::

Paranormal Activity did. I believe in ghosts, so that touched home. And probably also the Japanese The Grudge. Been many years since I seen the English version, but it's similar in design to the game series Fatal Frame and Fatal Frame affects me. Only, unlike The Grudge, Fatal Frame hasn't been redone for English audiences. Just translated. Since I hear the Japanese The Grudge is scarier, I can only assume it wasn't just translated.
Aside from those, a few Silent Hill monsters, mostly the game's. Like Scarlet. Horror movies don't really scare me much.

Hands down, Dead Birds.

I don't recommend reading the User Reviews, they tend to spoil the film and not everyone marks their spoilers as spoilers.

Dangerous Demigod

It's hard for me to ever say I tend to laugh through out any "horror" "Thriller" movie I watch. Annoys my friends because I just can't get into them they are usually lame and people make choices in everyone that you know no intelligent person would make so I just can't relate to them I suppose. Plus I am highly desensitized to violence , death, and gore.

I will say that Stephen Kings "It" messed me up for a long time after seeing it when it first came out in 1990, it wasn't that i ever had an aversion to clowns more like the "unknown" that lay just beneath the drain in the shower, so I showered with my eyes open for a very long time.

M. Night's movie "Siqns" is probably the only movie to make me "jump"

ut the craziest , give you that weird feeling through your whole body, mess with your dreams movie I would have to go with "Phantasm" it's a 70's horror/thriller so the film and graphics are just that right amount of creepy. It's actually a series so you can have the experience more than once and I think the second one was a bit better than the first if memory recalls.

Waxworks
was a good movie.

I really enjoyed Sinister and Japanese Film Audition is one of my top favs as well.
Can't wait for It Follows that comes out later this year.
The first two Paranormal Activity movies and The Grudge terrify me, no matter how many times I've seen them. Kairo is a Japanese film that is also super spooky. An American version was made called Pulse, but I only remember it being stupid and not at all similar to the Japanese film.

I have WAY too many, but the two horror movies that'll forever scare the living sh*t outta me would be "The Ring" and "The Grudge". I honestly think they're the same scary b***h, just in different movies, haha. ha... x:

Diamond Bear

The Shining will always continue to freak me out. It's definitely not as gory as contemporary horror films, and not even as scary as the novel it's based on, but seeing Jack Nicholson descend into madness as Jack Torrance is pretty ******** creepy. Also, bathtub chick grosses me out to this day.
I've heard Tusk is also terrifying due to body horror, but I have yet to see it.

Most Japanese horror films also scare me (The Eye, Ju-on, etc.), because they mostly focus on the unseen/corner of your eye fears as opposed to most American/European horror films that think gore = scary.

edit:
28 Days Later is definitely the best zombie film in recent years, because it isn't just a horror film with zombies; it shows that people are just as horrible and terrifying. it's also political and s**t. Makes the Walking Dead a show for babies imo.
The Omen (the original movie with Gregory Peck). omg that film still shivers down my spine. one of the best horror movies ever. It's not necessarily "scary" but I still jump during certain scenes.

None, a horror movie hasn't scared me in years.
I LOVE scary movies, but the only one I can't watch on my own is The Exorcist. The movie just freaks me the hell out! And recent movies, The Conjuring is pretty scary and actually made me scream out a couple of times.

As someone who is not a fan of horror: The Babadook. Except for the last 15 minutes, it is one of the best edge-of-your seat movies I've seen in a few years. The slow build is great, the seeming innocence of the concept of the Babadook juxtaposed with the dark 'walls closing in' feel as the story progresses is amazing. The way it flips a few basic expected horror genre concepts around makes it quite the watch.

most of these movie aren't very scary at all, but they're really good: The Shining is not very scary, but Jack Nicholson's acting is very good plus all the disturbing things in this movie makes it really creepy, like that naked old woman in the bathroom burning_eyes , the original Halloween is not a gory movie, but the thought of Michael Myers stalking you is scary enough for me, Aliens is quite scary, also it has one of the best Female heroine in movie history, The Exorcist, no need to explain this one, The Omen (original) is very scary and the music in this movie makes it even more scary, Child's Play, something about a dirty talking murderous doll who want's to posses a little boy is really creepy to me, The Descent is a movie that will make you feel like you've gone to hell and even when that girl got out of that cave and the movie ends you still feel like you're in hell, The Conjuring is well paced and scary without the unnecessary gore.

honorable mentions: The Woman in Black, Insidious, Mama, Dead Silence, Creep, The Orphanage,
The Cabin in The Woods, Eden Lake.
