Yes. It wasn't even the sex that disturbed me. Sex is fine, and porn is fine. But what disturbed me was how Christian stalked and abused Anna. It wasn't at all BDSM, it was straight up abuse and it was hard for me to watch. It creeped me out and I had nightmares.

The movie is garbage yes, but the characters aren't neccesarrily taken advantage of. It isn't sexual abuse.It's all consensual.

Actually, if you read the book, it is abuse. He repeatedly ignores safewords, violated boudaries, stalks her, gaslights her, emotionally blackmails her and generally follows the text book on emotional and physcal abuse. Pretty much the entire BDSM comminity has come out against the practices shown in that book.

Now porn has always featured really question and sometimes outright illegal stuff. Just look at hentai! But everybody understands that porn is fantasy, that most of those acts would be illegal in real ife. Nobody pretends that porn is "soooo romantic!".

The fact that this has gone main stream, that random housewives and fangirls are squeeing about what a good boyfriend Christian Grey is, and holding thisblatantly abusive relationship up as an ideal of relationships are supposed to be like - The whole thing shows something deeply wrong with us as a society.

The movie wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Sure, he stalked her, but at least he checked in a lot more then I was expecting him to. And all of the sexual things seemed to be pretty consensual. His behavior outside of the bedroom scared me more then his bedroom behavior.

50 Shades of Grey (both books and movie) are over glorifying sexual and physical abuse. Especially violence against women. I have only read passages of the book, and it was absolutely horrendous. didn't read the books and surely won't watch the movie. everything I heard so far didn't really make me want to have anything to do with it. and especially after reading that the two actors didn't get along that well... nope, this doesn't make me want to watch their sex scenes...
I just wished people would simply ignore this. because the success means that there will be a second movie, and I don't really want that.
