Caffeinated Violence
Major flaw with OP's theory. People united under one religion will still kill each other. Need I remind people of the Witch Hunts?
Our division via religion isn't a cause or source of our problems, it is merely an outlet in that people use to project. Religion doesn't start or cause wars. Economics and politics do that, even when they do it in the name of religion.
And even if we were under one religion we would still have all the same problems we have today, except they would have different names.
Just think back to school. When kids wanted to pick on you they did. The reasons were always arbitrary. If you were uncool because you didn't have the right shoes, buying new shoes never helped you save the day. It just became about your toys or your hair or whatever. This is the same scenario. If we don't get to fight over religion humanity will just find something else to fight over.
