Ok folks, I've spent much time in thinking about what to do on any Z-day.

First off, if the outbreak were to occur, my first order of business would be to pile all of my weapons into my dodge ram, along with about 3 weeks of MRE's.

Second, I would gather all of my close friends and relatives, give one in each car a gun, and then head for isolation (yellowstone). There's places in America where a zombie would have to be the luckiest undead thing alive to find us. Once there, I would fortify. Barbed wire scavenged from various fences along the way, wood from the trees, whatever it takes. I would allow no other survivors except those with food and/or guns.

There is enough game in the woods of yellowstone to support hundreds, and with the proper rationing the "colony" could last for several years.

As for pillaging, it would stick to water, food and ammunition. Creature comforts would be useless at a time such as this, sdo to waste time looking for them would only increase the chance of death.

Folks, to be honest, surviving zombie attacks is all about getting away. Getting somewhere where there is nothing to attract them, nothing that they will chase. Places where you can hide well and live comfortably without having to fear going outside.

It's all about preparation.

Great plan. Although what about getting there? How far away do you live from yellowstone? What if the virus, assuming it is a virus or other pathogen gets to the gas stations along the way? What if one car gets lost en route?

I live about 30 hours from yellowstone. And i have gas. Lots. And i live near a scrap yard, so I can add armor/ more covering as necessary. As for the virus at the gas station, I wouldnt stop. My truch can go 30 hours without refuel, and I wont be driving the thing once I get to my destination.

If we lose a car en route... that's a painful thought. But I would go back for it/them. I care about my friends and family enough to risk my life for them. Besides, just an opportunity for more "Z" notches in my AUG.

I have to say that a Katana is your best choice in the way of blades. Although it isn't quite as readily available as some blades, it is by far the most capable. I would most likely run to my local wal-mart when i knew there was an outbreak, and grab a machete. They are fairly common and fairly durable, depending on the brand. While there i would also grab a gun, but that is beside the point. My point is that you can't always have the best, and even though they aren't the best weapons, you common machete will be a fairly dependable, durable blade, that is readily available.

Not to mention the only one that most people will be able to use. I doubt your average citizen has a lifetime of sword training.

Very true.

I'd go with a SOG Seal combat knife, I know how use it, and if they're close enough for me to need it I'm dead anyway.

I'd use a trench spike, Once again, not readily available though. And I just had an idea. What about a Nail gun? I mean, my scout troop used to have a whole box of coiled nails. You could loot a store and get one and the ammo. You could pt the ammo in a back pack and then load it. When you start firing, the ammo feeds to you. And from what I have heard, from twenty feet away, a nail gun could send a nail through a solid 2x4.

I can get a SOG knife readily from any local outdoors store. And they're useful for cutting branches, ropes, fishing lines, and the like.

Do you really want to lug around a compressor for that?

No i meant my trench spike. Aren't there some high powered Co2 Nail guns? Also, a high powered paint ball gun could be lethal. And What store within thirty miles would you loot for supplies?

Ah, good you plan for contingencies. Where would I go? I don't know.... I live in Florida and i have no idea where to go help? I live in the Panhandle. My Idea is head for Woodruff scout reservation in Northern Georgia. Oh and what if one of you team members is infected?

Yeah, but they only go out to 10 feet and have to have specific CO2 tanks.
No, paintballs aren't lethal unless frozen, and then it's from blunt force truama, it wouldn't kill a zombie.

The gun store 3 miles out of town that has a total customer base of 30, Sportsman's Warehouse two towns over, Cabela's two town's over, small gun shop three towns over.

On the compressor, I was thinking maybe putting it on a wagon and rolling it around. Well there was a paint ball field near my house that had a solid piece of plywood. It got a hole put through it by an unfrozen paint ball. The guy had his barrel opened at maximum. The paint ball was traveling at over 1200 FtPS. If you shattered its skull and skull fragments hit it's brain it could kill it. But it isn't reliable enough for me to risk it. So yeah, paint ball guns are out. I would go the the local Bass Pro shop and load up on food, guns and ammo. Is there anything else I could get from Bass Pro for Zombie survival? Maybe a rod and reel for fishing.
Wow, now I don't feels so bad about obsessing over zombie attacks. Everyone I know always calls me a freak for having a backpack full of MRE's, extra clothes, basic neccesities...e.t.c, having supplies in my room in case I somehow get trapped, and sleeping with a sword, two hunting knives, and four pocket knives under my pillow in case I'm attacked....buuut now I feel alot better.

Just hang a human head from the rod and use it to get their attention away from yourself.
Actually a baited rod would be useful if you are in a slow moving vehicle, it would probably take some of the crowd away from yourself.

Steal my mother's car and either try to get out of the city while avoiding confrontation, or baracade myself in my grandparents' house out in the country. They have a sort of....bomb shelter with lots of stuff to protect yourself with, things and such of that manner.
I am actually well prepared. I live in the country, am an avid hunter ( mostly small stuff, so I am more accurate), collect functional melee weaponry, have a large(40' X 50') , metal storage building with a large supply of food, a gas well on my property, a nearly limitless supply of firewood ( I live in the country, we have woods) A well for water, I have a good deal of camping gear, and have access to ATv's, dirtbikes, etc. I also have a 38 foot motor home. It is very heavily built, and would be great for escaping almost anything, and is always stocked with canned and dried foods, as well as a propane supply. I am in decent shape, relatively competent with a compound bow and my house is well stocked with medical supplies because my Dad is a quadriplegic. I am able to survive off the land for extended periods, and will not hesitate to destroy any that get in the way of my survival. Also, as for stores to loot, I have two grocery stores within 8 miles, and 9 gun shops that can be reached in 15 minutes or less of fast driving.
