Yes, but, HOW could you be potentially infected? Being touched by a zombie? Scratched? Bitten? Just being NEAR the zombie?

Fine, how about a chainsaw rocket launcher?

That is expendable talk.

The objective of this thread is to discuss how we will survive this outbreak. Therefore keep things realistic.

Think about it.You using a chainsaw causes you to get splattered with
the undead's infected entrails. This if not properly protected could lead to you getting infected therefore becoming undead. How?
The splatter could get in your eyes or your mouth,or any open wounds for that matter. Therefore letting the virus into your blood stream.

Being Bitten or scratched could lead to infection as well.

I'd be working and welding armor like crazy, save if the group was sparing supplies.

Ever see the Gears Of War armor?
Let's see a Zombie bite through that...

The Chainsaw.
The idol of all zombie killers, efficeint, satisfieing, and ammunition conservative.

Yeah, i'd be ripping ideas off from that game like it was the thing to do.
If it was for the long-term, anyway.

Just as I have a moment of joy you sir, strike it down.
*sighs*
The Chainsaw Is not an effective zombie killing weapon.
Why?

1.Too much noise.
2.One slip of the blade and you ******** yourself
3.It requires Gasoline or electricity.
4.It is rather cumbersome

A chainsaw would only be effective in a few situations other than these.
A chainsaw is a very very VERY bad idea.

Ok, ok...
I'll admit it has alot of flaws,
and you can strike effective and efficient off the perks list. (Sorta...)

...but don't lie, it would be one of the most satisfying things to do, ever.
It'd boost my morale like crazy.
(That's not neccisarily a good thing, depending on the level.)

I'd train with it, as well as probobly weld it onto the bottom of a gun. Mess with the mechanics to have an extra trigger to rev and start it up.

xd Yeah, i'm just kidding, the chainsaw is a horrible idea, now that you pointed it out to me.

Flaws:
--[START]--

(1)-Noisy

(2)-Cumbersome

(3)-If you did succesfully chainsaw a zombie, you would get their blood all over you, probobly in your eyes, mouth, etc, causing whatever is in their blood to mix with your own.

(4)-It is probobly combersome. (There is a point I want to make about that.)(I say probobly because I have held one.)

(5)-Gasoline and Electricity. (Conserve yeah the resource, I know.)

(6)-If your surrounded by zombies, the chainsaw would take too much time per zombie, and you'll likely get bitten if your in the middle of chainsawing one.

--[END]--

Although, the slip one flaw that you mentioned would be at fault of the user. So, I don't think i'll add that to my list, due to the that fact.

Perks:
--[START]--

(1)-Excellant CQC weapon. (Save for a larger group...) 1-2 Z's.

--[END]--

There is probobly more perks, but that's the only one I can think of.
(I was going to put morale booster, but it's more like a blood-thirst quencher. xd )

Let's just keep the Chainsaw in Gears Of War.
Although the armor, see any flaws with that?

I am proud of the thread, and all who are in it.....
except the expendables. stare
I am even more appalled that a chainsaw has yet to be mentioned.
This make me very happy. 3nodding

oh......sorry. sweatdrop
Just happy as hell. smile

Woah... eek
That's twice. eek
I didn't read this before I posted that chainsaw bit. eek

Naw, naw, I saw a blueprint for it before. I'm for serious. It's somewhere around here.... I'd be a b***h to carry, though.

Aight, aight. I'm not sure what level we're talking at. Different kind of zombies - take Radioactives, for instance - wouldn't they be, y'know, radioactive? Just being near them could cause mutation.

(and forgive my expendable talk, it's three in the morning over here.)

Unless the military creates a real version of the lancer then
I highly doubt it.

Remember we will be caught with out pants down, figuratively, hell maybe even literally.

We will have a moments notice to obtain our supplies and to begin
our long and tedious endeavor to survive.

although the concept would kick so much a**, same with a gun blade, but its still a chainsaw.
You'll still get splattered.

as for some sort of Cog armor......well.....it would protect the neck[depending on which your going by]
but its the same as the lancer.
If your going to go as far as that hell wish for a hammer of dawn.
problem solved.

But this is reality so.......yeah.

Same here, 3:11 to be exact.
xd

You have read the OP right?
We are talking of the biological zombie not radioactive,or any other for that matter.

To Xenos: Rofl no, although that would be badass to enter others minds.

I read it, but I thought it was only like 'don't go out of your way to be all big and long on radioactive zombies'.

You're holding your sleep better'n me - much better. Although it doesn't help that I've been up since six o'clock in the morning and I didn't get my afternoon rest.

...

ZOMBIES DON'T HAPPEN NOW PLEASE.

lol, 32 hours straight, and counting. xd

They will appear when you least expect them. Lol
Although I would hate it as well if it did happen now.
The only good thing is I can steal a boat and anchor myself and my family(after we have our provisions of course) in the freshwater lake I live on.That is really the only advantage I have, the other is living in a rural area, which has its pro's and con's.

Hahahah!
The armor I was speaking isn't that far off from possiblity.
Raid a metel shop, bend it, curve it, that way you will have like a metalic second skin, but I said in the long run. I wasn't speaking of the initial phase, i'm speaking of retrieval missions for items that will give you somewhat of a higher advantage.

...although, this is kinda playing though my head over and over:
You've seen the movies about this. How they always go into a place that's been abandonded, but... (unlike moveis) their would still be other people alive (If not, then it would be the third possibilty that you'll see in a second.). I picture walking into like Home Depot and seeing three possibliities. One of them being like the movie, it being abandonded and zombies waiting to ambush you(like were used to seeing.). The othere, is people that are probobly infected, running around the store scavaging for supplies and items of use, possibly infecting you simply for breathing in the area. And the third, it being filled with zombies... just hordes of them.

I have no idea where that thought came from, or if it's even a question, but it's just a thought i'm having. Don't know why, felt like sharing it. confused

Oh wait, now I remember. It was about the retrieval missions. If the entire city was infected... how would you stay alive. All these fortification and mobile stuff is great, but there is alot of people in one city. Think of a mosh pit. How would you be mobile through that, or if your fortified at a location, you know the doors are going to break down eventually. (Unless you end up in a high tech military instalation designed for something like this... never know.)

o.o
I bow to you. My god, you must be close to a zombie yourself!

I don't know of any advantages for myself, really. I live in South Jersey, right next to a pretty big park and rather near the Pine Barrens. We (meaning family) could lose ourselves in there.

... naa. What about the ocean? Stock a boat full of provisions and stay out for a week or two?

... ********, do you think zombies can swim?

lol, another possibility that many forget is that there are other survivors, but they are hostile.
Which scares the hell out of me because I know it to be true.
Humans are greedy, they would rather have mounds of extra s**t than
just enough to survive.

Gentlemen, play Psychonauts.

I think we'd either kinda get static/white noise, or, of course, the chorus of 'brains'.

lol, I haven't been on the computer the whole time. xd
The ocean I would say no.
Open water is a no,In my opinion anyway.

and no a zombie cannot swim or do complex tasks for that matter.
You also have to remember that this would last for at least 3 years.
and thats in specific areas. You would pretty much be waiting until the undead are so decomposed that they fall apart.Even if we survived the 3 + years we could still be infected.

anywho I'm off to bed.
