wow, this thread explains exactly how i feel. Kinda ripped off!
Gaia statuses when i first joined were because of effort, but now you can just buy your way into gaia elitism. that very thought drove me to give away 99% of my gaia inventory & quit. i eventually came back just to stay in touch with some friends and the site has gotten even worse. anything cash involved except the MCs has ruined it.

thats not true. I've already proven you can get passed as an elistist without being rich. I've had this avi for over a year. I just pool gold and horde items. It's all how you act in Gaia.

And that's what the poster you quoted is talking about, I believe. That the amount of time you invest in playing the site and improving your avatar doesn't matter, because you can get the same/better items by investing some real cash and not worry about actually playing.

You may find that okay, which is perfectly fine. But not everyone seem to agree on the issue. And honestly, it's really just a matter of opinion.

I really wonder if Lanzer feels like a God- He and his friends created this site as a forum, at first, not knowing how it would go. Thier creation ran, spread out and grew, and the site could not keep up. Gaia, once a flourishing Eden, became towns, guilds, more forums. We learned how to fish, how to hunt. But the people became careless- they sinned against thier creators, cybering, hacking, trolling. Gaia began to die. No matter what the creators did they could not control thier creation and eventually gave in to thier demands, only being able to guess at the peoples desires. They could not speak out to tell thier users that there was little they could do- that they were trying to make the site a better place, but in doing so hurt others. As the older users were eclipsed by the newer, younger users, Lanzer looked out at his domain, saw the dilapidated towns, the sordid affairs of youths and the growing masses and thier displeasure. He looked and he wept.


PS: Ninjaking333- They cannot actually delete users, at it screws up the entire sites coding.

He may have created this place but they should have some plan to deal with this. I know its difficult for people to accept that they should have forseen this. A bit critical when we couldn't do it ourselves but they created the site they should accept the responsibility.


Amazing how much they can do. Adding hundreds of new features. I personally have been on the zOMG beta and have seen what they can do when they put their mind to it.

Like I said, they created this site in 2003 for a few of thier friends and them to hang out on. It grew and they tweaked the coding as much as possible. The coding is to the point where it will break- and while I know they can do it, you don't realise how limited thier resources are. They hire new people and call in favors to release new things, but they won't even completely fix the old system because it would kill everything else. One hour of downtime puts Gaia into turmoil.

I'd imagine Gaia is like a train careening along the tracks- unsure of its destination and if it will ever stop once it gets there. Right now its easier to please the growing masses with new things rather then fixing the old, because, lets face it. "We didn't have enough updates" was one thing people complained about. Its a lose-lose situation. Gaia can be praised in that its a wonderfully rendered image of a real-life wold in miniature.

I know the backstory and I can understand there motives but ffs there comes a point where you should say screw the turmoil we can deal with and get the downtime in so you can actually fix the site. Stop running it into the ground and do whats feasible.

And you may say that but it was the GDG that asked for updates not the people in this thread. We represent a demographic who feels betrayed and respecting our views would be a smart move don't you think? For example the War Bonus Marchers were asking something unfeasible from their government and yet you would still sympathise with them.

Some strikes a nerver with me, actually most does cuz i have been here a while, it annoyed me when the changes started cuz some of them kinda had little point and its just gotten more annoying since -_-

they need to shape up a bit, its not like its that hard to listen in a time or to and get some opinions.

While I appreciate the fact that "samarai" and "Ninja king" are both throwing mud at each other, Neither are in right decorum. In truth, Most of us are not at a place where we can judge. How many of us know what it's like to start something and know you can never stop it? How many people have millions of people looking to them for support and activity?

There needs to be change, yes, but getting in the admins faces and telling them they don't care... thats like a child telling thier mother that they don't love them because they weren't born blonde or with straight teeth. Its asinine.

You CAN buy NX cash for Maplestory but you dont HAVE to.
Its the user's discision not Gaia's
And for people going "You can buy yourway to the top"
Your gold worth isn't what makes you at the top. It's how you act and stuff. I call people with 200m+ avis noob. =/
I mean people like me merchant and get 800m by working for it. Like I buy MCs for low prices (they were 4k back then) and now theyre over 150m+ (in some cases) But still. You can get rich without spending money. It's all up to you. Worth doesn't define a person.

Did you read the whole post? Youre commenting on a few issues, and not in a very mature way. Dont toss the word noob around, most of us here have played for years. Ive played since 03, your the one acting like a noob with those kind of 1 sided no detail responses. We dont need these kind of comments in a place that is trying to make gaia better for everyone.

Just fyi... they do have scheduled downtime occassionally (usually in the wee hours of the night/morning).
