Welcome to Gaia! ::

Okay, this is getting OLD.

I have mentioned, elsewhere, but it bears repeating on the offhand chance an admin ever sees this.

I personally (and I know I'm not the ONLY one, but...) I personally don't give a DAMN about ZOMG. There are OTHER uses on this site who don't give a damn about ZOMG. QUIT DUMPING 100% OF YOUR RESOURCES INTO ONE FEATURE OF THE SITE!! LET'S START FIXING SOME GLITCHES SO USERS CAN ACTUALLY USE THE SITE.

Just a suggestion. Would like you to know that you're losing money. I am not just some crazy loose cannon. This is absurd. And the ONLY reason I HAVEN'T left at this point is because I HAVE invested money. Well, that's over. And I've got at least two friends on my list who are in the process of leaving Gaia. That's just me. How many others could share similar stories, and how many others would admit that they aren't spending another red cent with you, ever again? Please explain to me how this is good business practice, or let someone who understands how commerce works (Since money is all you lot seem to care about, anymore) come in to run your company. Whoever is currently doing so is obviously inept.

I agree with you that we should wait for a while to see just what Gaia does, but there's also a major fact in this that if Gaia had taken more time to sift out problems in things such as Zomg and EI's, then they wouldn't need to worry about fixing them now. Generally there is a lot that can be blamed on them in the form of not fixing issues, or at least not in a timely manner. That's not saying that it's all their fault, as I've heard that in SOME cases they were trying to meet the users demands. However, what it is saying is that they didn't take the time to really think out what could be the effects of things they did beforehand. That puts at least majority of the blame on Gaia, but that doesn't mean that they're not trying to fix it. The point is that if they had thought out what problems could arise from doing things such as making tons of fortune eggs, or releasing Zomg early, then they wouldn't be caught up with all the problems in the present.

By making complaints such as this I feel that we may at least attract attention to the issues. While I see this is something you don't agree to, it is something I believe in. I believe Gaia can change for the better WITH help from the users.

I do agree with the whole "Take it upon yourself to fix it" thing that I saw earlier, but that seems like an impossibility for an online community. I mean, who would move to where the company's HQ is just in order to apply for a job to help fix these problems just to have your resume denied? Even if you'd get the job, you'd be a subordinate, working under someone else who made the calls. Would this increase your chances of being listened to? Sure, as you'd be in the same company. It's more like, would the company bigwigs listen to you? There's a big differance between listening, and actually hearing what someone says. So, why go so far just to have your opinions and suggestions trampled when you can make a suggestion online and not have to?

EDIT: I find it a bit disgraceful that they're advertising the fortune eggs, something that this post is technically against, in the top right above the topic. I mean honestly, how many places do they need to cover with crap to try and get attention? Yes, I know it's in ALL the topics. Point being, is that really freaking necessary?

Ah, sorry, I would have responded to you earlier, but I was a little busy and didn't notice a new post in the thread.. Yeah, things could have been handled far better, problems could have been avoided and etcetera. Truly, a little foresight can go a very long way.

Also, I agree with the idea of the thread. Calling attention to problems is, naturally, the first step in correcting them, and there is influence in numbers. Sometimes being discontent is all it takes if you have enough people. Though honestly, at this point, I'm not exactly sure how much influence the users have as a whole on significant matters. I would like to think that it's a decent amount.

I've just one thing to say, (because, really, I was kind of half-expecting a 15$ item to pop up sooner or later..)

"Starter Bundle"? And then it's in the Cash Shop? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a Starter Set/Bundle, to have to pay for it?

If you're getting a Tiki Set or a Demon Set, you're getting that set, and you're paying for it. But.. Starter Bundle/Set? What the..? Why even pay for a random assortment of items that aren't much use to you when you can get a full set of s**t?

I mean, if you're going to spend your money on it, you're going to spend your money on it to get the good stuff. Starter Set/Bundle, and have to pay for it..?

I'd imagine that it'd be just a teaser of free items. (Or, are they really, and can I not tell? The Cash Shop no longer loads for me, and neither does the Aquarium so I can't really tell beyond what the Announcement clues to.)

    .. I don't get it.

- Bannings

- Though this somewhat goes hand in hand with moderation, we have a big concern about the mass bannings. We should not be afraid of participating in the website, fearing that we'll be banned when we've done nothing wrong. Mass bannings should not happen unless you have substantial evidence that it wasn't just your screw up. On top of that, you should be able to immediately unban those there were unfairly banned. To ban someone that was truthfully innocent, and then never unban them is wrong, especially when it's usually a committed, paying customer. This leads us to further think you don't care about your loyal, dedicated users. If you think someone has a hacked or botted item, don't immediately ban them, but try to figure out where the item came from first. A lot of people - even those that pay the insane cash shop prices for you - are banned unfairly over this every day. We should not be afraid to accept generosity. Now I'm hearing stories about users that were banned unfairly, and are being told that they'll never be unbanned, even if found to be innocent. What is that? That's not fair at all.

---> GMWe don't ban people for hacking, scamming and the likes without sufficient evidence. In the rare occasions when innocent users are banned, there is a mechanism for appeal. We take no joy in banning innocent users - why would we?

This is obviously a lie, you Devs and MoD's do ban innocent members and keep them banned, and its sickening. I was the one that was hacked on my old accound and yet you banned ME for it? Your sick and twisted man to say you dont ban people with sufficient evidence, your just to lazy to properly do your job and lie to your members about your sick truth. So honestly, stop bull shitting your users because I'm sure many have gone through the same problem.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, but while I was looking up a price of one of the MTV Shop (Sunset Couture) items, I noticed that the new item MTV Hills Friendship Bracelet is 299 Gaia Cash. I think the idea of a friendship bracelet is cute, but why not have it as a gold price as well? Better yet, a gold price AND a lower Cash Price.

Edit: Same goes for that Hills dog, Chloe was it? I, personally, don't like the MTV bits on Gaia, but I know that there are many users who collect the animal items and plushies. It's a bit sad that those who strive to do so might not get this dog, due to the Cash-only price. On top of that, I'm sure the Marketplace price has to be an arm an a leg, though I'm not certain. I think it's just a bit cruel. *Shrugs.*

Actually... I don't really have much of a problem with those bundles. The Starter Bundle is $5. It includes the Bubbler, which they normally sell for the way too expensive $4. It also includes the Tiki Head ($1), Knight Gear ($1.50), "four town backgrounds" (I'm assuming the Barton, Gambino, Durem, and Aekea backgrounds, $.25 each, or $1 total), and $6 worth of fish. In other words, the $5 Starter Bundle would cost $13.50 separately.

Far East Bundle? The Dragon is $3, the Pavilion is $4, the Lantern is $1.50, and the China background is $1.50. Plus the Bamboo ($.25 each, quantity unknown) and Clouds ($.50 each, again quantity unknown), plus $9.50 in fish. $10 for over $20 worth of stuff.

Fish Bundle? Well, the announcement doesn't say everything that's in it. But it's $15 (way too much for a single item, though), and I know you get a Hamuhamu ($4 (way, way too much)), Lazor Fish ($3), Jellyfish ($3), Seahorse ($2), and Starfish ($3), plus seven other unspecified fish. Not counting those seven fish, it's already $15 worth.

Personally, I think this is a GOOD thing. They're actually giving us a sale on Cash items! Maybe if these do well enough, they'll realize that they are, indeed, charging us too much for Cash-only items. I may just get a Starter and/or Far East Bundle. (I won't buy the Fish Bundle, as I still won't pay real money for virtual fish that are going to die eventually; even discounting the fish, the other two Bundles represent savings over the individual prices; I can view the Starter Bundle as $7.50 worth of stuff for $5, with $6 in fish thrown in for free, for example.)

But maybe that's just me...

Actually, doing a quick search on the Marketplace, the Buy Now prices on Chloe range from 18,500 to 40,000 gold. All things considered, that's probably not too bad..

But $3 for that bracelet (it also can be used as a "friend" to stand next to your avatar) is more than a little ridiculous...

As I said, the Devs are good people I'm sure. But it's hard to 'give them time' when for the years I have been on this site, all I have ever heard when there is a problem, is 'give them time'. I am sure you can see how tired and redudant such a statement would become after so long. Users DID try to help and we DID try to assist them, and those issues were ignored. The simple fact is without a server wipe they CANT fix it, there are so many people glitched, that sifting through every account and adjusting it would just be a huge waste of time.

About the other subjects-
Astaisia, Sagger is a Dev, and I think we've all seen by now how the communication through Gaia generally isn't the utmost efficiency. You can ask three members of Gaia's staff and get four different responses.
Everyone knows someone who's been on the wrong end of the ban stick. All too often, accounts that are the victims of hackings are banned, because the hacker would then use that account to hack through.

I'm not trying to say Gaia never makes mistakes. They do. But you can't expect anyone from Gaia to know more than their job entails- They really seem to have issues with communication. The issue is also that in some cases if they record your ban reason as hacking/scamming etc you just arent eligible to be unbanned or so I have heard.

I don't want to defend them, honestly I dont- but theres no reason to get upset over it. I'm not sure what you could do about it since technically NO banning is unfair via the TOS clause that stipulates Gaia Online can terminate your account at any time for any reason.
I don't have a problem with the bundles per-say. BUT I know that they've broken the $10 point. If this bundle (or other bundles) were the only items to hit $15 then I wouldn't mind, but You just know that after this they're going to release new EIs for $15 and thats going to suck.

Eh, my issue is just the fact that one cash = one us cent.
If the exchange was higher I think we'd all be happy, but it seems that will never change. I suppose its something to make peace with.
yeah there's no way they are going to reduce the exchange rate, most the management could find itself doing would be lowering prices, which I'm not expecting lol I mean, if EI's were about 3 or even four dollars on average, I'd be happy, but if we got the average price of all EI's to date, it'd prolly be close to $8

The thing that upsets me the most about the fish sets is that as long as I've been here (not very long by some standards) there has never been an attempt to do the same with the holiday store updates. I'm not saying like going to three or four shops and buying a whole set, I mean having a good quality, slightly more expensive clothing, or item, or house, or whatever set. I just think someone should come up with something similar for everyone else.

I reported a post for spam about a week ago and the mod just told me that they'd deal with it if there became more spam than regular posts.

Wait... so we've been told basically that if we report people who run into the thread and spam it, they won't do anything about it until the spam posts outnumber the regular posts, at which point in time, the solution will probably be to CB the thread again?

-_-;;;;
