So how does that affect your relationships, choices of partners, etc? Do you find it easier to be in a more toned down or even a vanilla relationship by being a switch?

Well Aahz, as a 24/7 Dom, here is a few questions for you. How does being a switch impact your day to day life? If I remember correctly you're just a bedroom switch, correct? So how does that affect your relationships, choices of partners, etc? Do you find it easier to be in a more toned down or even a vanilla relationship by being a switch?

Absolutely not. I get bored very easily with relationships if there isn't something going on. My last girlfriend and I never had sex, but it was one of the hottest relationships I had because of the things we did together. Light bondage, biting, scratching, paddling. As a switch, I basically want to find someone who is decided one way or the other, and fit their personality and likes as best I can.
I honestly get no bigger turn on then doing whatever the woman wants of me. If she wants me controlling, and to toss her around and tie her up, that's fine. I get off on fulfilling her fantasy. If she wants to dominate me, whip me, and make me follow orders, that's fine too. As long as I know that she is getting what she wants.

I think Slasher and I already asked about how he found out he was a Dom, but that's soooo many pages ago I can't remember where it was and I don't have enough concentration power to find it.

Ok, gonna have to re type my response since I hit the back button....

I was born this way, and have at some level known of my Dominant personality all my life. When I was a little kid I was always told how smart, perceptive, and mature I was. This tended to scare most of the adults that met me since I acted more like them than a child. When I was 12 going 13 I started to realize that I had the ability to manipulate people around me and make them bend to see my viewpoint as their own. I started to consciously practice it on my friends and groups I hung out with. I was always the the leader, even as the 'new guy'. There was very rarely, if ever, a power struggle for this position since I would usually just manipulate the accepted leader. It was kinda like how the Shogunate government of Japan was run, they were the figurehead, but I was the shadowy figure behind them calling all the shots, somehow it was rarely noticed I really don't know how. I didn't start bringing it into my "bedroom" life until I was about 19 when I started to be involved with the BDS&M community thanks to some friends I met at a LARP and a club in Providence RI. I learned alot more about myself as I opened up to that aspect of my nature. My friends tricked me into being Dommed by our friend, a professional Dominatrix and Amazon, but after almost a full hour of her whipping, beating, and trying to torture me I finally looked at her and asked "Are you done yet? Cause I'm really kinda bored.." *LOL* That shocked the hell out of everyone at the party and I became known as "too much of a Dom to ever be a sub".
As for how it is to be 24/7. Well when I was civilian it was a pretty easy. Well not easy.. More like just more natural. Pretty much all of my relationships since turning 19 have been mildly 24/7 in day to day and heavy in bed at least. I simply can't bring myself to be in a vanilla relationship for longer than a few days at max. I have plenty of friends that are vanilla and we get along great. But I'm very very territorial and have a big animalistic streak, so friends are fine with my protectiveness. But in a vanilla relationship it's pretty overbearing, even if I try to tone it down. Eventually I just get fed up with it and break it off because of the incompatability.
Now in day to day life, it's a bit different. At certain times friends have seen me and sworn I was acting in a submissive manner, when I was simply being very polite, for instance when talking to a cop. (*Note, NEVER try to manipulate a cop! Just be polite.) And they start making fun of me for 'cow-towing, bowing and scrapping'. Until I remind them of my body language, that I kept eye contact, kept my voice level, sharp and assertive. And that I got off without any reprecussions! *LOL* That would usually shut them up. But being a 24/7 Dom is definitely about being flexible and adaptable. Knowing when you can get away with what, on an instinctual level and being able to get into anyone's head at any time. It can take alot of care, and alot of hard work to maintain your self image as a normal member of society during the day, while still remaining true to that nature. Hope that answers your question.

Before you got into the BDS&M community, what were your vanilla relationships like?

Mine SUmner? I didn't have any. I lost my virginity when I was 13, and then went through 6 years of self imposed celebacy. Never had a girlfriend until I turned 19, so all I've ever had before I got into the community were friendships. *shrugs*
