Um..no duh? Do you have even the slightest idea of how much it costs just to HOST any sort of multi-player game online, much less one that will likely be used by 70,000+ people at any given moment? Not only are they hosting this game on their own server (which also hosts a dozen other games, hundreds of forum topics with thousands of individual posts, countless inventory items, avatars, private messeges, comments, personalized homepages, etc., etc., etc., back to the point already) not only are they hosting this game themselves, they're DEVELOPING it themselves. You're looking at a process that is going to cost Gaia, at the very least, half a million dollars from start to finish, plus constant maintanence expenses. And you're all whining about two and a half frikkin' dollars for an MC?

do you want to know how much it will cost me to have a mediocre MC right now? It's not gonna be 2.5 dollards. It's gonna be around 350 pesos.

Gaia is international, not only for the US, you block-head, and to get a mediocre item, that I could design in about five minutes myself (yes I'm got at it and not afraid to say so) for 350 pesos... Please, stop thinking like gaia does: only about yourself...

Also, you can't say it's that costly to host a server for an MMO... given that there's LOADS OF FREE RAGNAROK SERVERS LAYING AROUND. I coudl swim in all the servers that are laying around. Granted, they only host the server for a game you should actually pay for...yet, it's free and they keep running with thousands of users and only being alive by donations...

Gaia used to be a place where we could hang out and be happy and refresh, where we coudl disscuss our interests, and that was happy with our willing and joyful contributions by the way of "Donation Items". How can many server owners run on donations alone? Because they actually take their job at heart and do it with professionalism, not forgetting taht without teh donations... they woudl be virtual dust...

Maybe you'll "deal with it quietly", but that's because you're a lamb, no less, who will get milked and squeezed till the last cent falls off you just because you think of gaia owners as saintly people... when they can't even keep a simple promise: GAIA WILL BE FREE FOREVER...

It's not gaia's fault that you pay that much. It's where your at. I'm not blaiming anybody, but guying has alot of weight on their shoulders. I don't blaim them. God, I bet ALL the workers there have to pay off it all with their own money. And it still might not be enough. I think thats why gaia opened the cash shop for fish. : P

I'm sorry but i'm going to have to take gaia's side on this. To run a site like this it cost alot. It cost money just to have a domain like .com then they have to pay alot fot hosting space because like I said before. This is a huge site! Then having all those games. And i'm sure they have payed staff that works on the site. I'm not talking about the mods... like artist and people who code this. If they don't put all this stuff on here that costs money, they'll have to close down the site! And professional programs like photoshop, etc. is expensive! Gaia did'nt force anyone to pay! Gaia never told you that you had to pay! Gaia just needs the money. Seriously if gaia just asked for only donations and not cash and etc. do you think anyone would pay? I mean yeah people buy mcs but that's because they get something out of it. So what, you have to spend 2.50 on a mc so you have to pay for cash awww and we have to pay for fish D : Why is'nt it free? Dx Because gaia cost money! And I dought people would just donate if gaia did'nt have cash or etc. Gaia might of been a place for users to just hang out, but guess what? Gaia is a populer big site now! So yeah they're goning to need some money. And if you loved gaia as much as you say you do then why not support it? And you don't even have to pay for cash items or fish! Just freaken buy them in the market place! Gawww. So you have to work harder. Who cares! Noobs should be the one's caomplaining about not getting they're items free! I saved for my coco, I did'nt for it and sign pepititions wondering why I had to work and not just get it free! I don't know, mabey instead of asking gaia to stop just ask to lower some of thier prices?

It should be known that Gaia uses the money we pay to update the site and give us a better quality site and to pay for their employees, but this is just too much. Noobs with cash just buy and sell and become instantly rich, while us hard-working non-rich people need years until we get to the hundred thousands.

Um, no. No it is not too much. I'd be willing to bet they're still struggling to keep up wit htheir expenses. And you want to complain about noobs and get-rich-quick schemes ripping off the hard working individuals on this site? Damn near everyone who's said more than "I sign" in this topic have basically said nothing mroe than "I'm too damn lazy to earn enoguh gold to 'buy' this stuff with free money." And seriously, complaining this much about people getting wealthier than you with artificial cyber-money? How about all the middle-class people working themselves to their freakin' bones on a daily basis and having to constantly figure out which bills they can and can't pay each month and whether or not they can survive without electricity or heat more easily while some fat, lazy, beer-swilling, wife-beating pile of trash sits in front of his plasma screen HDTV after driving back from the bar in his brand new Mustang and waiting for Uncle Sam to send him another "disability"" check for his stubbed toe. Now THAT is something to complain about. THAT is something to petition about. THAT is something to be up in arms over. THAT is something that needs to change. Whether an online community uses methods you approve of to raise enough funds to remain viable...that's just being a whiney brat screaming to get his(or her) way. You all need to get passed yourselves and realize that no matter how much you might want to escape reality, the simple fact is there are aspects that you cannot escape. You really want to get away form the real world? Back away form the computer, go to your local library, and pick up a good book. Otherwise, learn to deal with things the way they are. And do it quietly.

Hmm... my retort to this is... what the hell does middle-class and poverty have to do with the online world? We're talking Gaia here. Don't bring up topics that bear no importance to the subject at hand. It makes you look arrogant, like you know everything. Which you do not. Nobody knows everything, so I suggest for you not to act in such a manor.

Also, we the signers aren't trying to be stupid or lazy, we're just starting to see a pattern that will lead Gaia down the road of no return. Or just a very hard place to do a u-turn. Do you really want to play on a site that is just money based, and you can't really do all that much unless you pay? Is it so wrong that we'd want to stop that? We love Gaia, we really do. We know what it is, how it used to be. Sure, the economy is bad, but it's the internet. Seriously. Stop making up money figures like, "IT COST HALF A MILLION DOLLARS TO MAKE SOMETHING VIRTUAL THAT'S... YOU KNOW... NOT REAL."

I know that video games are not real, just as well, and that they as well cost a couple mil' to make and mass produce, and not to mention to ship out across the nation, but face it. Gaia's games, as much as I hate to admit it, aren't that great. Fun, yes. But not terribly high-quality. Time-consuming to make, yeah, but not "ZOMG WE HAFTA SPEND TOOMILLION DOLLARS ON DISS GAMMEEEE"

I don't mind gaia-cash. That's fine. I don't mind the evolving items. I actually enjoy reading about them. What I do mind is how Gaia seems to becoming mainly cash based. Aquarium items, being the number one example. Something not that amazing, or cool, or neat, just kind of something at the importance level that should be gold, but it's only cash available. Whatever happened to both cash and gold? Don't you gaia admins think that would work much better, and not make us freak so much?

I've thought Gaia has needed change for years. What, with all the glitches it gets. Now people want to do something about it the best way the know how (Other then slaughtering millions). Is that so wrong?
