Gaia doesn't expect people to only pay for things, that's why it allows the people who do pay for some things to sell them for gold. It's marketing. Either invest in gold yielding items or just complain about how all the cool stuff is bought with real money.

I've spent only $20 and already have enough items stored that will yield 1.5 mil if sold today.

Take advantage of how real Gaia is to the real stock market and you can buy whatever your heart desires.

We ALL understand that the site needs to make money to stay up, and that some things costing money makes sense. But they DON'T need to charge us ridiculous prices for things like a $10 cash shop item, and they don't need the Aquarium to be cash-only either. Gaia got by just fine without these things, by way of the Monthly Collectibles and sponsorship from other sites and companies. Not to mention the real-life merchandise like shirts, hats, plushies, etc.
The reason they "need" extra money is to make more stupid features that hardly anyone even uses or cares about.
We're not asking for Gaia to be 100% free, we're asking that it stays REASONABLE.

I agree. I realize Gaia does have to make some money somehow, but they're just going overboard with it.

Fish should be free unless they're special.
MC's should be better thought out and executed.
and yes Evolving items should be able to layer over eachother with just one, that is such an awesome idea.

And I'm actually really mad that the MMO is going to cost money. -_-

Thank you so much for making the thread and petition about these issues. These are things I've been annoyed and even angry about for a long time, and I'm glad you've brought attention to them and explained them so thoroughly. I've been on Gaia since August of 2003, and I've never left,even though I've seen things go so drastically downhill.
Like you, I love Gaia and I appreciate everything it has done for it's users. I'm proud that I've been on Gaia for so long, and I still have no plans to leave it.
However, I'm not going to spend any real money on Gaia until the things mentioned here become fair again.
I feel that cash shop items should never cost more than four dollars, that the aquarium store should have fish and items that can be bought for gold as well as cash, and finally that we shouldn't have to pay actual money to get good items for a Battle System that was dreamed up long before the days of the cash shop. We should have to earn them by actually playing the game.

So with all that said, I hereby sign this petition. heart

Also; I think you should add about lowering the cost of some Gold Shop items.
As much as I'm on Gaia, I honestly don't want to spend the gold that I've worked 5 months to get in order to get one item. Seriously? As soon as the Antoinette set came out, I instantly wanted it.
But who had the gold to spend 47+k on ONE items
ALSO;; All shops, if someone is going to be priced over 1,000 gold I'd like there to be commas added
Around the "Prom" season, I was suckered into buying a Christian Seriano dress (Or whatever his name is) The 20,000 dress. Why? Because I thought it read 2,000 gold.
I spent half of the gold I had on a dress I didn't even want. And what's worse is, when I tried to sell it back, they wanted 75% of what I paid.
As for the cash shop; I don't recall correctly which of the bags it was however I want to say it was a "OMG" bag or whatever. I really wanted one of the millions of options one could have gotten. So I rushed out to the nearest target and spent $25 of my hard earned money on a cash card. When I opened up my cash item I had gotten a "Long Cat" scarf.
I was livid. The item is cute and all but it wasn't what I wanted. And for spend $99 cash on it or however much it cost, it was simply a waste of my money.
Also; the Mythril Coins were absolutely ridiculous. I purchased a ZOMG bag because I wanted a rare item, not gaia gold.
I have plenty enough of that, I'm on the sight practically every day I don't need nor want gold.
So to my surprise when 2 out of the 4 bags I bought had Myrthil Coin in them, I was extremely pissed.
I'm sure there's plenty of other things I could b***h about but that would take all day and would get me no where

And honestly I'm sick and tired of Gaia selling out.
Yes the MTV shop clothing is cute, but why sell out to, of all companys, MTV?
Also, I'm quite tired of all of the 13 yr, excuse me french, myspace whores.
I get on Gaia to get away from obnoxious people like that and now the GD is suddenly filled with them.
Also; I'm sick of browsing through GD and stumbling upon porn.
It's really unprofessional and quite embarrassing when I'm sitting in class and someone behind me blurts out in the middle of class "That girl had porn on her computer!"
The only thing that keeps me from quiting gaia are the RPing forums, which are slowly but steadily going down hill with it's increasing illiterates and just plain ignorant people

I remember the good 'ol days. When I bought a kiki kitty months after it came out, for 8k which I thought was quite pricey and when I sold my angelic headband for 26k
I honestly thought I was the richest person on Gaia.
Now I can't buy any of the MC I want because of the sole purpose that they are far too expensive in the MP and I can't afford them OR any Cash Shop items.
I, like many people on here, am a college student and can barely afford to pay to go to school.
It's extremely depressing when I've been a member for so long and can't enjoy nice items.
Also; Why give new years an entire set of clothing?
I remember for the first couple months of me joining Gaia I sported the Flame outfit until I could afford to buy what? A fish net shirt?
Why can't they start off with a peasant outfit like we had to?
Why do they get cute items, and THEN make your existing members pay for them!
