Huh, how 'bout that... I suppose you've got a point... But we don't worship the cross, so I'm not sure if that counts...

I wouldn't say that.
Question: Where do christians do their praying / worship?
Answer: In chapels, churches and cathedrals.
Question: What are chapels, churches and cathedrals adorned with?
Answer: Crosses and religious symbolism.

In other words, the ONLY kind of religious building god would want you to worship in is one free of religious symbolism.... preferably completely blank so you can concentrate on him and NOT the crosses and other symbols.

..... ... Dude... for ******** sake, what have I lowered myself to? I'm teaching christians how to be 'true to god' ...

Hehehe, I agree, I have seid many times that religion is man's way of making a profit off God, and it's wrong, That's why I frquently worship at home. People being stupid does not make God less real.

This is funny, I never thought I would agree with you so much...

Good stuff.
Well you keep your worship at home and don't let any of it leak out and nobody will accuse you of oppressing them.
Ok?

And within the confines of your own home where nobody can hear you but your god, you can do any crazy worshipping you might like and nobody who might take offence will be any the wiser.

you know whats crazy...
Jesus said the same thing.
Matt 6: 5-6

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Jesus is MY saviour, and please, if you don't believe that SHUT UP, and respect the beliefs of the others, you are really ignorant, and lacking of respect is not the way of being the center of attention.

Now that's being respectful...

I have a question if Jesus wasn't our savior then why did they write the Bible? Jesus is our savior. You can say all you want but he is. He may have been born like us but he is. He gave his life for us. There are scientific evidence that he is true. That everthing in was true.

first question
Power(For why the bible was written) and Misrepresentation of an enlightened indavidual (my moneys on that one for how he became "saviour" as we know it in the first place)

and two.
No there is no Scientific Evidence FOR Jesus, just shakey philisophical evidence.

Anyway I know that one chick ran away already but more on the Red Sea:
[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passage_of_Red_Sea
"Wiki"]
In recorded history from non-Biblical sources, the most likely candidate for the Israelites are the Hyksos; however, the Hyksos were being chased away rather than being chased in order to be recaptured. Sinai was still part of the Egyptian empire at that time and so crossing the Red Sea would still leave the Israelites in Egypt, although the historic army chasing away the Hyksos would have been behind them by that point. History records that the pursuing egyptian army successfully pursued the Hyksos as far as southern Canaan to Sharuhen, and so were certainly not defeated by the Red Sea.However, rewriting the story, to have the Egyptians stopped at the Red Sea, turns the embarrassing defeat of the Hyksos into an heroic escape.

It goes on

Quote:

Nethertheless, the locating of yam suph indicates that the portion of the Red Sea that they would have crossed was particularly near the landfall of the Gulf of Suez. Consequently, it was not necessarily a particularly difficult area to cross, as, aside from the obvious land route, the sea is much narrower than the main portion of the Red Sea, and also more shallow. Indeed, some consider yam suph to be refer to a sea of reeds, as Red Sea is a corruption of the more accurate translation Reed Sea, and thus the Israelites merely needed to cross a marshy freshwater swamp.

Whatever the truth of any miraculous nature surrounding the crossing by the Israelites, it is certainly true that the army of Alexander the Great made an easy crossing of the sea, as his army were able to cross with the water coming up only to their chests. It was said of the time that much of the sea had simply been blown away by a strong wind, without any divine miracle being attributed to the event.

...
However, it is possible that a more memorable crossing occurred which became associated with the Israelites, whether or not it was them who were the people which made the crossing historically

And on the rest of exodus (what with the plauges and all)

Quote:

In 1600 BC, the Greek island of Santorini, which was the cap of a volcano, exploded, resulting in a tsunami. The size of the explosion would have been enough for the tsunami to draw billions of gallons of water away, not only from the shore, but from rivers and lakes, resulting in dry land for as long as two hours - enough time for a large collection of people to cross a narrow stretch of mud. The mud would have prevented chariots and other heavy vehicles from crossing, thus disabling the Egyptian army, as recorded by the Elohist's claim of the chariot wheels being taken off. Such a volcanic eruption could have also triggered the plagues of Egypt, and so they would noticeably have occurred at a similar period in history, however, not only is the time period much earlier than the exodus is traditionally placed in history, but the plagues would have occurred after the parting of the red sea, if caused in this manner.

Burning sulfur from the sky, red water, animals behaving strangely (like the frogs and locusts)

all that can be explained by the myraid events that occur during volcanic activity.

mmm divine... *drools*

Unmmm it was a Corinthians thing I believe...
(Paul to any effect)
Generally it states that the Mosaic law was taken away through the divine salvation found in Christ.
Now this too is debatable because Jesus in certain texts and later Peter (Whom oddly enough Cathlocism is based off of and then disobays... rolleyes )
Both say that this is not so and that one does have to still obay Mosaic laws. (Jesus says "I have not come to abolish the Law but fulfill it" wink
However the interpratation is that now when you do sin you can gain forgivness from God via Jesus without sacrificing. (You don't need temple clensing)((Another oddity for the RC's considering their doctrines state you must confess your sins to a preist to get them forgiven you can't do it on your own...))
Hmm, so Roman's point about the entire depiction of the crucifix may or may not be true?

yea depending on your point of view, it's one of the main contradictions between the old and new testament.
If the New Testament is correct by Peters views and the Old laws hold sway then Christians will essentially be going to "hell" for reason's they wouln't even begin to think of.
If New Testament is correct by Pauls Views then the Old Laws hold no sway (and neither does the church) but then Christians would be going to "hell" for not properly establishing themselves with a personal relationship with God only with one via the church.
To take them both would be a contradiction of the other which leaved the validity of most forms of Christianity up to question and a good shaking.
*files that away to make people's heads explode with*

Okay, thanks...

I want more people on to argue with...
Or for you two to debate with me on my last "Smart Post"
...
Where's Soti when you *WANT* him to take you down a peg or two...
I don't know enough of the Bible to play devil's advocate, and in a general sense of the work, I agree with you...

We could allways rehash Etherism, and Fire could try to prove that it's not pantheism without any religous connotations...

lol, We'd likely just argue about the definition of a God or diety in terms of pantheism, with that subject.

Invent another story......There are scientific versions and religious versions. But to say that: Mary was ......

With that it is seen like you are, ignorant stupid, fool, DISRESPECTFULL, ETC.........

Useless and irrelevant. Contribute to the discussion or leave.

Fact is you can't prove that Mary was a virgin or not.

In fact that particular little concept is the most unverifiable of all the material since its entirely based on her word alone.

There were no eyewitnesses of her chasity.

Care to debate it? Or are you gonna b***h about me being a meanie?
