so basically gaias either getting really greedy or they're about to tank and shut down.

in the mean time anybody who wants to buy new items for there avatars has to mostly do it from the gold shops because the market place prices have burned through the roof, blasted into outer space, then made a camping spot on the moon, shot to mars, and then finally landed on Jupiter for a while.

unless of course you buy gaia cash and get a few gold generators. however in the long run even they're getting screwed over because the prices are just going to keep rising and rising and they'll have to buy more and more gaia cash to keep up.

yep im definantly seeing a downward spiral.

now there is just one question:
will most people quit gaia or will gaia tank first?

me ill probably quit. most of my friends have already quit. I come on randomly to get new ideas when im feeling really brain dead.

On the bright side, they seem to finally be turning around, albeit very slowly. The new Loyal shop is an all gold shop for people who stick around to encourage long term members and is an amazing gold sink for different ranges of budgets; genuinely new updates seem to finally be rolling out like the header and the new animal avatars; the general communication between staff and community seems to be more encouraged now with (a little) less abuse of the staff notices; and the absurdly high prices have mostly migrated out of the cash shop and back into Locco and Verge, as well as bundles making a happy come back (though in the flood form it did the same damage it does in real life when it rains heavily after long periods of drought and fires).

The economy is still in the toilet at this point in time and will continue to be such until they stop this absurd denial that cash-to-gold generators aren't the main source of the problem. That, the large casam between gold items updates vs cash items updates, and the absurd amount of announcements that are fairly useless/unwarranted seem to be the only main issues still plaguing the site. (I don't include ads since I would assume anyone who was as annoyed with it as much as I was downloaded an adblocker to combat the intrusions).

I'm trying to be optimistic after not having hope for so long (as you can see from my posts earlier in this thread) but it is a smidgen of progress that is still much appreciated.

Pretty concept but no. There is no such thing as a gold sink if gold generating items are still being sold...especially in such frequency. Having a penny shop in a neighbourhood where everyone are three digit billionaires or higher does nothing. Sorry, it just doesn't. Is the loyalty shop something good? Somewhat. I'm sure I covered that before in greater detail within this thread before but for the most part it was just a, "Quick, let's make them believe we're doing something to help." push. However, since you want to take a more optimistic take on it all I'll say time will tell.

Not sure why you're under the impression that Loyal is a "penny shop" or that anyone who has access is rich beyond compare. The items range in price from 2,600 (yes those are pennies in today's time, I'm aware) to 200,000,000 (not so much pennies). Even more, a large portion of these items are in this 7,8,9 digit range. Not everyone has that kind of cash that has access to that shop, I know I sure as hell don't since I completely refuse to buy anything cash anymore and I'm too terrible at it/under funded to vend properly. All one has to do to gain access to the shop is log on for 75 days with in a 90 day period, so it's accessible to even very new players who have only just started to settle in but have very little funds.

As for gold sinks:
A gold sink is a gold sink, it doesn't mean it's very effective at what you need it to do but it does remove currency from the market that would otherwise be there adding to the inflation even more. That is why I labelled it as such; all of the gold shops are gold sinks from Barton Boutique to Salon Durem to Loyal, they're just no where near enough to over turn the effects of gold generators. Which is why I acknowledged they are still screwing up pretty badly there.

I'm by no means wearing rose tinted glasses because of these events. I'm just saying as far as things progressing in this seemingly endless downwards spiral, we seem to have hit a sort of plateau and are just barely beginning to try and climb our way up the miles where we came from. No guarantee we aren't going to slip and keep falling, but at least this last month they seem to have started to try and get back up instead of willingly diving head first down the rabbit hole again. sweatdrop

Yes, pretty much all shops have a range but they also have a target group. The Loyalty one would need to be targeting the more affluent loyals to even be considered a decent gold sink. I know of the stipulations and requirements of the shop. I still believe that was botched pretty badly but I won't be going into that again.

Yes, gold sinks do remove funds but having inefficient gold sinks don't do much. Is it better than nothing? Sure, but that's not exactly something someone one should begin to settle for. Decent over good quality. It's like if they began to charge the same for items but made them all crappy in quality. I can't see the average user being all like, "Hey, it's not very good looking but at least we got an item! ^_^" Nope. I understand what you're saying but I believe this kind of stuff is a set up for more of the same to come. As far the shops you named, they've been around for a long time. They were fine when created but as the times went on..yeah, they got neglected. Generally new items and prices did not reflect the variations in the user's steady growing economy and wallets.

I still don't see that. The announcements, last I clicked through them, were still more pushes for gold generators. No one is going to get very far climbing if every time their hand goes for that rope or ladder coins pelt their hands. There are a few good thread that track all these announcements. Those alone show the progress. I have yet to see the plateau of which you speak. I see a few branches places along a very worn dam. You get where I'm going with this. However, I do intend to continue to watch to see where things are headed. I've been around too long not to do so. I came when it started and I'll leave when and/or if it ends.
