Hmm... Let's see. I'm not sure what to say because I have mixed feelings about this stuff. First off, I'm going to say that I don't think it was cool you laughed at the dude falling out of the building... out loud. Honestly, had I seen it, I might've chuckled on the inside, but not where I could be heard. Given the context of the situation, it's more grave, but any other situation, yeah, it would produce a chortle out of most people. However, I am not saying you're a heartless b*****d, or an a*****e or any of that for laughing at it, because honestly, I don't think that. Maybe mildly inconsiderate, but not a b*****d.
Second, considering the other two pictures, I would've softly chuckled out loud. Because honestly, those two pictures I don't see as having any point to the slideshow. I mean, why not splice a picture of Jesus and the buildings together while they're at it? Do something relevant like the firefighters and the rubble or something.
Third, I guess laughing at the guy jumping out of the burning building would be disrespectful, but not something that you should've gotten in trouble for. However, laughing to where everyone could hear you, could be viewed correctly as being disruptive and probably most teachers I know (or if been a teacher myself) would've sent you out of the class for the duration of the slideshow, but would not have done something so drastic as detention.
Fourth, yes, 9/11 did happen 5 years ago. It's about high time that America gave it a rest. If they want to be upset about it, do it privately. Have a group of people hold some kind of ceremony or whatever, or grieve at home or something. But please, they need to stop plastering it all over the news. Okay, maybe mention a ceremony as filler, but not coverage of it. It's about high time we put it behind us and let those who still feel sorrow do it by themselves. Steve Irwin should be getting something now instead for all his contributions to the world, because he was a great guy.
Fifth, while I feel great pride for living in the U.S. and I believe in our government and our leaders, it does not necessarily mean I believe in their causes. Yes, I will admit, I was for going to Afghanistan and Iraq initially. Now, I want our guys out. We've done enough, leave them alone, let them sort things out with what we've done already. Enough of our guys have died, pull them the hell out. I watched plenty of documentaries on the Military Channel about some of our guys that were in Iraq, and I feel for most of those guys because I know about the comradery that develops between soldiers during times of war. The hell they go through trying to keep themselves alive, while seeing their best friends and brothers torn from this world needs to end.
Sixth, yes, America does believe it's one of the ******** greatest countries in the world. And while that may or may not be true, it is why everyone who hates us... hates us. We're too damn full of ourselves and we seem to believe it's our God given duty to police the whole damned world. It's not. Yes, I believe the stuff that's going on all over the world is bad. Yes, I believe we need to send support to those countries that are starving and killing for food and land. But I do not think we need to send over thousands of troops everytime a country has some disputes within their land. Yes, I understand if some country is killing off it's people something should be done. Preferably that the civilians get off their asses and stop thinking the US will come to their rescue, even though we tend to do that. They should rally and form a rebellion force and stage a coup de tat. The fact we're constantly meddling tends to set people off. The military actions need to stop or at least be severely cut back, while relief related things like food and water should be continued.
Well, that's it. I've covered pretty much everything related to this topic I can possibly think of and more. I covered my beliefs on what's happened to you, as well as covering my beliefs on what this whole discussion has spread to. These are merely my opinions, and while I respect the fact that you all have your own opinions and may not agree with me on every or any subjects, I expect you to respect the right that I have my opinions as well and may not agree with everything you believe. Thank you, peace out.
