Welcome to Gaia! ::

Ok first off, this is NOT a stab at christians and your beliefs

I dont believe what you all do, but i respect that you believe that and expect the same in return.

So I have read bits of the bible (shock horror an atheist who has read it eek ) and well there is one thing I really dont understand and no one i have ever talked to has been able to answer my question

so my question to all the gaian christians is:

How do u believe 'God' created everything?

the best answer i have so far is

'God' uses magick
before you think im an idiot look up the actual meaning of magick. not magic!
if you can grasp the concept of what it actually is. you will understand how it makes sense

btw if anyone else simply states "of coarse 'God' did it" without reasoning (without explanation as to how)
i think i will actually snap! i did not freaking ask that!

Thats a question only God knows.........knowlage = power

btw Agnostic signing in ^^

Define magic.
i would like it if no smart a**e atheists came here and said

"'God' didnt, he doesnt exist"

stare seriously, i dont care what any atheist has to say and your post wil be deleted

i have no time for you, i already know the atheist side of this and have my own beliefs

haha but it says he created it, i can tell you scientifically has a baby is formed, how a tree is made, has a star is formed/detroyed

but no one can say how 'God' did it

nice, i used to be agnostic, but now i really dont believe these days

Define magic.

i dont have to define magic

the person said he uses powers, ie magic
he said he wanted to to be there so he clapped his hands and it appeared ...magic
Yea i admit it was a very agnostic answer but i really dont belive we are at the intellectual level we need to be at to answer that question, some day prehaps but just not yet.....a baby, a tree and a star are simple concepts compared to the power of the divine biggrin

Are we going with the Crowley definition? It's a standard.

Quote:
Magick is the Science and Art of causing Change in conformity with Will.

Therefore: yes.

simple concepts?

let there be light ...let there be darkness ...day and night ...science says it is because a star produces light and the solar radiation cause heat and light, because the earth rotates on an axis, only half the earth is able to be touched by the heat/light
but this is something the 'God' simply said, and it appeared

i know we're not meant to know how 'God' was able to do things, but maybe it would let me believe in 'God' that bit more

btw, i refrain from using him/her/higher being. due to the fact i dont belive in 'God' and dont have an answer as to what 'God' might be

You're not paying attention wink

All magick is is causing Change in conformity with Will.

The Thelemic view of Will is that of... fate, kinda. If you're looking at it in a Christian context, Will would be the Will of God.

Therefore, by definition, anything God did would be magick.

If you'd like to change the definition of magic, we can look at it a different way. But Crowley's is a popular definition.

I'm a Pagan. Clearly you're discussing a creator deity from a Christian perspective, so my own beliefs aren't really relevant.
I understand that in this day and age we feel the need to prove and catogorise everything but science but have we lost the ability to sit back and just accept a little faith. Science is still a young concept that thinks it can explain a star but is stopped in its tracks by a pile of stones(Stonehendge). Mystery and fantasy are as much part of this world as Science and we have to acknowlage that some things are just not ment to be known by humans and decide if we are willing to believe that which you cannot prove to exist.... biggrin

"I refuse to prove I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith and without faith I am nothing."

ok so i dont know wether its cos its 2:30am or im just not readin it properly razz but wouldnt that mean u were changing the will of god?

i think that is a good definition, but too technical lol, i looked it up and found a slightly better, less smart sounding definition

Quote:
Magic is the Science and Art of causing Change, on a material as well as a spiritual level, to occur in conformity with Will by altered states of consciousness."
but this leads me to think magick is just about changing consciousness, which to me is just hypnosis, which i dont consider magic at all
but it is 2:30am and my mind is starting to turn off razz

hey a pagan smile thats different smile i dont come across many if any here smile
and yeah kind of, thats why i made the question out to christians, i was only interested in their beliefs. i dont know anything about your beliefs smile
