proving the existence of a god isn't in the realm of science, it's in the realm of philosophy and logic.

True enough.

but if we look in history the "religious" focus periods were rebuttles to the "philosophy and logic" periods... for the belief in god was from emotions not logic.

Philosophy today is a fairly broad subject with many specialized "fields" including theology and religion, but also now-a-days science and philosophy and logic have a much stronger hold then they used too. Religion has had to cope with this. During the times you speak of the church was fearful that its doctrine might be in jeopardy, so it was only natural for them to defend their ideologies.

Today however, while controversy still exists, the church can no longer burn those who disagree with them or pose a threat.

And there you open something else. Why would you burn someone who speaks out against what you believe in? if they are wrong let them be wrong. Unless they are correct and are going to break you hold on society. So wouldnt that mean that religion was more a controling focus than an actual plausable thing. For burning those who speak out against it makes them break a commandment of thiers. Though shall not kill. Burning a human is killing. Even if they are a blasphemer they are still gods creation under the bible. So wouldnt it be jesus' place to judge them not the church itselves choice.

Ok so most people believe in some kind of god. Me and my friend are just saying prove that any god exsists. How do you know and what makes you believe. I am atheist so I have no god but my friend does have a god.

I don't believe in myths and yes i believe this person.
how can you have no god but your friend does? think about it.

its called difference in beliefs. maybe the friend is pagan
I believe that there's more in this world than we humans think. I think there's a god, I think Jesus was/is real. WHat more is their to say? Yes, yes. I believe in God, the man who created this world and everything in it.
Thomas Aquinas had 5 proofs for God in his Summa Theologica.

Granted, I'm pretty sure someone came along and disproved them all, but that's irrelevant since I can't remember who.

Yes and To Defend it! By burning people at the stake, and Burning books.
Putting Great minds in jail or killing them. Chruch is great at stomping anything that is not religion into the durt in the name of there god!
Faith rules all of us, you AND me. You couldn't tell me with any certainty that your belief, that there is no God, is irrefutable or has any proof to back it. Proof isn't what one should ever be concerned with or dependent on.

Christians will tell you that we consider Jesus to be, among many other incredible things, proof. God embodied in the flesh, something humans can behold and comprehend and justify their faith by. If that's what your definition of proof is, then that's my answer.

If you can explain everything that happens on earth and the universe then i'll be wrong.

i do have one question for you, how did the universe start?
The fact that we have a hospitible planet for millions of years?
