This is a repeat thread, but...
Any and all gods are nonfalisifiable. Meaning you can't disprove their existence. ALso-you can't prove that one does exist, either.

This is exactly what guides many agnostic people (such as I). Because of that, I can't quite convince myself that there is or isn't any sort of god/deity in existence.

I'd be interested to see any real scientific proof that there absolutely positively 100% is or isn't a God.

I'm agnostic, but it really bugs me how athiests love to attack believers with bullshit statements like "SHOW ME PROOF OF YOUR SO CALLED GOD"

You militant atheists can be just as bad as the religiously militant people you claim to hate so much.

Yeah I agree, and they call RELIGIOUS people "narrow minded" when they can't even open up to the mere POSSIBILITY that there IS a God! So hypocritical...Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions, that's what I think.

If you want proof of God's existance, just ask him for a miracle. I DARE YOU!!!
for me, I believe in a god.
not THE God
but A god.
I believe that though science can explain everything being created (big bang, evolution, etc) some unknown god has created the base materials and formula for the events of the universe, the molecules and/or DNA of existance, if you will. I believe this because people have senses of what is right and wrong, and because existance had to start somewhere. I also feel that the fact that many humans feel a need to believe or even disbelieve in god(s) is proof of a holy existance. I, however, feel that there can be no proof of the number of gods, goddesses, and/or spirits, let alone sex, appearance, species, location, heaven, hell, reincarnation, or form of said deities.

I also feel that there is no "right" or "true" religion. I feel that one can learn many different things from many different religions, that everyone can contribute. I feel there should be no dogma, but one should simply believe whatever one wishes to. I personally feel that all are equal, no matter who they are, every life is equal.

After googling my beliefs and taking a religion test, I found my beliefs closest to those of Unitarian Universalists (read more on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unitarian_Universalism )

So yes, I feel god(s) exist around/in/above us/somewhere/somehow. But I'm not sure who/what/where they/he/she/it are/is.

Existance itself, in its beauties, faults, conformities and anomalies, I believe, prooves this.
#1: I thought everyone knew that some people belive in gods while others don't 0_o I guess I was wrong 0_o
#2: There is no proof that gods don't/do exist, its all about what you belive in.
#3: You shouldn't try converting each other, it only gets you flamed.
#4: Everyone has there own ideas, opinions, beliefs, rights, etc. so don't challenge them about it.

And you can't open up to the mere possibility that there's a unicorn princess standing right behind you.

Didn't even look, did you? That's because it's so ridiculous, it's not worth entertaining even the possibility.

I've asked for miracles. I've prayed. When I was in Catholic school, as a devout Catholic, being tormented by the popular girls, I prayed for god to change their hearts. Something god should be able to do, right? Nothing flashy, just inspire them to be better people. Better Catholics, even.

And nothing happened.

Nothing.

So, either:

God exists, and doesn't give a s**t about my suffering.

or

God doesn't exist.

So even if it were proven that a god has been up there all along, I still wouldn't worship the evil c**t. What has he done for me? Made my life hell by giving me major depression, taken away my true love in a freak heart attack...if this god wants to be worshipped, he's doing a piss-poor job of convincing me to do so.

Pure chance,

Tell me friend, how could pure chance work that way?

The universe and everything working the way it does by pure chance is the same odds of you entering the lottery a thousand times and winning the grand prize every time

How do you know the odds? Have the calculations that demonstrate them? I would love to see your analysis of what led up to the big bang that resulted in the laws we have that makes it so improbable.

It is no more improbable or provable/disprovable than a deity existing.

teatimeHITLER
Not believing in His existance is just as unprovable. Doesn't it just sound COMPLETELY far-fetched to you if EVERYTHING happened by CHANCE? I mean, honestly.

No. It sounds equally as far fetched as believing that some deity is responsible for it.

Quote:
A dog could appear out of thin air by chance. But 99% of people wouldn't believe it, would they? Because our minds are educated to know that is impossible? We learn by science that that is impossible, yet at the same time we also learn from evolution that all of this junk just happened to come from nowhere and form this amazing, eccentric world and beings.

If this is what you have been told about evolution, someone has been lying to you.

There is evidence that there was not one but 3 big bangs at least. So i think the chances of there being a big bang is higher than there being some magical god thing.

Ok so most people believe in some kind of god. Me and my friend are just saying prove that any god exsists. How do you know and what makes you believe. I am atheist so I have no god but my friend does have a god.

Okay, I really don't have the time to read 125 pages of posts. Thus I'm probably saying the same thing everyone else is saying:

There is no proof. Almost anything can be explained scientifically. I think the reason most of us believe in God is because our ancestors had to create an explanation for why things are the way they are. They couldn't do it scientifically, so they decided to create an Almighty Divine Being (or beings) to explain everything.

I believe in God, but only under the justification that something had to create that little bit of matter that exploded into the universe (if you believe in the Big Bang theory). biggrin

I agree. If there is an all-powerful god, he's an a*****e. Too much s**t happens for there to be an all-loving, all-powerful being.
Logic... is only one part of the mind. Thus how can a piece understand the whole? If your view is narrow, you reduce the world. If this is true, and I used logic to come up with this, so am I only seeing part of the whole? But by saying that, I have said the first statement is true. But I used logic, so that means......

Logic

I don't bother terribly much with it. But I am not saying it isn't useful; you just can't base everything on it.
As for miracles... look outside... look at the grass, look at the moon.

Imagine your ego disappearing, there are no longer arbitrary boundaries between the experienced and the one who experiences. No difference between this and that, me and you. Your Self expands, and encompasses the whole world. Isn't that God? Isn't God's presence evident in every Flower, every Beast, every Rock. Why do we call it God? This source of unfathomable love and compassion. We could just as easily leave it unnamed.

So I try to treat every being with respect.
Don't flame me for this it is my opinion, and I am not imposing it on any of you.

Religion is humanity's excuse to try and explain the unexplainable.
and ths god which stems from religion is just in some odd way a lie.
I don't have to prove to you that god exists. I'm only obligated to showing you reasons why god might exist, and let you make your own decision.

I'm sure you've seen plenty of those reasons already, though.

Look straight up at noon and you see my God. He provides light and warmth. Science has shown He makes life possible by granting plants the gift photosynthesis.

Thank you.

science has shown that god didn't creat earth or anything. It can all be explained if u use science not god.

science has also said that all of a sudden there was a BANG out of nowhere and then there was the universe rolleyes
