I am not saying this to whine and cry, but why is someone like that allowed to go on without being banned? Isn't gaia supposed to be kid-friendly?

Uke, Let me say something. We're not acting like spoilt brats and many of us were grateful for Gaia but somewhere down the line, they chose to get money over pleasing users.

its not that they're choosing one over the other, but they are doing one so they can do the other.

it happened to myspace, facebook, all the places that used to be good. user load got too high, they had to plaster ads to pay for stuff, and people got pissed because of it. it's not that they don't care, its that they don't let us see what they're doing.

1) The MMO is a special group of people dedicated to that and to that mostly, not every personal is working in the develipong of the BS.

2)No, I dont think all the money is going into their pockets. beacuse I know Gaia is a huge website and it takes a lot of money to keep it running. but let's see, Aquaruim , was it necessary? did users even asked for an Aqaurium? I mean sure it's a cool feature and what not, but it really is'nt needed (plus needing morem oney to keep it runnin, and by the looks of it, it wont be a popular feature)

How do you know that the admins/developers aren't 18 and in college? I'm not saying they don't get paid. I am saying that what they do isn't a high paying salary, and the amount of over 500k is much too high for them to be dolling out to the staff.

It was my understanding you had to have a college degree of some sort to be a Dev at Gaia in the first place.

Gaia's never been for children, sorry. gonk The PG13 rule is because there ARE 13 year olds on here, and they cannot look at porn. So we have to limit ourselves to the lowest age of a Gaian user, which is 13, when it comes to things like that. But if you read about Gaia on off-Gaia articles, you'll here them say many times that it's a site for Teens and Young Adults. 3nodding

Because Gaia has become a "teen hangout". When Gaia first started, there were hentai links...Obviously, it didn't start out for "kids". But with the sudden influx of children, they've had to enforce stricter rules.

I believe that is a plus when they hire. But I do not think it is a requirement. I've never seen anything stating that. If you have a topic you can direct me to regarding that, I will gladly agree that the Dev pay is higher. However, the admin/dev pay still wouldn't add up to anywhere near 500k even if they were getting paid a bit more for having a college degree. I think it would be fair to say Gaia pockets at least 10 percent if it's earnings, if not more.

well thats how i see it, we dont meet eye to eye on that and thats fine by me, but i will stick by this, i like the pg13 rule cuz it at least attempts to keep the site clean and friendly, and i dont have to worry nearly as much about my young cousins, nieces, and nephews seeing innapropriate things on this site.......so to me that makes it more child friendly

I would now like to point out that your original post was that they're doing this to make us happy, to which my answer still stands at they're not making us happy.

Because they're not making us happy. The fact that they "need" the money to keep the servers going and paychecks paid and what not aside, the bottom line is these new features do not make us happy. Obviously, there is a solution to this, and that would be to listen to the users and respond to our complaints istead of telling us "The new features gives you gold so be happy and stop complaining!". Maybe they won't get rid of the new feature, but if they at least hear us out instead of jumping to the "it gives you gold!" defense, we could probably come to a compromise much quicker, therefore making both admins aand users happy.

yes there is a lot of bills to pay, but should'nt they caculate that before putting up new features
( that obviously they'll have to pay more) and what about the users? not everyone can afford Gaia cash, not everyone has parents that just lend them their credit cards. dont you think they actually calculate this stiff, before releasing new stuff? (in other words, more new bills to pay )

but seriously, not everyone can afford to pay. they want to make it a pay to play site, cool, fine with me, but I'll leave, seeing as I cannot affordit ...well I can afford it, I just wont pay and like me, a lot of users will leave, but we are trying to prevent that, tha's why we are giving our feedback.

I support gaia by being an active user of the site, but not by giving them money. I appreciate the people who do, though, because if they didn't half the items I'm wearing might never have been created.
