Welcome to Gaia! ::

Orange.co.uk emails expire after 90 days...which means, I have no email address for this account. >.>

Hotmail accounts also expire...not sure how long it takes. There's just a huge problem in that matter. And Gaia doesn't like mules, which means you need a different email address for every account.

I was banned for no reason once ._.
To my knowledge, the reason they're telling us about the email ahead of time, is so that if we have addresses we can't currently access, we can rectify that NOW, -before- the new system goes into effect... because right now, you don't need to verify with your old address in order to change it. I believe, anyways.
I thought this wouldn't affect older users? And what about those people who haven't been online for decades....but still remember their password/username, but can no longer access their email account. What do they do?

To make my account I used an old hotmail password that expired, however when that happened I came to Gaia and replaced it with the one I am using currently.

I think that I still remember my old address, but I sure hope is not going to be needed. What's the point of an e-mail that no longer exists? xp

You can still change it. Dayinara saved her butt by doing so. but you should probably be quick about it, lol.

I'm sorry, and I've tried and tried to ignore the comment, but I just can't. I cannot BELIEVE that a developer (Swarf) got on this thread and said, in essence, "Gee, I'm sorry you guys are unhappy... But please make sure you're spending money with Gaia and things will improve." Wait. What? How does that work? So (as Kava said) even if the items are "crap" let's just go ahead and buy them and hope they'll improve, someday?? How is that going to change ANYTHING??

To me it was like Swarf was saying, "Well, I don't really care about the things you think are wrong, so long as you're still giving us cash for the things you think are right." Again, the whole mentality behind the statement was so f'd up that I've put off commenting... And put it off... But I just had to say my piece on this. It was wrong. Very, very wrong. On more then one level.

I honestly just thought Swarf was saying that this isn't something he has any control over. These things are decided by Gaia's 'BIZ' people... the people who control the money, the marketing people, etc... not the developers.

I think Swarf was simply trying to proffer some advice as to how to get their attention. IF we managed to make MC's more profitable than CS items, the people who control Gaia's $$ would stop and pay attention and say... 'let's devote more resources to the MC's rather than CS'. That makes sense to me... it really does.

I just had to point out that while I can see how it's true in theory... in a practical sense, we'd never manage to achieve that goal. The sad part is that what Swarf said is probably right. By removing ourselves from the customer base, and no longer feeding our cash to the company, we become part of the 'majority' who isn't helping to fund the site, so the people who look at the numbers and control the money probably don't care what we have to say.

I think I see what you're saying. But I can't bring myself to say that Swarf's comment sat well with me, nonetheless. But I will try to swallow my pride and accept your theory... It makes sense (I think) even if I find it disturbing. Surely, though, if enough users who USED to spend money STOP spending money, the same sort of result would happen? The biz people could be forced to ask themselves why paying customers have stopped paying and review current practices. sad I dunno. I would hope, anyway.

Why Ancient...

When did this become a general complaint thread?! scream

Make another email address at hotmail, yahoo or gmail then. Then change your email address before the new measures are implemented. It's not rocket science rolleyes
...Why Onyx?
I like some of the suggestions, but I can't complain about Gaia. All I've dealt with is some glitches - and that's bound to happen on all sites. I do hope that the developers will think about your suggestions though.
FIX THE FISHING!

I stopped Gaia for 5 months or so because even though I had an account with a ninja HB and Goti clips, someone decided to hack it. So you froze it, Gaia. I decided to come back for some mroe art and fun, and what do i see?

A crapload of new items, which I already hate, and BROKEN GAMES.

Word Bump was broken BEFORE I LEFT, for the love of god!

Fishing's been a nightmare.

This only makes me remember why I left!

I prefer DRAGON CAVE. DRAGON CAVE, Gaia. That is DISGRACEFUL.

RUNESCAPE is loading better. The Java graphic-intensive game.

Don't add new stuff, FIX THE OLD!!

Its called a company people, you want gaia to stay open, you have to pay for it to stay open. People who pay keep it free for those who can't or wont pay.... End of story
Skittles Of Darkness
I truly believe all our problems could have been solved easily is there was better foresight on Gaia's staff part. Too many times they have constantly asked for new users (by bribing other users to advertise Gaia) instead of making their older userbase more loyal. Too many features and them breaking have spread the Gaia staff thin instead of just having a few main features to take care of.

Yes, I understand people want more, more, more. But more isn't always for the best anwser. Sometimes just upgrading older features and slowly adding new features is for the best, especially since they have such a small work force.

    I just want to say something on this - even though it's like, ten pages past because you guys have been loyally posting and keeping this on the front page. XD;

I joined a different avatar-forum-community site on a whim, and was exploring it last night.. when something came to me. Here, there were all these low-grade, low-art games that were basically nothing more than Snake, and Space Invaders, and other low-tech stuff that was short on art but high on fun and addicting game play. And I imagined that this was how Gaia must have started out as..

And they were fun. Then I thought to myself, "How many times have I played Jigsaw lately? Or Wordbump? Or Pinball?" They are very beautiful, sure, but the fun .. just sort of seems to leak out of them the more glitches they develop.

They've got this new update/version of Jigsaw up, and it glitches on the gold-giving, and there's less space to put your pieces, and all these other things.. Then there's WordBump who's had it's own problems for awhile now.. And they're nice but..

But I guess my point is that Gaia spends far to much time on looking nice when they should spend more time on actually being. Ya know? D':

I don't want to be driven off to another site, I like it here. This is my home. :C

I haven't been able to fix my house in five months!
Woah....people. You seriously need to get a life. Gaia is not a real thing. It's electronic. Don't stress about nonsensical things that won't impact our lives in a truely significant way. Go ride a bike or something. Sheesh.
If you disagree and wish to flame, please take it to PM'ing me so i can adress each of you individually.
