Welcome to Gaia! ::

SwordMasterZ
How pety and pointless of you.

Do you have nothing better to do, Stranger?

Nope. Sure don't. Do you?
[ .NK. ]

All right, I tried being polite to you despite you using every opportunity to get in a dig at me, but I'm sick of you being an a** to me in my own thread. You're doing nothing but trolling in a lame attempt to make me flame you, but it's not going to work.

Think what you like.
Waverlie

Thank you for continuously bumping this thread to the first page, Strange.

No problem. wink I'm here to help. 3nodding

I've read through your post. I re-read to clarify myself but still I get your point and yet I don't need to write out a big paragraph or a long post to explain what I'm about to say.

In my opinion your post is basically a child complaining/whining about not getting what they want and being a bit ungrateful for what they do get.

That's all I have to say. Have a good day. (:

As childish as you worded it, that's fine. You can think that all you want.
2000th Post I completely agree with this thread thus far
Thee Stranger
Vampire Lemons
I'd like to point out that those are the exact same points that the OP made, and the only difference is wording.

Really? I didn't see it. Show me. I'll admit that I didn't read through the whole entire OP, but I've read most of it which is a whole lot of whining and complaining, and often times about stupid stuff.
She stated that the MC's quality has gone down ever since the EI's came out, for one thing. Also, the ones that aren't in the OP directly are stated later on, including in recent pages. Some of them simply aren't in the exact wording of the post you claimed to agree with.

Stating your opinon on how her post sounded is one thing, being an a** about stating it is quite another thing. People are bound to get defensive if they think you're trying to be an a*****e.

And I'm not going to call troll or not-troll because I really don't care if you are or not.

I know this is old, but the entire statement is used all the time by devs and other Gaia staff members and it's really annoying.

Prices: This may be hard to believe, but Gaia isn't currently profitable.

Which is hardly our fault. We're not managing your money. Perhaps instead of focusing on making a s**t ton of NEW things, you just make what you have work properly instead. It's like building onto your house when you're behind on your house payments. It's retarded. Period.

If you're going to use this excuse, admit it's your own damn companies fault. It's hardly a justifiable reason to charge your users out the a** for things we've wanted for years. We shouldn't be expected to be grateful for you guys making stupid decisions with your business and then charging us for it.

Sure, you have to spend money to make it, but whoever is in charge of these things at Gaia has taken it waaaay too far. If you're so bad off then you'd re-examine the way you're doing things and make change so you can get OUT of "the red". You wouldn't be continuing to do what isn't working for you. And what you guys have been doing clearly isn't working. Which is not our fault.

That's very interesting.

I have plenty of suggestions of ways to get them out of the red.

- Wherever they had their giant KiKi made...they were ripped off. If they're charging $300 for it I'm going to assume they had to pay around at least $200 per, and that's a huge rip off. Look into more companies to get better prices. I have two plushies either the same size or bigger than that KiKi that were I think $10 a piece, $20 for both.

- No more special catered lunches daily. There are better alternative ways for lunch instead of expensive buffets. Have catering happen on special days. There's a reason that all companies don't do that.

- Consider cutting back on paying for advertising. Right now, they need to grow the site, not the user base, because that only makes more servers necessary. Not many newbies will be capable of buying anything anyways. Offer up banners so that users can advertise on their other websites or personal websites. I found Gaia through someone's own website years ago when we had the option. Word of mouth works a lot more than people give it credit for.

- Obviously lowering CS prices will help generate even more sales.

- Listen to what users want from the RL Gaia store and actually act on it. If that many people want it, that many people will pay.

- Budget conventions more carefully. It's a way of advertising, I know, but spending a fortune on them clearly isn't getting very good results.

- I know it's been turned thousands of times, but they really need to free up server space by deleting banned accounts. Find a way to get around the problems that have been brought up. It really will help. Stop putting items that we're never going to get into the server as well. Remember all of the new stuff we got, then lost, the day Daily Chance came out? We've yet to get those items properly, and I'd assume they're rotting away in the some dusty corner of the servers.

- Delete threads that haven't been responded to in 1 - 2 months, if that's not already done.

- If it's causing server problems, limit the number of videos a user can have in their profile.

To name a few.

Well I have a few actual ideas here. I haven't read all 130 some pages so sorry if I am a repeat.

No problem. I can't expect anyone to read 130 pages. As long as they read and/or understand the OP, that's all I need.

When you think about it, even the advertising money comes from users because advertisers pay us in order to reach....you. (Even though not all the sponsors are appropriate to all the users) We get paid when people click a link or watch a trailer or something, so without you its nothing.

Now does this mean if all us gaians banded togather and just clicked links repeatedly for a few minutes gaia would get money? If so how much, if not why?

I've heard that's "illegal" on any website. I'm really not sure. But I've been clicking a lot of a links since I was told that. Don't forget that they also get money from pretty much everything we do on the site, so just keep being active.

Now I really think I bring up a good point here. I understand Gaia may need to get that $10. One item for $10 you may think Gaia would be raking it in with that. The thing is no one wants to do that. Maybe if you made 2 $5 items or split the costs between different items you spread the threat of someone not buying the item, AND people would actually buy a cheaper item. I predict the human mindset to want to buy 4 different items for $10 than buy 1 for $10. Plus some people might not like that ten doller one. With spreading it out you get more people to buy plus people less reluctant to buy for $2.50 than $10.

I don't understand what you mean, exactly. sweatdrop I'm half asleep, sorry.

It is true gaia needs money. The United states of America is going through troubled economics so many of us have less or no money. Some gaians I am sure have been evicted. cry . My family isn't doing so hot. So I think we can't even point fingers on that one, its just a fact everyone has less money, so does Gaia. Therefore things may go slower.

In response to thePM thing, I know how sponsors work now. That really bites. I like all the anime sponsors and movies pretty well just not the MTV type stuff. Either way you should let Gaians know through announcements how things go, what you can or cannot do, and why. The main reason people get mad is getting mad becuase of something you guys had to do and it turns out we would sympathize with you and by the way a few million heads is better than 100!

Overall I am honest here. I came back to gaia after leaving for the third time for rasons of anger. This thread is a miracle and clarified a whole bunch. thanks {NK] for making this thread and all devs for making the opaque view at gaia transluscent(not yet transparent). I now have at least a sketchy idea of whats up.

I agree. The user - admin - dev barrier needs to be broken, and we've been trying to solve that problem.

Thank you! I'm so glad it was well received. I nearly didn't post it because all I could imagine was hundreds of users chasing me with pitchforks. sweatdrop But it needed to be said, and I'm glad it was.

We lost stuff the day Daily Chance came out?

I don't agree with the deleting thread thing, though. Unless there's a specific rule saying necro-ing dead thread results in banned offense I don't think they should go crazy deleting stuff. What if I started an art shop that wasn't really popular, or I took a break, then I redid it and bumped it after a few months to get more customers? If I had already done orders on there they'd be lost.

I still firmly believe Gaia isn't in the red. I mean a staff even said they aren't broke. So I'm guessing that excuse got started by users and gained official acknowledgment. So.

Yes, they released all kinds flowers and more things which I've forgotten. I think there were fish, too. The flowers were really well done; lilies, roses, etc. I got one, but in less than 3 hours all of the items were removed from our accounts because it was a leak.

I agree. I mean threads that would reside in CB, like ones that say nothing but. "Hi 4laugh *insert emote spam here*" that died 10 minutes within posting. They could not do it in the shops area, or other places. But CB would be a good place to start.

Who honestly knows? I think they owe a lot of money (at least 11 million), but other than that I don't know what to think. If they were truly extremely broke, I think the site would be down. But they keep buying and adding more servers, so they must have some money somehow. You can't get loan after loan.

Stranger, I'm going to have to ask that you leave now, you have made your point, you argued to defend it, which is fine, however you seem to be doing nothing now other then trying to rile up people here. You have made your point, there is no reason to stick around, you are just trying to cause trouble now by throwing insults at people.

Thank you, Hobocore. <3

I see that we're in the top again. :] That's good.
No problem, I love the free exchange of ideals that this thread promotes, but I hate when someone comes in here, thinking that everyone other opinion is some kind of sub-human idea and they should feel inferior they didn't see things their way.

Having caught up...again. I have the following to say.

1) We seem to be making head way with the Admins and Dev's.
2) Those who do not share the same views as us are cropping up in number, and can't say anything nice. Only calling us "brats" (nice term being used).

And, should anyone say anything about my MC heavy avatar, they were all bought on the Marketplace with gold or donated by other users to me. I have yet to donate cash here onto the site due to various personal reasons other then with the issues I have with the site.

Hey, I just think it's great at we're getting more attention. With more attention of course comes the negative aspects. I wonder how long we can keep this thread on the first page.

In other news, I learned that even Gaia staff are giving us conflicting info about their financial situation. Read here.
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/site-feedback/logical-suggestions-to-improve-aquarium-for-all/t.43803789/

The posts from Fleep and SimplySimone (theyr'e at the bottom of the first post) kinda oppose each other, ne? Fleep's saying they're not turning in healthy profits, and Simone's saying they've never claimed they're broke. Hmm, so by logical deduction Gaia's either breaking even pretty well or maybe earning a small unhealthy profit - that depends on whether Fleep's definition of a "healthy profit" range in 2 million a year or 100,000 a year. In any case I lol'd at the contradictions and went on my merry way.

Good thread, btw. I'll be checking this frequently.

I agree, the more attention given to the thread, the higher chance we have of spreading the word to others within the Gaia hierarchy.
I agree with you, I miss the good old collectibles and how mods were more responsive with personal issues.
And I hate the Aquarium cash shop thing, even if they released a "daily chance exclusive" fish.
