Announcements do need an overhaul.
I do try and read the journals, but they all need to be more accessible to everyone and know where to find them.

But yes, something like the anouncements, in the foroms, like the journals, would b useful. Or a stickied thread.

Any feaure, to be honest. I'd personally like to know more about what's being done to make forums and guilds work better, but updates on what's up wth the Battle would be nice too.

Where would be the right place for this kind of info? Not really something for announcements, eh? But yeah journals aren't really enough.

Lanzer mentioned that there was going to be a help wiki. I was hoping that the addition of a "help" tab could be added in with the main navigation tabs. This page would have small updates, known glitches, information on what is being worked on. It would be a lot more accessible then shuffling through staff journals.
That would be awesome, actually. Then we could have a way to know what was glitching and what was being fixed without people complaining about constant announcements just about glitches.

Thank you. It would be a good way to keep track of logs of what has been done, what is being worked on. I think we can all agree that the user base is mighty curious and any information given to us would be beneficial. The help page would also be good for those of us that like site feedback, or keep up on the staff journal updates and as you said, wouldn't be intrusive to those who don't like the updates.

I mentioned to Fleep the idea of making an account much like admin's account. It could even eventually have it's own little personalized avatar like admin. It could be a guy with blue hair, overalls, glasses, and a lap top that he always looks busy with or something, and it could be named Developer.
And you could use that journal that all of you can post in whenever. Those that are interested can add the account to their friendslist and get notifications when you release new journals.

Although I do agree, and that is a fine idea, i feel that not everyone would be able to find this information. New people to the site, or even some of the gaians that do not keep up well with anouncment would not know of this, and still be outraged by problems that could've been fixed or dealt with already without them knowing. I think it would be a better idea to instead, add an addition to the link bar, kind of like an idea already stated, but with a branch under each the section for each of the different teams that take affect on gaia. There they could say things under certain branches and it would be a public radable area unlike having to find the admin/developer friend to get the updates.

Thus my mention last page os having it set like announcements, but in the forum, so that it wouldn't bother people by giving them announcements constantly, but would instead be a stickied thread at the top of every single forum, in a manner much like this:An example of what I mean. That way, people would be able to find it, and not complain that it was too many announcements.

As much as I hate the constant nagging of the anouncments in that little bubble every time I log into gaia, there is a good amount of people on this site that stick mostly to the games, cars.... and stuff of that nature that do not enter the threads. Since alot of our glitches and arguments take place in other things as well, I think it would be better to place them in a spot that wouldn't' force people to enter the forums if they aren't familiar with them as it is, like an addition to the bar above.

I;m not the team, but it is in beta-testing and an article was recently released about it. It will be coming at some point. Massive ads are already out for it. For that, I'd except it sometime soon.

And where was it said that Easter was screwed by the BS team? I never remembered that. And easter event has been the only event that has been screwed with, all other events have gone fairly well and nice.

I'm currently trying to hunt down where the original mention came up that event-related staff were too busy on the battle system, or that they didn't have enough resources, or whatever the hell it was. But so far I've found this:

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/site-feedback/i-thought-the-gaia-artists-were-all-too-busy-with-the-bs/t.39175133/

http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/site-feedback/no-offense-but-the-easter-event/t.39376367/

It's such a b***h trying to hunt through threads several months old. I'll edit or post again when I find something more specific and actually from a staff member. But, both of those threads have mention of staff that would have worked on Easter being pulled to help with the battle system.

I have to feel sad for some people, though, as I go through all these old threads and see people say "We're getting an Easter event, we've been promised an Easter event" and then we never got one. Poor souls had so much faith in Gaia and nothing ever came of it.

True enough. It was just an idea. I'm fond of the idea of a help page like was mentioned above, because it's non intrusive and available to everyone including those who don't use the forums.
I FOUND IT! Holy s**t that took more effort than it should have. xd Lanzer himself saying that events such as Easter were scaled back or canceled due to the Battle System.

You're absolutely right, we all don't mind that it's taking so long. It's the fact that you keep setting deadlines (I hate them too) and getting our hopes up.

With hundreds of messages a day asking when Battle is going to be out, it's hard not to try to make a guess smile And, believe me, it's just as frustrating to us that it's taking too long. We're the ones losing sleep because of it. Sorry that it keeps getting delayed. We're doing the best we can.

items that seemed like they were made for the event were put in the cash shop instead. That was like a double burn. The artists had time to make Easter CS items, but not even one item to give out for an event.

I don't know the details, but yeah I agree that it feels crappy. Gaia doesn't always make the best choice. And that's why it is important to have people like you holding them accountable with feedback! We do ask for some faith and some patience.

Thank you very, very much for taking the time to reply to us. We really appreciate it. :] Keep up the hard work on Battle, and I hope you guys get a vacation soon.

Glad to join in. I really ought to be here in the forums more often. Communication is important.
I like the sound of this announcement thinger.

I do, however, think that if they're willing to do something like this because they don't want to "smother us" with anouncements, then they really do need to make something similar for the Evolving Item reports, things like the "Celebrity Snare" and other such things.

Let announcements be announcements. When a big event is coming up, post an announcement. If there's a really big glitch, post an announcement. I don't even mind those community spotlight announcements. But if their reasoning behind not notifying us of glitches or even the Battle System progress is that they don't want to overload up with announcements, then they need to cut back on announcements in general. If users are interested in a particular feature, they will look it up (and it really should be easy to access). Only mass-notify someone if it's something important.

News to me sad We've had to share art resources sometimes. But never anything that was competing with events.

I love this idea! And Fleep is the right one to talk to about it.
