Same here... Getting through college has been really though lately...

It is for me too, my tuition and books cost more now... wtf, I just chipped out a good 700+ bucks on my books for this semester... grr

$700!?! that's like £350! for just books, blimey things sure aren't looking to bright over there... sad

It's been that way for awhile now, unfortunately. The things you need most generally cost a ton. Food prices are going up as well. It also depends on where you live in the US.

Yay internet indeed! And yay for education. I'm glad you posted that, I was getting tired of seeing posts from people who just assume that gaia either doesn't need our money at all, or they absolutely do. Doesn't this just further support how these items should have (or at least some of them) been in gold shops as a gold sink if our end of the support is already being held up with all of the other things in the GCS?

The only reason I stayed with Gaia since 03 was for this little private RP guild I joined back in 05... that an patrolling towns for cyberers to flame and report. (it's fun and reporting them gives you a warm feeling inside)

Doubt reporting them does anything mind you because I tend to see the people I reported the night before asking for sex with pixelated images on a computer screen the very next day! scream

seriously, and gas also, and I live in Virginia where they came up with the stupid new law where you drive recklessly you get a $1,000 fine per year for three years to get money to fix the roads. This is so sad. TT___TT I miss the days where the gas was only like $1 per gallon emo

@Destroyer: I go to a pretty cheap college, it's about $4,200 for half a year, so about $10,000 per year with the books for instate, and that's without dorms. With a form it's another $6,000-$12,000 per year. And out of state = double to triple. And AGAIN, I got to a pretty cheap college. ::sighs::

I, too, am still mad about Easter/St. Patrick's/April Fools' non-events. I hope your letter is well received. Keep in mind, though, that Gaia admins KNOW we're unhappy. It's the people who are FUNDING Gaia that matter. It's called a secondary boycott. Don't buy from the advertisers and investors. Still probably won't have much impact (just TRY to boycott Time-Warner and see how much of your entertainment life is left), but might make users' concerns more important.

I don't fault them on not getting Battle out on time - that's more of an issue of they never should've said a precise date in the first place.

But I do fault them for coming across as very money-hungry. Yes, everyone tells us eleventybillion times that the site isn't all about money, blahblahblah... but the way it seems to me is that they're out for the allmighty $$$. Come on, $10 EIs? One item for $10? The Random Item Containers for Money (Bag of Win, ZOMG Box, etc)? Aquariums that cost about the same as it would IRL to set up, but your little pixelated fish could die after 2-6 weeks? No gold alternative to Aquariums? (Marketplace doesn't count, that's just dumb to pay the ton of gold to buy items that are going to die anyway, and you're also at the mercy of the seller.)

Yes the site has bills, costs money, etc. There are ways to get money from users, and for me, the way it is isn't working one bit. They've become so money-hungry that actually I refuse to give them any of my money. I refuse to support the nonsense that they're putting out.

I assume my money (at best) would go to support the work of the Staff in one way or another. Well, I don't want my money used to make useless, dumb, features like Labeller, Aquariums, VJ, Cars, Celebrity Snare, etc. Start making cool features, or improve upon existing features (Fishing, Journals, Guilds, Towns, Homes, etc) and maybe I'll want to support the site again with my money.

Oh god, gas. Yes, it's very bad. That's...awful. I mean really. Over here, there's a $5000 fine for throwing cigs out the window. =_= It's larger than the fine for littering.

It's "fixed". As in, they're done working on it and we can deal with the mess left behind.

I do too. I really do. I got my first art commission here, and the wonders it's done for my writing is great, too. I don't want to have to quit.

It's not all the sponsors, though. There are some things that Gaia can easily change without it emptying their pockets. Nothing stopped them from giving us at least an Easter even that was promised to us. But no, they were too busy with the BS.

I remember when everyone used to go on and on about Lanzer working way past work hours just to make this site better. Now he barely sits down with us during the "Ask the Admin" thread before running off to lunch or something. He needs food, sure, but damn, what happened to all of that dedication?

I've been on here since late '05. But still...i think its really irritatting that they constantly add new "features" when they can't fix the old ones. Go back to the forums a few years ago...not once do you see a subject containg in any way the words "Giving away stuff, leaving Gaia" but now look...almost a new one is made every hour. Because why? becaue instead of being who we were and dedicating many hours on the computer in the dark earning money till our fingers bleed and eyes dried out rather than being aoutside and being active to earn items. Now all you gotta do is take your happy self down to Target, or 7-11 for crying out loud, fork over the cash you should be spending on food, or idk GAS! to get an item within seconds instead of weeks or months...even days if you spend enough time on it. The only reason i havn't left is because this is one of the ways i can stay in touch with friends and family who have moved out of city, out of state...
thats all i have to say....for now at least.
ps. I do agree that zOMG is a really retarded name for the battle system and they say that there was a contest...i don't know about any of you...but i don't remember that announcement/notification...

Exactly! I would be all too happy to pay money (if I had any) if I thought it would be used for something useful. I honestly am still in shock over the fact that they wasted even a breath of air on VJ. Seriously, why would they think that it would be good? Because of youtube? The idea wasn't bad, but the lack of moderation, updates, etc. makes it awful. I don't use it and don't plan to, but I could see where it could be useful to groups of friends that want to watch something together.

Homes is another thing they've forgotten about, as is fishing. Weren't we promised new fish some time ago?

And as far as Battle goes, I'm in no rush. I want it to be worth playing, so they can take their time on it. It's lying about the deadline that's annoying, as you said.
