Welcome to Gaia! ::

You don't understand.

They only estimated that the battle system would be out three years ago, not promised. And the date "promised" two years ago was actually only an educated guess. And last year's Halloween was only what they thought. And the beginning of this year was only another estimation. They had to estimate so we wouldn't get disappointed. And by this summer was when it was really going to come out, but then they had some glitches. It wasn't their fault at all, because they've been working so hard and devoting all their money to the aqu..battle system. And summer "means until the end of summer, so sept. 22nd." So there's really no need to complain until then.

...what's today's date again?

You so said everything many users are feeling right now.

God, it's sad that they probably won't even listen to this reasonable, well thought out, well written thread. .-.

...what's today's date again?

The expected date has been pushed back a few months... and will probably be pushed back again. Also, I'll bet 10k that it's going to come with some CS attachments. rolleyes

Back in 2004, I had a general idea of what was going on when glitches and stuff hit. Now? Russian roulette. I have to wait for the woes of the SF bitching because another mass banning has taken place to figure out that there's a glitch. I really can't help but think about how long it might be before I accidentally end up in the wrong place at the wrong time and end up being banned too.

The staff members still obviously care. I give my props to them. ... But something along the line has changed a lot. The fact that what used to be a fun little community has become the source for someone's bottom line just bothers me, especially when it wasn't like that when I started.

Not to mention- with all the money being poured in, what are we getting?

Poor quality MCs (I understand that the artists have deadlines, but MCs done at less that 100% quality I still find unacceptable), glitches that strike like bandits, when glitches do rear their heads- they take forever to fix with no one having any idea of what's going on. We STILL don't have enough moderators and many of the forums are overrun by TOS breaking threads and posts. Guilds is behind in the times, the Avatar and Art Arenas are wonky sauce... plus, we've been getting even MORE ads.

I wouldn't mind all this money grubbing if there was some degree of professionalism and if things were really getting better. But, they're not. It's like Gaia's trying to have their cake and eat it too.

They whambulance about money and then when things are broken or going weird they make excuses.

"The money goes towards keeping Gaia free and fun!"

Really? Because things like the Aquarium say otherwise.

Unbeatable Raider

You forgot the promise they made they would never change the gold shop prices but they changed the price of the imp potion by lowering it 6k.
I read every word and I have to agree. Even two years ago this site had a completely different atmosphere. Everything has changed and not for the users benefit, but more for Gaia's. I realize the features are there for the users, but what is the point in having them if not every user can use it freely like all other features? I also disagreed with the zOMG faster ticket. I have one because I've been waiting so long to see what the game was like, but I don't agree with them having certain users enter because of the cash shop. If they say it was to limit the amount of users that can go in first, that's a joke because the amount of tickets available seems almost endless in the boxes. Most people have one, there was no limit as far as I could tell on how many were dished out-there's a lot available in the mp.

I don't think Gaia has intentionally turned their back on us, I just think they're so wrapped up in being a successful business that they may overlook some things from a gaining income perspective rather than looking at it from the customer's perspective. I say customer instead of buyer because Gaia is a service and even if each person is not paying for things on this site, they are still a customer. A person who enters a store is still a customer, even if they walk out with no purchase in their hands. Their perspective, from our end at least since we are told very little about the inner workings of Gaia, seems to be "sell, sell, sell" rather than "how can we balance this all so we can gain and the users are happy?" I sigh at the bolded bit because it should be "remain" rather than "are" but I haven't seen a lot of users that happy with Gaia for a while now. I'm not saying that all are unsatisfied, but quite a few.

Thank you. I'm still expecting a load of criticism about this thread, but we'll see. I hope they do read it, if only to understand what they're doing to the users.

Bullshit. Bull. ********. s**t.
Gaia is not a happy site anymore - it's a corporation, probably with stocks and bonds available. Gaia pays for their employees' lunches. And yet, they want more, more, more, MORE.

Gaia doesn't need more money. Can you honestly look me in the eyes, and with a straight face, tell me that Gaia is barely making ends meet keeping the servers up, and yet can manage to treat it's employees like royalty? Can you tell me, straight up, that Gaia, with its MILLIONS of members, almost all of which buy EIs, MC's, etc., sometimes more than one at a time, is DESPERATE for cash? Can you seriously tell me that they're barely making ends meet as it is?

No. You can't. And if you do, you're lying through your teeth.

Gaia is just trying to get rich(er). Gaia isn't operated from some loser's mother's basement, it has it's own office, which I hear is very nice.

The simple matter is, Gaia has become yet another corporate con-artist, who has made its fortune selling pixels and poor-quality clothing. Gaia doesn't ask for money anymore just to keep its site up, or out of generosity... just pure, unadulterated greed.

I had no idea about that, but I'll add it up there. While I think that lowering the price isn't that bad, they should still stick with what they say.

I agree, but I do think a lot of it is intentional, or more likely they just don't want to face their mistakes. You can't say they're doing it accidentally when they supposedly read SF all the time. They have to know how we feel, or else they lied about reading our input.

I agree completely. I decided to stay away from that because of the people that will go nuts about it. Bringing up how much money Gaia really has creates a shitstorm.

If you want Gaia's policy's to change, don't just post on the message board, although that is a great way to drum up support.

You gotta hit Gaia where it hurts, boycott them, don't buy any MCs or Cash Shop Items. Gaia will notice something is wrong when they notice the donations dropping.

Do what you can and make your voice heard here.

I already haven't bought from Gaia in almost a year. I used to donate pretty regularly.
YOU KNOW HOW IT ALL STARTED.

When at the end of 06 and then by December of 06.

Guess what? THEY CHANGED THE LAYOUT.

And it became a Teen Hangout.

I joined in Feb of 2006 by the way.

I already have boycotted the CS, and I stopped buying MCs a long time ago. I'll check out that link, too. Thanks.
