"REGULAR" status on hold until we can get back up and running...
Right now, anyone and everyone is able to play and win
You still need to follow the "RULES" but you don't need to be a "REGULAR"
To be or not to be a REGULAR...
Becoming a "regular" isn't all that difficult. Basically time and participation are the keys! There are, of course, a few rules... So read them...
Most importantly I ask that people chat and stop by pretty regularly for a few weeks without any promise of gold, prizes, or rewards in order to qualify.
For example, if someone were to come in and immediately enter a bump contest - bumping for ten days and having 2,000 posts - the mods would not nominate them to become a regular since that person obviously just came only for the sake of trying to win something.
I truly value the people who come to the thread on a regular basis - and therefore I want to give them the first opportunity to win the big payouts.
RULES
1. Your account must be at
least six months old.
2. Your profile must NOT be set to private.
3. Your behavior here must be excellent and there must not be any complaints against you.
4. A moderator must nominate you to the other mods.
5. The mods will have a discussion when a nomination is held, and if we agree that you're ready we'll put it to a vote with the other regulars.
FAQ's
Q. Do you have a formalized system to determine who becomes a regular?
A. Yep! We do now!
Q. What the heck is a Common Irregular?
A. It's a term I've come up to describe people who have been around a lot, but aren't quite regulars yet. They are the folks that are here all the time and who participate and are the ones who will qualify to become regulars before anyone else.
Q. So why do the regulars vote?
A. We're very much like a private virtual club. If a few of the regulars don't get along with you, and you're allowed to be a regular, then their thread experience suffers. They've already earned their position.
Q. How come I came on around the same time that user x________X did, but they are already a regular and I'm not???
A. Well, there are several possible answers to this one. (1) it's possible you're just bumping and not chatting! (2) A mistake. I'm only human. Sometimes I screw up when I'm doing updates. It's happened before and It will happen again. (3) One of the mods actually knows the person in question.
(4) You're not here very often. I know, sucks, right. But...it's the way it goes. Someone who is here every day for a month chatting and participating will become a regular faster than someone who started posting on the same day but shows up only once a week. Time is important, but PARTICIPATION is the trump card.
Q. Do you validate every single winner?
A. Yep! Okay, basically everyone is under a microscope until the mods know we can trust you. People who are regulars are allowed a little slack. Why? Because they have already proven themselves to be honest and trustworthy! Being a "Regular" does have its advantages!
Q. So basically being a regular means you guys can all trust me?
A. Um...pretty much...yeah.
Q. So when I become a regular that means you won't check to see if I won or not?
A. Well, no. It means that when you say you've bumped 1,000 times that we don't need to go over every single post with a fine-tooth-comb. We do validate ALL winners, but if you say you won fifty times in a dice game, we might spot check half the posts. But be warned - if we find one problem...just ONE...each and every winning post from that moment on is considered to be suspect until we've assured ourselves that it was an honest mistake.
Q. Once I'm a regular - I'm always a regular, right?
A. No, not really. Just because you were able to make it to "regular" status does not mean you automatically keep it. Rule breaking will get you pulled down right away...and then you have to work your way back up to the top again.
Q. What if I don't break any rules, but stay away for a while, will I lose my regular status?
A. It is entirely possible. When we're reviewing regulars and notice that you've been gone for a long time - we figure you left the thread. So your name will be taken down to make room for someone else to come up.
Q. Does it mean I can't be a regular if I only come to play the games?
A. Pretty much. Don't get me wrong, I want people to play the games! It's why I spend the time in putting them together! I love this stuff! But the regulars are people who are kinda like family so they get better presents and gifts then the people who are only out for the "stuff." There are a LOT of people who play the games and have never posted. No problem. But they are kinda cheating themselves because they will never qualify to play the special games, the in-thread live games, or qualify for the big prizes.
MISC and GENERAL FAQ's
Q. Where does all that gold and all those prizes come from???
A. 100% comes from me. I deny practically all donations and I never charge anyone to play.
Q. Why the heck would you do that??
A. Easy. I love Gaia.
Q. I sent you a PM with an answer to a game and you never responded.
A. If you qualified to win something, I should have responded. I try to let people know what's going on. However, if you only answered one question to something that required you to correctly answer five, I may or may not respond.
Q. I sent you a PM letting you know that I think I am a regular...why isn't my name on the list?
A. It might be that just haven't quite qualified for that status yet even though you think you have. First you have to get the attention of one of the mods. Then we dicsuss it and put it to a thread regular vote.
Q. What's the difference between a moderator and a hitman?
A. A thread moderator is someone who helps distribute gold and prizes through the mule account, validates winners, and has the responsibility of being in charge of large chunks of prize gold. They are also incredibly important when I have a question regarding the thread. The "hitman" is a jr. moderator. They have special tasks and duties as far as keeping things running smoothly, handling disagreements, reporting spam, reporting suspected mule accounts, etc. They have less to do with how the thread operates and more to do with keeping the peace.
Q. I'd like to become a moderator or a hitman, how do I do that?
A. The first step is to become a regular. Then, as the thread grows and there becomes a need to have additional help the mods will discuss the need and the names of those who we think could benefit the thread as a jr. mod. We'll put it to a vote and then if we're in agreement, an invitation for you to join the staff will be messaged to you. It's a little secretive, so you won't know we're thinking about "hiring" you until an invitation has been sent out.
Q. Do your mods / hitmen get paid?
A. Well, I don't give anyone cash money. But yes, the mods do get bonus items from time to time - things that nobody else receives. This is just a "thank you" for all their hard work and dedication to making this an awesome thread.
Q. Can mods / hitmen play the games?
A. Of course they can! And they can WIN big too! XD
