Fire him. See if you can get the money back or call the cops. Do you still have hours to pay him for? Can always deduct some of the money out of his pay check.

Yeah, I don't know much about cryptocurrencies and I'm definitely not a lawyer.
I would think you'd still be able to though because they're still assets that belong to your company, right?
But considering how recent those kind of investments are, maybe there aren't many legal protections in place for them?
If so, that's really something that local governments need to address - especially since more and more people are investing in those kinds of financial assets.
That really sucks, I really really hope this employee returns those assets to you then.
