Anybody who uses Towns is probably familiar with a current glitch in towns, where I Am poses on certain items that were recently patched by the green-goo fix now fail to load correctly in town, causing the client to crash, which causes the screen to turn black.
Because the black screen is caused by the client crashing when it tries to load these newly glitched avatars, stopping the avatars from trying to load in the first place will stop you from getting blackscreened.
This work-around requires AdBlock Plus or a similar filtering browser add-on. This guide is written for AdBlock Plus.
The downside to using this workaround is that you will not be able to see avatars in Towns besides your own, unless you whitelist individual avatars.
arrow Firefox ABP instructions:
First, open the AdBlock Plus filter preferences by clicking the ABP logo on your browser and click Filter Preferences. Open the Custom Filters tab and look for the button in the top-right that says "Add Filter" (NOT Add Filter Group). Click it and add the following filter:
Press enter to save it to the list, and close the dialogue box.
Now, open Towns in a new TAB.
With the Towns window open and you standing at the trainstation, click on the adblock plus logo and click "Open Blockable Items."
In this list, you will see an avatar code that is colored red to indicate it is being blocked. This is your avatar code. You need to exclude your avatar from being blocked or you will not be able to move. To do this, right-click the avatar code and click "Add Exception Rule for this Filter," and choose the custom filter that has the whole address, and not one of the options with a * in the URL.
Save that, close both the ABP window and Towns, and then re-open the towns.

Now, open Towns in a new TAB.

arrow Google Chrome ABP instructions:
First you will need to obtain your avatar code. To do this, open Towns in a new tab and go to an unpopulated town (type a random 4 digit number in the Go To box on the Directoy screen, such as 5933 or 9224). It is important that you are in an unpopulated town so that you can easily find your avatar code. Now, click on the address bar and press ctrl+shift+i to bring up Chrome Developer tools.
At the top of the Developer Tools window are buttons, click the one that says network.
Along the side are a bunch of file names ending in .php and .swf. You are looking for an address that says _full.swf, with a load of random numbers and letters in front (for example, 7dd5355f710451_full.swf)
Once you've found that, right click on it and copy the link address.
Close developer tools and open the AdBlock Plus window by right-clicking the logo and clicking Options.
In this window, click the button labeled "Add your own filters"
Paste the link you copied into the box next to the Add Filter button, then prepend it with two @@, as such:
and click Add Filter.
This exclude your avatar from being blocked after you block all other avatars in the next step, which will allow you to move around.
Now that your avatar is excluded, paste the following into the box:

Now, close Towns and refresh it.

If you open Towns and cannot see any avatar besides your own, you've done everything correctly and are now immune to the blackscreen crash.
arrow IMPORTANT NOTE: you will need to re-whitelist your avatar every time you change it, as you are assigned a different code every time you do.
