The Oracle of Ages

She paused only briefly before a doorway to turn her head to glance back towards Falkner, faint smirk still firmly in place. Without saying a word, she opened the door and stepped right through, leaving it wide open. The door led to nothing, seemingly. There was no light, there was no corridor that could be seen, only pitch black darkness.

"....Oh this is going to be good. I get it. It's the "Whack the hell out of your shins game..." He muttered, trying not to be creeped out by the pure blackness of the hall ahead of him as he approached. It was just ....really dark. Like a dark room. Yeah.... had to be.... only they didn't have the red lights so you could actually -navigate-...or if they did they weren't turned on. Wierd placement for a darkroom though...maybe they were just wierd. I mean who else let their kids let strangers into the house?
"...Look, what are the rules to this game, huh? Help a guy out here?" He patted his pockets again, feeling for a keychain flashlight, which he realized he'd left on the dresser at home, one hand on his camera for safety. If he tripped and fell over the furniture he didn't want to hurt the camera. Solid as it was, the lenz could take damage and was expensive to replace.
He was a little more leery with every step, but cringingly headed for the blackness beyond the doorway anyway, trying to come up with some explination why the light from this side didn't make so much as a square of light on -that- side. Tricky lighting maybe?

Once through the doorway Falkner would find himself, not within a simple hallway or even a dark room as he had guessed at, but a world made entirely of sand, a sharp almost biting wind, and a bright, brilliant sky.

The little girl stood a few feet away and giggled from beneath the scarf that was wrapped around her head and partially about her face. "We're home."

....Somewhere....somehow... he must have come in contact with something enormously halucinogenic. He just wasn't sure what it had been. The sudden change in lightning made him reel slightly from the dim coridor to the sweeping sands, and he almost tripped as his feet sunk into unexpected and yeilding sand instead of solid, familar flooring.
"Wh... Huh??? Th...." He stared at the girl, gesturing behind them and looking breifly over his shoulder to gesticulate wildly to the door they'd just come from. "How??"
Maybe he really had hit his head, or had it hit. Maybe he was lying on someone's floor -drooling-, but this felt alarmingly real, and he didn't remember any dream where being drilled by a hot wind and sand felt quite so -real-.
