T'was back in the Olde days..
...Long before the Everlands were covered with buildings and farms -- the world was filled with magick. Whatever you wished could be your command, from something as simple as lighting a fire for light and warmth, to summoning powerful creatures to do your bidding. At the center of this magick was the great Musineta mushroom, a towering fungi that oozed a powerful, magickal gas that enchanted the land. A pinch of powder made from the spores of a Musineta could provide enough magick for even the most powerful of spells.
Man lived in harmony with nature, only taking what they needed and nothing more. But then they grew greedy. The False Kings started wars, and harvested the sacred mushrooms to the brink of extinction. Only one remained - and it was frail, and nearly dying. It sat upon a ridge, called Wordsworth's Ridge, named after one of the many False Kings of Manfolk. Man could not see his mistake - he only wanted more and more and more. And so armies rose up in competition to get harvest the last, dying mushroom.
In response to Man's sins, Rangifer, the God of Magick, rose their haunches to the sky and created a mystical fog that covered the land. The fog was so thick, and so intoxicating, that the human world screeched to a halt. They could not leave their homes or castles for a fortnight. And then, the fog cleared, and in it's place was left a sacred glade - surrounding the ridge that which the last remaining Musineta.
The glade did not stop Man's thirst for magick, however. Their Armies rushed into the glade... Only to find themselves overtaken by fog. Suddenly, they were lost... And then before long, all went black.. When they awoke, they were back at the entrance again. Humans are persistent creatures, however, but try as they might, they would return to the entrance each time. Always failing each time they tried with selfish intent..
What Man had not realized was he had been tricked - Rangifer could not protect the glade with all of their duties, so they created a guardian for the mushroom - the Efflyse. Magickal and pure creatures who ensure that only those who's hearts are pure and uncorrupted by greed are the only ones who may reach the remaining Musineta. When someone with impure intentions entered the glade, the Efflyse would raise their tails in unison and the forest would fill yet again with their magickal fog, and the raiders would be deterred.
It's been 300 years since then. The year is now 1469. Magick is gone from the world of Man, but the Efflyse still remain, guarding the final Musineta until the day arrives that someone deserves to use its powers for the greater good. Until then, the Efflyse continue to do their duty, freely living out their lives in the sacred glade beneath Wordsworth's Ridge... Which is where our story continues. With you.

The Efflyse are the sacred creatures created by the God of Magick, Rangifer. Thought to be a myth by most of the world of Man, for the humans living in the area that surrounds Wordsworth's Ridge they are as real as their fingers and toes. They have a special power that allows them to protect the last remaining Musineta, a mushroom with powerful, magickal spores.
The gasses and vapors that their bodies produce are capable of miraculous things. Their breath can grow flowers, and their gas can disorient and confuse any living creature. Using their gifts, they maintain and protect their glade.
KID
*one week to age
For the first few days of their life, Efflysan kids are extremely fragile. They can do little but bleat loudly at their mothers, eat, and sort of waddle around. But once the cotton minded bleariness of birth has been shaken from their heads, they turn into rambunctious balls of energy. In general, Kids find nothing more delightful than bounding and hopping around. Leapfrog and other games involving jumping and bouncing are extremely common. The life of a Kid is carefree, spent playing in the sunny meadows of the sacred glade.
HOGGET
*two weeks to age
Like most teens, the life of a Hogget is often filled with rebellion and mood swings. Jumping and playing is often exchanged for play fights. This is also when Efflyse begin to learn their trade, often taking on an apprenticeship to discover what their role as an adult will be. This is also when they begin to develop their magickal powers. It's extremely hard to control at first, so things can get a little awkward in this stage as the Hoggets try to navigate the strange grey area between their kid years and adulthood.
BUCKS AND DOES
* Aging further requires events or RP.
Assuming they safely made it out of their Hogget years without too much humiliation, the Efflyse becomes a full grown Buck or Doe. Now they are in full control of their gifts, and are fully integrated into Efflysan society, serving the community in whatever their chosen role is. They are now free to do whatever they please - whether that is to dedicate their life to serving the glade, or start a family to provide for the next generation of Efflyse.
LORDS
*Final stage of growth possible at present.
For most, adulthood is the final step for Efflyse. But there are a rare, select few who are chosen to become Lords of the Glade by Rangifer themself. These Lords assume the shape of their God, and serve as spiritual leaders and chieftains for the rest of Efflysan society. While most Efflyse are content with their lot in life, there are those who dedicate their lives to study and honing of their magickal abilities, hoping to one day become a servant at Rangifer's side in the Ether. They are an integral part of Efflysan society, their vapors are powerful, and often they provide much needed protection and guidance for their subjects. These enlightened Efflyse are always addressed with 'Lord' before their name, no matter their gender. When a Lord releases their plume of magick, the sound is akin to an Angel's trumpet. Like a Siren's call, it can bewilder a potential attacker.
PYGMYS
*A genetic mutation where an Efflyse is very dainty and small. These little creatures are INCREDIBLY rare.
As described, a Pygmy is a very, very small Efflyse. Usually they will be much teenier at birth and they will never grow much larger than a Hogget. That doesn't mean their magic isn't any less potent, however, and a Pygmy can still become a Lord (though I haven't made the lineart yet. TBA eventually.) Pygmys are incredibly adorable and usually quite hyper! It's almost as if they don't lose the sprite-like nature of being a child.
BRIVLORN/HUMANS
*The humanoid race portrayed generally as antagonists. The only way to obtain is through very rare applications and customs.

Oh, no! Phew, it's just a Brute. Brutes are a very large variety of Efflyse. They're sorta fluffy, too! They aren't too commonly seen in the Glade, but it seemed this male wanted to come say hello. He seems to be the friendly sort, and believes that there are more humans in the world that will help the cause of the Efflyse. So, he's decided to venture out of the Glade... That's probably an unwise decision on his part, but lets face it: He's huge, there's no way we could stop him from doing what he wants.
