The wind teases the barren, snow-covered wasteland, picking up the crystal sediment that was left by the now passed clouds and teasing it around in sparkling swirls. The surface is untainted; the tension is perfectly taut. The silence under the moon and wind is astounding. You may think you are alone, but you are not. The sounds of paws soon can be heard, and off in the distance a sled pulls through the frosting, dogs pulling with trained expertise in front of it. Who are they? They are like you, the ones who look as dogs but feel with the wolf. The wind howls at your back, urging you toward the sled, but will you go?

Welcome to Mush!: a realistic shop for sled dogs. Does the intro captivate you? Seize your attention? If so, feel free to use the below navigation to educate yourself better on the art of mushing. Who knows... maybe the sled will beckon to you as well.

User ImageSo you came to this board on a whim and read the intro at the top. You liked what you saw, did you? But, I am sure you are confused as to what this board is really all about. I'll explain.

This board is the official shop thread for Mush!. What is Mush!, you ask? Mush! is a shop that sells 'sled dog' pups (similar to huskies). You purchase them as pups and role-play the pup as it grows up and into a sled dog harness. Eventually, its skills determine its position in its very own sled dog team! If the dog does not follow the path of a team member, then there are a number of paths it may choose! The life of a show dog or pack member for instance.

This is a realistic dog role-play as well. Role-playing your dog will allow it to grow and have relationships with those around him/her. You will not be required to play your dog, but it will miss out as it grows older if it has not been introduced properly and maintained in society. Without being in the society, your dog cannot attain an uncommon rank nor will it be able to breed or form teams. Please keep this in mind.

The main focus of Mush! is on the dogs. They can be owned, but humans aren't supposed to be integral characters in the role-play. Your dog can have some sort of owner, and that owner can even be yourself as long as you have a reasonable name. Human owners shouldn't have paragraphs of role-play that focuses on them, however. The only human that will need any kind of character development for role-play purposes is a team's musher. The musher will be created by the members of the team and will be used throughout all team posts. (S)he will be a community character that anyone on the team will be able to use.

Want to know more of the specifics? Read on into the next round of info!

Flatsale

o1. Even though these pets are not role-play required, at every flat sale there will be a posted prompt that you MUST reply to in order to be eligible.
o2. In a flat sale, there will be a role-play prompt posted. You will be allowed 30-45 minutes to reply to it and may post your response to the prompt within that allotted amount of time.
o3. After the specified amount of time, a STOP post will be posted. Those submitted on the same minute or before the stop post will be accepted. Any late entries will be ignored, except in cases where leniency is felt necessary (i.e. Gaia glitch).
o4. Each pup, if won, will cost 5k. If you do not have the funds to pay for it, and cannot have the money in 24 hours, a new winner will be chosen. Please consider this before you start posting.
o5. All posts must contain the phrase eat or be eaten.. Posts that do not contain this phrase (which can be anywhere in the post as long as it is clearly marked), will be disregarded.
o6. If you forget this phrase in your post and still have time, do not edit the post. Simply post again stating you forgot it and your post will again be valid. Do not edit your post for ANY reason. We understand that because it is a speed entry, you may have typos/incorrect wording/etc. Do not worry about it! Your writing talent will show regardless of these errors.

Auctions

o1. Don't plan your bids in the auction thread. It discourages others!
o2. Bids will only be accepted within the timeframe. Once time is up, the highest bidder wins
o3. If a bid is placed within 10 minutes of the end time, the auction will be extended an extra 10 minutes in order to guard against 'bid snipers'.

Raffles

o1. Tickets will be sold for a limited amount of time, so get 'em while they're hot!
o2. At the end of the time, a number will be selected from the list of ticket holders via the randomizer. If you are drawn first then you will have first pick from available pets. You are drawn second then you have second pick, and so on.
o3. Pay for the tickets right when you order them! The winners will not be drawn until all payments are received. If you do not pay within 24 hours of the end time, you will be removed from the list.

The roleplay takes place in a barren arctic wasteland. It is very similar to Alaska in conditions; usually covered in snow, save spring and summer, which are short. There are a few forests in the area; some dense and thick while others are thin and sparse. The dogs are not always exposed to the harsh wind and cold, however. Souna is the town in this area where the majority of the role-play will take place. Because the town is in a valley, the elements are slightly less harsh allowing the population to flourish. The people here have harnessed an energy source from a more northern river/waterfall that they have claimed themselves. Because of this, there is electricity, which means refrigerators, electric lamps, heating in houses, and other appliances. The cold is still severe, which prompts many to keep fires in their fireplaces for most of the year. Buildings range from house size to a slightly larger, "business" building. All of the structures have a rustic feel to them, and many are considered modern day log cabins. Many alleyways are created by the closeness of the buildings to one another. There are no vehicles here, save for the dog sled teams, and perhaps snow mobiles, and so the roads are unpaved but remain snowy. Beneath, there are graveled paths, almost like cobblestones, for when the snow does melt. There is one main, larger road through the town. Call it the 'main street', if you will. There are lots of decks and raised areas that are easy to slip under; including where basements would be put if the ground weren't frozen solid. These are good places for dogs to sleep at night; especially if they can find a warm spot or an old blanket to curl up on.

There is also a shipyard on the lake (which further south connects to the ocean) that is frozen over most of the time. You can sometimes find an abandoned vessel that may hold your interest if you wish to sleep there for the night. It is not advised, however, because the ropes that hold the ships down can break in the arctic weather, and if the ice is not thick enough, you may sail away. Please refer to the map below for visual reference! You can click key areas (like the Eskimo village and the town of Souna) to see more detailed maps, including trails and town districts, as well as find hidden locations on the map!

Did you find all the key locations on the map? There are five different locations (subforums) that are very important. Although there are some that are hidden (like a special cave, or a majestic field), your dog is free to explore them . The five areas are as followed:

These are important because they all have their own pack and team, which your dog may strive to join, and each has individual threads that you can interact with and garner special lines. Be sure to read each thread very carefully as obtainment is different for each one!

B e h a v i o r

A dog acts... like a dog. This is a realistic role play, which means that there are no strange things like wings and magical powers. If they had those, they'd be drawn in. However, they are not so please follow this policy. It would not get up and walk around on two legs, wear clothes, etc. On rare occasions, dogs can wear things like collars or bandannas (i.e. Jenna from Balto), it may even wear some Inuit, African, or other cultural themed items, like feathers or tail clips, but that's about it. The only thing unrealistic about them is that they can talk to each other.

You can develop any sort of accent you like for your dog. It can be trashy and rough or smooth and elegant. Whatever you decide suits him/her. Just keep language to a minimum, even if it is in their nature.

One common mistake that would be made while rping a sled dog is to make him/her sweat after working. Dogs do not have the ability to sweat. This is why they pant. Believe it or not, they sweat through their tongues on most occasions. This is a useful bit of information to keep in mind as your dog ages and starts to race/train.

It helps to keep in mind that dogs rely in their senses. Sight is useful, yes, but other senses are more heightened than that. For example, dogs have excellent hearing. Their range is far larger than that of a humans. You must remember that if a small sound is made, it is customary to roll an ear in that direction. Also, scent is extremely acute in dogs. They can scent things up to a mile off if the wind is right, so remember when the wind blows they'd be scenting it for any danger, food, bad weather, etc. They can sense things such as storms, so they can be moody before a storm hits. The clouds coming or thunderheads would make them irritated.

Teams
------------------------------------

The Sled
User Image
Dogs are harnessed to the sled in a certain order to assure the best and most efficient pulling/leading combination. In Mush!, the dogs are harnessed as follows:

---------Lead - Lead
---------Point - Point
---------Swing - Swing
---------R group (regular team dogs)
---------Wheel - Wheel

In order for the team to compete in races, the sled must be pulled by no less than three dogs but no more than ten. This can be any combination of the above formation. Some sleds are pulled by the full set of two of each type, while others are constructed of only one lead or more team dogs and less specified ranking dogs. In order to compete in a race your team must have AT LEAST three dogs. Keep in mind that there will be an influx of team members in each team (each is listed in a different location), however this is to ensure there are available members on racing day! When racing day comes you must get with your team and see whose online and what ranks their dogs are. (see below for more information on races)

You cannot simply appoint yourself a lead and pull a sled by yourself. This is not logical. The other most common formation of the team is as follows:

---------Lead
---------Point - Point
---------Wheel - Wheel

Each dog, once full grown (and rped), will receive a chance at a harness. Whether he/she uses it or not is up to the owner. If they do not join a team, an adult/common pose is their final stage. They are welcome to join a team at any point if they are invited. The harnesses are of the standard sort; built well so as not to hurt the dogs, even after extended periods of use. They are not always tethered to the sled, so they can roam most of the time.

The R-group (otherwise unspecified team dogs) is a group of dogs that is not necessary for the team to perform. However, if you want them there, they'll be there. They're sort of there to learn the ropes; oftentimes rookies that weren't yet fit for other positions. After running as a part of the R-group, they may be assigned a more specified rank. If a team has the r-group, or a set of swings, then two leads will needed to add more pull.
User Image
Facing the Cold

Don't forget the dogs also wear booties to keep the snow and ice from their toes on occasion. If they are going for the longer hauls in a team, make sure you remember to protect their feet in your posts! We wouldn't want bleeding, frost-bitten toes, now would we? They are not mandatory, however. Some dogs have very tough feet; so it is really the rpers choice.

Joining a Team

Joining a team is not as simple as it may sound! Team dogs are the second highest ranking dogs (right under champs and medics) and to become a champ you must first become a team member, so joining is no easy task. First things first, you need to read all of the information in this post to ensure that you have full grasp of the concept. You will then need to decide which rank best suits your dog. Though a team acts like a unit, some ranks are traditionally higher then others. A lead, for instance, is higher then an r-group dog. Thus, requirements for each will be slightly different. Also remember that meeting these requirements is individual and not group based. Essentially this how you go about joining a team.

1. You will need to complete a specific number of roleplays (2 for t-dogs, 3 for swings, 4 for wheels and points, 5 for leads). The roleplays must be finished, logged, and consist of at least 15 posts (2 paragraphs each).
2. Your dog, obviously needs to be an adult, but it also must have interacted with at least three different dogs. (at least one of these must be a future team mate. The roleplay with a future team mate MUST be one on one)
3. You will need to post in the team's thread and interact with the musher (which is NPC'd by the mule). This is only done when the shop is taking team applications, which happens every couple of months. Interaction may require small tasks for your dog like racing, or finding objects in the snow. Once this is complete you will be assimilated into the group and your dog will be recolored onto the new lines.

T e a m R a n k s

    Lead
The lead is the sort of 'alpha' of the group. The ranks are not strictly enforced in a team, but the lead is the brains of the outfit. If he/she/they want to pull rank, they will. And look out! The lead is the one who leads the team, placed at the front of the sled. They are generally very intelligent as well as fast and not as strong as per say the wheel dogs.
    Point
The point dogs are the ones who run behind the lead dogs. They have to be able to keep up as well as keep the dogs behind them from bunching up or falling behind. They are responsible for keeping the speed and course the lead sets as well as doing a larger part of the pulling.
    Swing
Swing dogs are basically a second row of point dogs. These dogs are also there to keep the sled moving at a regular pace and keep the dogs behind them from bunching up on the lead. They are responsible for keeping the dogs behind them in line as well as to keep them moving.
    T-Dogs
Also referred to as the 'r-group', these dogs are simply there with no other specific rank to give the sled extra power and speed. They are often added in to get them used to different positions until they are finally ready to accept one of the more advanced positions. Being the rookies, this part is usually made up of inexperienced dogs. There can be up to two pairs on the sled, but if too many dogs are on the sled the team can become sluggish, confused, and just one big mess.
    Wheels
Normally the bulkiest dogs on the team, the wheel dogs are positioned directly in front of the sled. They are the strongest of the team, and when the command is given they are the ones who really get the sled started. Their main priority is to help the sled turn and not slide uncontrollably.

Jargon

Wanna be hip? Use some cool words in your posts so you really sound like you know your stuff? Here's a little list of words you might wanna know/use in your posts!

Basket: The main body of a sled; where passengers or cargo/gear can be carried.
Booties: Slippers for dogs, worn while working under certain conditions to prevent ice forming between their toes. Made of a wide range of fabrics, including fleece and Gore-tex.
Brushbow: The curved piece out in front of the main body of a sled, designed to stop brush from damaging the sled.
Dog bag: A fabric bag carried on a race sled, used to put a sick or injured dog into in order to carry him to a place where he can be cared for.
Driving bow/handle bow: The handle the musher holds onto.
Easy!: The command to slow the dogs down.
Gangline: The main line that the dogs and sled are attached.
Gee: The command to turn the dogs right.
Haw: The command to turn the dogs left.
Hike!: The command to get the team moving (more common than mush).
Mush!: A less common command to get the team moving.
Neckline: A short line (10-12 inches) attached to the harness and gangline, that keeps the dog in line.
On by!: The command to go by another team or other distraction.
Pedaling: Pushing the sled along with one foot while the other is still on the sled.
Rigging: All the gear that keeps the dog attached to the sled.
Safety line: An extra line from the gangline to the sled, in case the main fitting breaks.
Snow hook: A large metal hook that can be driven into firm snow to anchor a team for a short period of time without tying them.
Snub line: A rope attached to the back of the sled, which can be tied to a tree to hold the team when the snow is not firm enough to use a snow hook.
Stakeout: A main chain with separate short chains to attach several dogs to. May be strung between the front and back bumpers of a truck, or between two trees.
Stanchions: Upright pieces that attach runners to the sled.
    Tack: Another word for harnesses.
Tuglines: The main line that connects the dog's harness to the gangline - the line the dog tugs on.
Whoa: The command to stop the team

User Image
Racing

You may have individual races within your team (district subforum) at any point you wish! You can compete against your teammates for extra practice (and sometimes will be awarded slots) or you can have a small mini race against an opponent. If you choose to race against a team member then you and your rp partner may choose how set up and the actual racing is done. However if you choose to race against a member of an opposing team you must follow this format:

- come together OOCly and decide from which point the race will start and end (ex. to the meat market and back)
- Make a thread in the area you are racing in, each person may do an intro post
- Appoint each dog three numbers, 1 - 10. There should be four left over numbers. Use random number to roll 1 - 10. If a left over number is rolled then the race is tied. Otherwise someone's winning number should hit. You can roll in thread or break the roleplay to roll.
- Now that you have the results rp it out! The fuller your rp (in content and length) the more likely it is your dog might gain slots, chronicle items or get a chance surprise!

Team Races: Races that involve the whole team are shop run and will be explained on a case by case basis, as prizes and rules are always different. On racing day the mule will explain all stipulations and a thread will be set up in the Eskimo village (where all official trails are). In order to race, your team must gather enough members to participate. Even though there are a larger number of ranks within a team, there should only be the correct formation racing on the given day. This may mean some members are going to sit out, which is realistic in the sled dog world.

Packs
------------------------------------

The Basics

Something to be feared, street dogs are the wild at heart. They live solely based off the primordial desires of the here and now. It isn't uncommon for these canine miscreants to pick fights or bully others around, though they will usually only attack canines of a lower standing then themselves. For instance, a street dog might attack another dog of the streets, a teen or pup, a dim-witted common dog, and certainly a stray. Streets almost never attack humans or higher ranked dogs, though it has been known to happen before. They often form "packs", much like their wolf ancestors, and this gang-like structure helps them survive, when they might otherwise turn into strays themselves. Please note that only street dogs may join packs (mongrels and miscreants are bumped up from this stage). Other dogs may be on good terms of the pack, but they might not be actual members. (it is unrealistic for some stages to live on the streets).

At the top of the pecking order is the mongrel. Mongrels are like the alphas of the pack (if there are more then three mongrels in a pack they are considered heads of the 'war council'), and may sometimes look as sickly and unkempt as a stray. Despite their obvious 'tramp-ish' nature however, what they lack in health and general well being, they make up for in great strength and influence. In order for a dog to attain the ranking of mongrel the rper must first have two roleplays on hand, an additional roleplay with at least two pack members, and must have won four dog fights. To count, a dog fight must be completed and logged.

Directly under the mongrel is the miscreants. These can be just as powerful and sneaky as a mongrel, but do not accept an alpha-like role for one reason or another. They are adapt at stealing food, and are known for their fighting abilities. For a dog to become a miscreant they would need to have two roleplays, two won dogs fights (To count a dog fight must be completed and logged), and they need to go on a food run. A food run is run as followed:

- A roleplay between the dog aiming for miscreant and at least one of the mongrels is started.
- The mongrel should send the dog out for food, in which case a request is made to the mule and the mule will roll from a list of food items.
- If a choice food item is won then the dog is successful, if a lesser item is won then the dog has failed.

User Image
Fighting

At the pinnacle of street dog gangs lie dog fights. There is a saying among dogs and humans alike, that the more the dog suffers and the more the dog fights, then the tougher it will become. After all, what doesn't kill only makes one stronger. It is certainly not encouraged that dogs fight in RL, but it is allowed, in correlation to the setting, through roleplay. You are allowed to roleplay your dog in a fight with another dog or another animal at any time you wish. Your dog may have a fight with an NPC or another dog you own at anytime, however if you want it to officially count (i.e to be used for dog fights) it MUST be with another user's dog.

When dog fighting officially, meaning your dog and another roleplayer's dog, then you must notify the mule, via PM (dog names and the start of the dog fight, five posts thus far) so that we may roll for stats and log all attained injuries. Fights will be rolled on ANY given day, essentially when we have time to roll, so there might be a slight delay!

All right! You finally got your cute little fuzzy soon-to-be sled dog! But...how will it grow up? Once it joins a team, how will you know its rank? Here's the guide so you won't get confused! To get all the growth information or make specific requests, please visit the 'Growth Requests and Cert troubles' thread in the guild. This explains the growth rate and more info about what stages your dog can obtain or grow into.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Female Stages / Male Stages / Unisex Stages:

Common stages (house, hunting, stray, street) can be obtained for free. You must simply post in the growing thread (located in the guild) for your teen or pup, otherwise your dog will grow into the default ranking.

Teams, medics, and uncommon stages all have different criteria to obtain those lines! If interested visit the different pages in the guild and the information on the front page! These lines are for those active in the shop and interested in assimilating into the concept more.

Since the town of Souna lies enraptured by the endless woods, majestic mountains, and other natural elements it is no surprise that there are plenty of woodland creatures that a dog could meet along their journey. With that being said, these are also animals that can be roleplayed by yourself to interact with dogs or they can be used as standalones. Space here is not measured in feet or miles, but in endless horizons. It is a place where nature is master and all else is subordinate. This is why we have chosen to offer these creatures up for you. To improve on the dynamics of roleplay, to expand your skills with acquiring a number of different animals, and to offer a completion to the shop art.

Please read this guide carefully, as these are not traditional "familiars". They are 'wildlife', and are not intended to be companions in the way familiars are seen as. Some may be roleplayed as having a bond with your dog, however for some it simply isn't plausible. That is why it is imperative to read all appropriate information before obtainment is sought.

F o o d C h a i n

In the tome of the wild, the only law that applies is that of eat or be eaten. As much as some people would like to roleplay their dog as having a BFF of a hare or bear the truth is, is that some animals eat plants and some animals eat other animals. In order to run, jump, duck, fly, move, or just plain exist energy is needed for human and animal alike. Energy comes from the food that is eaten. So there does not exist a perfect world of friendship because the need to survive will always overtake the need for companionship. Always.

For example, say a dog befriends an arctic hare and this dog is content and well fed by a human owner. This sounds like a fine, healthy relationship. Let's then take the human owner away. Without the dog's dish being constantly filled it must look elsewhere for its food supply or it will loose its energy and in turn, will indefinitely starve to death. The dog then, without care or concern, will eat its rabbit counterpart. It may sound cruel, but this is the way of the food chain. In the food chain each animal represents a link in the chain. These are animals that are either prey, predator, or those that play a dual role. The predator is at the top of the food chain in that nothing eats them, the dual animals are those can eat others, but can also be eaten themselves, and finally those that are at the bottom of the food chain. The ones that are generally eaten and they will only eat plants, fruits, insects, or some type of mollusk.

There are lot of different animals that we offer; though please keep in mind that this does not represent the full scope of the ecosystem Souna is set in. At one point in time the shop attempted to offer all animals in this environment, even fish and strange birds! However, roleplaying these animals proved to be too difficult and there were so many templates the colorists had a hard time dealing with them all. Thus, you may interact with someone who has a past animal once offered, or you may have your dog casually meet these types of animal in their travels. You are more then welcome to, for instance, have your dog run into a gang of bloodthirsty wolves even if these are no longer available through the shop.

User ImageI n R o l e p l a y

The animals listed here are adoptable and rp-able, but please remember that they should be treated as 'standalones'. Once again, let me take a moment to reiterate that these are not familiars. The connotation for a familiar, is an animal that has a high affinity for another animal and thus the two can form a bond, or friendship of sorts. That...just doesn't work here.

This is a realistic dog shop, and thus the other animals found here should all be realistic as well. That means they should roleplayed as an animal might act and react in the moment in a real life setting. If an animal is prey, then it is prey and might be timid, and fearful when facing an animal with fangs and claws. A large animal, such a bear might attack any creature that comes too close to its den. By allowing you to roleplay such an array of animals we are offering you the ability to bring a different set of dynamics into the dog roleplay. Animals do not have to ever interact with a mush! dog either. They can go their whole lives within a little sect of their own kind, or perhaps they might meet different wildlife along their journey. Very rarely do animals begin to form bonds with another. However, if a roleplayer has the maturity and understanding to handle this then it is certainly encouraged.

For instance, an arctic hare might barter with a dog; information in exchange for its life, or maybe a vole could offer favors in exchange for scraps from a dog dish. Perhaps a beaver might need assistance with its dam building and offer a newly caught fish. These "happy" relationships are few and far in between and it should be noted that there does not exist saints. Meaning, animals will do whatever it takes to save their own skin, even be two faced. Communication is viable between all animals, however it is to be used in a limited sense. Eyes, ear rotations, nose quivering and body language is all important key factors in the art of silent communication. Roleplay that is done with wildlife should include plenty of silent communication if you want it to be effective.

As you roleplay, you may meet someone who has a dog breed that is not native to such a cold and harsh environment. Like with the wildlife, at one point the shop aimed to provide numerous dog breeds in an effort to make things more realistic. Everything from corgis to Yorkshire terriers! Big dogs, little dogs, furry dogs, you name it - we tried to have it! However, due to the amount of effort it took to edit the templates, and deal with the overwhelming number we have, we no longer offer different breeds of dogs. You may roleplay one of these breeds if you were lucky enough to obtain one (and you may edit your mush dog to indicate s/he has genetic characteristics of a certain breed), but we only offer one small type of breed now.

It is based off of a Pomeranian and is only available to newbies! If you are new to the shop (meaning you have no dog or familiar) you may PM the mule with I am a newbie! in the header, and a random small breed will be colored up for you. You will receive a cert and you may roleplay along with everyone else. This dog cannot breed, or be assimilated into special lineart. It is essentially a way for new comers to roleplay even if they don't have their first pet!

User ImageUser Image Dog Food:: while some mushers, especially those of Inuit descent, bring along frozen fish, some store bags of dog food on the trail.

User ImageUser Image Herbs:: If no medic is available to a team, then the dogs would be wise to know which types of wild herbs can help and relieve any pain caused by an injury.

User ImageUser Image Herbs:: Some times you will find surprises out on the trail, like a rare flower left over by some hapless wanderer. Where did it come from, and more importantly - what story does it tell?

PACKS

User ImageUser Image T-Bone:: A big juicy fresh cut straight from the butcher's! Who knows what dangerous lengths a dog went through to get this! (will add 10 points to a fight)

User ImageUser Image Big Bone::Fun to chew on, helps sharpen a dog's teeth, and can sometimes have bits of flesh leftover for a tasty treat. (Allows for another roll in a food run)

User ImageUser Image Cone of Shame:: You do not like the cone of shame. Not at all! If only there was some way to pay back the dogs who did this to you, perhaps you can! Or perhaps you can gain their trust so you never have to wear this again!

User ImageUser Image Doggie Biscuit:: This dog treat isn't yours....but it is now! Wonder what chump you stole this one from? Let's hope he's still around!

User ImageUser Image Fish Bone:: digging around in the trash all day, and this is your best find?! Better luck next time. If you are lucky maybe you can swipe it for a better deal, if you can find someone that foolish.

User ImageUser Image Ripped Cloth:: The streets are tough. You use this shredded clothing to make your bed for the night, but who knows what this used to be before it met your paws!

MISC

User ImageUser Image Gold Medal:: An elite prize awarded by a race or even a dog show! Sometimes even by the hunting lodge or K9 unit for bravery! The medal can be taken off and clipped to the collar or can be worn as is. Bragging rights guaranteed. (May allow double rolls for the uncommon quest of choice)

User ImageUser Image Shampoo:: Bugs biting your butt? Poor Doggy! It's time for a bath. Sometimes an owner will use this on a beloved pet who itches or for a dog competing in a show. (may 5 add points to dog show quests)

User ImageUser Image Muzzle:: Not just used to stifle an over aggressive dog, but also to show dominance and can make a dog more trainable. Dogs that are adept in obedience will do well in the elite K9 core. (Take away .5 seconds from an agility challenge)

User ImageUser Image Bear Trap:: Fur trappers and hunters alike will sometimes use this for larger game that is very difficult to catch. (may add 20 prey points to a hunting quest)

User ImageUser Image Yellow Collar:: A dog might find a collar from a beloved owner or a newly-found musher!

User ImageUser Image Blue Collar:: Some collars can be found while searching the streets of Souna, even the trashcans!

User ImageUser Image Red Collar:: And some collars pop up even when you're least expecting it!

User ImageUser Image Mush Plush:: this adorable little plush is usually given to a pet by an owner, but sometimes a dog might find it and bestow it to another!

User ImageUser Image Narwhal Squeak Toy:: What a fun toy for your dog to play with! Based off the creatures found in the arctic oceans this little narwhal will keep your mush! entertained for hours.

User ImageUser Image Wolf Totem:: This mysterious totem comes from a northern land. Allows one pup to be added to a winning breeding, no matter what the mortality roll was.

User ImageUser Image Dreamcatcher:: This northern item will grant it's wearer calming thoughts. This is especially helpful with troubled dogs.

User ImageUser Image Arrowhead:: When dropped on the ground, the tip of the arrow will point towards prey.

User ImageUser Image Ice Crystals:: These ice crystals are said to be tied in the with the legend of the snow queen. Those who possess it are said to be fierce leaders. (minus one roleplay needed for any requirement, excluding breedings).

So your Mush! is mature and ready to be a mama or papa? Here's all the information you need to know! Mush! dogs, like domestic dogs, can breed any time of the year, even in the cold environment they live in. Once the mother conceives them, the puppies will be colored by the designated colorist and posted in the thread a few days later (the colors, genders, and amounts will be a surprise!), but the rper may delay the birth IC if they desire. Usually the puppies will look like mother, father, or a mix of both, but sometimes recessive genes rear their heads and pop up. Your dogs ranks will determine a mortality rating for the pups.

For those who have always wanted a self-designed Mush! dog, a custom is perfect for you! The only requirement is that it is natural or semi-natural in coloring. Semi-natural means that your dog has unnatural patterns (like tiger stripes or leopard spots) OR it has one to three unnatural accents (like a green tail tip). See chart above! Your Mush! can be of any age or gender, but must be of a common rank. Under no circumstances will I color a team/rare/uncommon dog for you, as those are privileges for owners who role-play their dogs.

If you have trouble voicing your idea then Scoptic has created a base for you to work with! These are not actual mush dogs, nor may you use them for anything other then your quest or design concept! There is a PNG version, MS paint version, and a PDS version with a few premade designs.

    Pup: 400k
    Teen: 350k
    Adult: 300k

    Wildlife: 50k

If you are looking to put items on a preexisting dog you must PM the mule with an offer! I will then in turn get in touch with the appropriate colorist and see what can be done!

Appropriate Items
    - Collars with any tag
    - Feathers/Flowers/Bows behind ear, or clipped in some fashion
    - Beads clipped in some fashion
    - Chains/Necklace with decorations
    - Straps/Bracelets/Leather like Cuffs
    - Bandannas
    - Cloth tied to tail or Legs
    - Earrings/Tail Clips

    - Any body edit that will still allow a dog to be a dog

    * Unsure if something else is allowed? Just ask!

••• What's the shop for...?
This shop is for the sale of Mush! dogs. To learn more make sure you read all info!

••• Liek OMG can I have 1???!!!!!11!1!1!!!!!twelvestfu!
We will not simply give you a pet! All pets must be won in some type of fashion - be it flatsale, raffle, auction, or some type of game. Please do not fret however, as 90% we give out are free! And if you read ALL of the information on the front page, your gift of owning a mush pet will be closer then you think!

••• Okay so... now that I have one are these things RP-mandatory?
I'm glad you asked. No, they are not rp-mandatory. However, if you do not rp your dog, it will grow at a very slow rate and once it reaches its adult stage it cannot advance into any specialized rank.

••• Can I be a colorist or work for the shop ?
At this time we are not accepting any applications for any position. Please do not directly contact us about this for any reason whatsoever. It is also against the rules to 'pester' staff about shop happenings that haven't already been announced.

••• Can I have my dog grow into an alternate stage rank?
Yes, all teens can grow into the common rank of your choosing (street/stray/house/hunting). You simply must post a note in the growth thread in the guild asking for the specific lines (roleplay not required). If you do not this your pet will grow into the default adult rank and you'd need a rank change fee to get it into new art.

However, for uncommon ranks, team members and medics there are strict quests and roleplay requirements. Please read information regarding the desired stage.

••• Can my dog have supernatural powers?
No. Dogs, and other creatures, are natural, normal animals and act accordingly.

••• Does my dog have to be naturally colored?
Yes, but we accept semi-natural as well. Natural is defined as any coat that would be found on a dog in nature. Semi-unnatural is a natural coat with strangely colored accents, like a light blue tail tip for instance, or markings that are not usually found on a dog, like cheetah spots, that can be put on a natural coat. Basically, you can either have natural colors with unnatural markings or unnatural accents on natural markings. You may have one or the other, but not both.

••• Can my dogs be dyed with different colors?
If you want to ICly (in characterly) have an owner dye their dog, or 'paint' spill on your dog for whatever reason, then that is fine. It wouldn't be realistic for it to 'keep' into the fur however, but I'm not going to hinder creativity and disallow it all together. This is no excuse, mind you, to create a loophole for unnaturally colored dogs. It may only be used as an excuse for unnatural accents if desired.

••• Are cosplays allowed?
Yes. They are. However, in a limited sense. I will not put hair on a dog, nor will I give it clothes (see question regarding edits). "Clothes" like patterns are also not allowed. So if you have a character in mind (even a human character) then you need to find someway to change the design to fit a canine. Only one pet per character is allowed, and we have a cosplay listing to ensure this. Wildlife cosplays are also possible and counted for, we have a listing for this as well. 'Quests' of cosplays are also not counted so you cannot 'claim' a character until you obtain it officially. You may only custom a cosplay. Under no circumstances may you obtain a non custom dog (raffle, game, ss, basket, etc) and say it is x, y, or z character. You may however, have a cosplay through breedings if it fits the cannon. For instance, if you have Lily and James Potter, then you may create Harry through breedings, but you cannot create a 'Ron' and have it be a counted cosplay.

••• Can my dog have edits?
Yes. Again, if they're edits that might be found in nature! For a list of appropriate edits please see the 'special obtainment' post.

••• Can dogs have the same names as each other?
Yes, of course! It is both realistic to have two pets with the same name, and nearly impossible for us to enforce otherwise. Please do not abuse this privilege though, because we want you to be as unique as possible. Use ctrl+F in the parent list and type in your chosen name. If no match is found, congrats! That name is available!

••• Can mush dogs be half wolf?
Yes. That is entirely up to you, however only the "hybrid" stage grants you the ability to have a more wolf like appearance and personality. In order to achieve these lines one must roleplay with Luna (NPC) and have two additional rps.

••• I have a dog from the old shop. May I transfer it here?
Yes! Please look at the thread here. This will give you all the information you need to transfer.

••• May I give my Mush! pet away?
In regards to proxies, you may proxy for almost all events, excluding anything roleplay related. In regards to giving away a Mush! pet you already own, this is allowed, but you must pay the recert fee. You must discuss by PM to your intended giftee. You may not do so in the thread, or anywhere in the guild. Rehoming events or contests are on a case by case basis and must be shop approved.
