...You blink slowly as your eyes adjust to the light, and a petite young woman in a silly-looking sweater approaches you with a sweet smile, brushing her hair beneath her hood. She continues to smile and speaks with a soft French accent:

"Bonjour! 'Allo! Glad you made it here ok! Please, hurry in and we shall shut the door. Feel free to get comfortable in the registration area for a few moments, someone will be right with you! If you have any questions, we are more than happy tell you all about the Antirrhinum! Just please have a quick look here to figure out what floor you are supposed to head to, thanks!"

You turn your attention to a large digital board on the wall, which displays what services are offered at different floors and sectors:

A petite young woman in a silly-looking sweater sits inside a little information booth with a digital sign above it. There are pamphlets on the counter, and she has a stack of little books beside her as well. There is a big television screen behind her displaying some recent news from Earth.

....Her again? You literally scratch your head in confusion.

She smiles kindly at you, "Welcome to the Facility Conduct Info Booth, here you can find our most important rules and regulations. Please make sure that you have visited this booth if you are a new visitor. You must receive a pass from this booth if you wish to visit any other floors. Thank you!"

1. Please follow all Gaia TOC, and all already existing breedables standards.
2. DO NOT STEAL ANY OF THE ART IN THIS SHOP! Sarei worked very, VERY hard on all of her art, and is more than happy to help people enjoy and appreciate. Stealing, if caught, will be met with ZERO tolerance, and will be sought punishment for. Enjoy the pets. Let everyone else enjoy them!
3. Do not troll the thread. It's annoying, and you're only causing grief for yourself and others.
4. Please do not beg for pets from staff. If you would like a pet from the shop, you are more than welcome to hang around and chat. Those who are active in the thread and display a desire to own/roleplay a pet are likely to be rewarded.
5. Please do not ask people for their pets or for offspring from breedings. This is rude, and annoying, and if you want a pet, we like to see you showing the initiative to obtain one, not whining/pestering people because you do not have one.
6. Be polite/nice to everyone! Anyone who wants to post in the shop is welcome here, unless otherwise specified by Sarei (or other staff if we get some). It's not nice to ignore people!
7. If someone has a question or is looking for information, and you know where they can find it, or the answer to this question, please do not hesitate to help. Wed like to be friendly and helpful as much as possible around here!
8. Newbies deserve the same respect as anyone else. Do not mistreat/ignore someone because they are new to the shop. This will not be tolerated, and will have consequences if not ceased after a warning.
9. If you are participating in an event, follow all specified event rules. Simple 'nuff. Those who do not follow instructions/rules will be penalized.
10. If you are participating in an event, do NOT edit/delete posts. This is unfair to everyone else participating, and will be penalized (likely with being disqualified from the event, but depending on circumstances, may be more severe)
11. Do not discourage other people who desire to purchase/obtain a pet. Just...don't.
12. While the pets are not roleplay REQUIRED, roleplay is highly encouraged, and may be rewarded with special things in the future! (extra baskets from breedings, special items for your pets, etc.)

[ The Habitat ]

The Habitat is still awaiting a photographer to visit us so that we can display pictures and/or video of it on every floor and map in the future.



THE ANTIRRHINUM;

Stage 1 (Egg)// All Antirrhinum are created inside of synthesized eggs now. Created from a repeat of the original incidental experiment, all parts are placed together within the egg in order to provide them the ideal environment for growth and development. Eggs take 1 week or less to hatch once they have been taken on by a researcher.

Stage 2 (Baby)// Once your Antirrhinum has hatched, it's a baby now, and it's ready to be taken care of. However, Antirrhinum babies are created in the TOP SECRET Research Laboratory, so they really don't HAVE parents. Just DNA contributors. They have no maternal/paternal instincts and would never raise a baby. We can explain that all to you if you visit the Breeding and Health Services floor. Anyways, a baby Antirrhinum needs to be taken care of very well and monitored closely by it's Researcher (you) to make sure that it grows to be a healthy adult. Babies are kept and monitored in what is called the Proto-dome, which is a smaller Biodome made specifically for them and the researchers in order to provide a safe, yet natural environment. The Proto-Dome has smaller sections to it so that Researchers can spend individual time with their baby Antirrhinum, and play areas for them to learn about socializing.

Stage 3 (Adult)// Now that you have nurtured your young Antirrhinum, it has been growing bigger and stronger, and well now it's an adult, ready to make it in the world. Alright, well so they don't go out into the world at all, since it's kilometres upon kilometres away, on the planet Earth, where we certainly are not. Once they reach adulthood, they are ready to be released into the main Biodome. Don't worry, they'll come back when you visit them, if you took good care of them as babies.

You get off the elevator and all that is in front of you is a door at the end of a very short hallway. This place is weird...you go to the door and open it to reveal a huge round-room library. There are display screens on the walls, showing photos and videos and news, there are shelves and shelves packed full of books and electronic readers around the outside of the room. In the center, there is a large seating area, decorated with tables, desks, sofas, cushions, plants and flowers. You gaze around in astonishment, until you hear a noise from your left...

"Please close the door behind you, or the pressure will get all wonky in here." A petite young woman in a silly sweater with a soft French accent (...huh, go figure...) looks up at you from a desk situated against the wall to the left. She pushes down her glasses and peers down her nose at you from out of her book. You're startled for a moment, not only because you didn't see her there, but...isn't that the girl that you just saw downstairs? How did she get up here so fast? Was she wearing glasses a minute ago? You shake your head, and close the door as requested.

Weird.

"S-sorry about that, it's just...wow." You stutter a little, not sure what to say. You weren't really expecting this kind of library on a research station...then again you hadn't been expecting much of this trip...

"You must be new, I haven't seen you before." The young woman says, smiling kindly and pushing her glasses back up her nose. "Let us get some tea and I will tell you about Antirrhinum Project Research Station..." She says, getting up from the desk and coming around, beckoning you to follow her.

You oblige, keeping a couple feet between you and her, observing as you go along.

"Just have a seat wherever you like..." She stops and gestures at the sitting area, her smile consistent with previous ones. "I'll get the tea and then we can begin." She trails off and you stare at the vacant sitting area.

You thought there would be more people here...again with the expectations. You see a cushion that looks rather comfortable, and there's a table and another cushion right next to it, so you decide to go and sit there. You examine the wood grain of the table. The girl startles you by placing a cup and saucer on the table before you. You just can't help but jump a little and a small noise of shock escapes.

"Sorry! I am very light on my feet." She giggles briefly. "So...we usually like to take the time to educate new researchers on the centre before we allow you to consider joining a team. Please bear with me, and I will tell you all about our work here so far...." She glances around the room, and then turns back to you with excitement bubbling over in her eyes.

"The Antirrhinum Project Research Station was founded in early autumn of the year 2012. It began with a small group of four researchers who had been using experimental theories and technology to genetically manipulate and attempt to clone common household flora and fauna. Their laboratory began as what we now call the Research Information Library. Yes...this very floor we are on now." She pauses for a moment and does that thing where she adjusts her glasses and looks at you funny again...that goofy smile...and her getup?

Regardless, you should probably pay attention...

"Well, they had been working with some a couple different plant species at the time, snapdragons, wolfsbane, and white faun lilies- to be specific," Another pause for effect?

"--and were also doing work with a house cat named Saul that belonged to one of them. Most of the materials used for the experiments were organic material compounds that had been synthesized in the lab with painstaking care and attention after years of rigorous research and testing. No harm or ill effects were caused by any product created by the APRS Team." She shifted her weight on the cushion and took a sip of tea.

Oh yeah, the tea. You decide to wait maybe until she puts hers down so that you don't look so obvious...

"JUST for the record." She does a little giggle and pushes her hair out of her face, crossing her legs and placing her cup on the table.

"I have to tell you that!" The girl whispers, then looks around for a quick second. "Anyways, everything had been going smoothly and it was all on schedule. The results were coming in exactly as expected, and the team was getting ready to publish their conclusions in a highly acclaimed journal. The publishers had already taken the bait! One of the researchers was working late in the lab one night, and had left a freshly brewed cup of coffee sitting next to an open plant experiment that she was making some changes to. Experiment ID was SD-42001-3 that's an important one that you'll hear a lot and come to memorize." She stops again and looks at you blankly for a second as if she expects a response.

You were halfway through taking a sip of tea and now you just feel awkward...You sip your tea and set your cup down. "Ok, sure. I'll remember that. SD dash..." You trail off and smile guiltily at her.



"Don't worry, as I said previously," She does a little cough and pushes up her glasses. The hood of her sweater falls down and you see bright blue wavy hair that falls long around her face. She rolls her eyes and doesn't move to replace the hood, "Silly thing, ANYWAYS, as I was saying, there was someone working on an experiment...and Saul was in the room of course, because he was kept in an enclosure off the side, and more important he always kept his owner company...it's blocked up now, the enclosure." The girl sips her tea. "So the researcher was looking into the microscope, and Saul...well, he spilled the coffee by accident as he leapt up onto the table, and you see, he got startled and slipped, and as he tried not to fall off the table, he knocked over the open experiment box...all three, the coffee, the cat, and the snapdragons crashed to the ground together...the snapdragons!" She stops again and then just looks at you, same smile, same bright, expecting eyes.

You have nothing to say...you sip your own tea and blink at her vacantly. Okay, maybe you have an idea of what happened. It sounds all too strange to be true, maybe it's all a joke. Then again...Where even AM I...? you wonder.

"Alright, I will tell you then!" The librarian laughs a little and sets her cup down, "The experiment had some sort of reaction with the coffee, and mixed with Saul's DNA from his fur...Saul gave a howl and ran off, leaving the distraught researcher to deal with the clean up. As she replaced the experiment box on the table and put some paper down on the spilt coffee, the plant began to shrivel and turn black. Then it began to make little noises, like a kitten mewling, and the plant began to grow again, though it stayed black, and as it grew, it morphed into a small creature. The researcher was frozen in awe the whole time, not sure whether to be worried, or excited, and before her eyes evolved the cat-dragon that we have come to call Antirrhinum. The latin name for snapdragons..." The girl trailed off again and finished her drink. She gazed about the library.

"Huh..." is all you manage for some reason. You ponder everything she's just said. So this research centre was for some creatures that were created by accident? That's not what you thought you had signed up for....you finish your own tea and look around as well. The plants seem like they're all leaning in to listen to the story, too, now that you think of it. Well...

"So now what we do here, is we re-create the experiment, to create new Antirrhinum. Except we do it a lot different now, of course. All the steps are re-traced of the original experiments, but now they just use DNA from Saul 2. That's the first one...you see, the ACTUAL cat didn't make it, unfortunately, but they had saved his DNA and since they had created this new creature, they decided to stop experimenting on house cats...anyhow, they create the creatures inside a controlled environment that is a synthesized egg, and all of the different experiments are placed into the egg, and then into a greenhouse until they are primed, and then that's when the Antirrhinum start to grow. They take a couple weeks to come out from the eggs, but they're worth the wait, trust me! You'll see them soon, I think." The young woman smiles again. That same smile.

"There's more though, first...So once they started creating them successfully and had recorded all the variables to perfection, they were starting to get a little attention. You see, it turns out that two of the researchers were going behind their colleagues backs and trying to publish information on the experiments under only their names...and they were leaking information that was bringing way too much attention to the centre. Well then the two that were in the dark the whole time found out, and though they argued viciously, the two who had gone bad came to an agreement, and decided to leave peacefully, saying goodbye to the research. There's been speculations that they were paid pretty handsomely and...well, they inherited a lot of things. Since we're here now, we don't need those things anymore." She cleared her throat and adjusted her glasses.

"Well anyways, then the two researchers that were now left over decided that they wanted to expand the centre, and since they had so much attention attracted to them, they wanted to move the research station somewhere more remote, and that's when they came up with the idea to expand it, and then put it into space, fully staffed and operable with minimal Earth contact. So that's what they did. They consulted engineers and astronauts, space and sci-fi experts, even! They built the Bio-dome, the habitat that the Antirrhinum live in, and expanded the station to include all the different floors and quarters that we now have. YOU, are one of the first people to come here. You volunteered. Well, you didn't volunteer for this, I suppose, but if you think you can help us, we'd love to have you. We've only been deployed for 20 years now, but the research is going well, and is consistent, so we're now accepting new researchers from all different places around the world to come and live with us here and help with the experiments...and taking care of the Antirrhinum. There's plenty of them around now. The habitat is quite large, we've had two expansions on it since we came here. Travel here is very expensive, obviously, we ARE in orbit around Earth, as many of their satellites are. But they have forgotten us, we have hidden the station and they have deemed us lost in space..." The girl trailed off again, and then pulled her hood back up and stood from the cushion.

You feel obliged to stand, as well. She looks at you and then does a little giggle again and scrunches up her face like a little mouse. Such a strange young woman.

"You'll learn more while you're here- if you stay, but that's the basics for you." The girl laughed, gesturing back toward the door, and the elevator. "So I will show you out and you should head on down a floor to view the habitat and meet some of the Antirrhinum." Another one of those smiles she did. Hmmmm... you're thinking to yourself.

"Sure, thank you. I guess I'll see you again?" You say, lifting a brow at her quizzically.

"Of course you will, you'll need to come in here for books and such." She says with a wink. "Right then, off you go!" She says, gesturing again and you head toward the door. As you get into the elevator, you can hear her giggling, and then the door shuts.

That just happened.

How strange...

The floor down, floor down You stare at the buttons for a moment blankly...fourth?... You push the button for the fourth floor.

[ Getting Certified ]


So you wanna become a researcher, right? Well, in order to be able to care for an experiment, you need to have your researcher certification training FIRST. But then after that, we will also assign a certificate to any experiment that you own, providing it meets all of the standards and conditions laid out in the Researcher Training Manual.

So here's what the certificates look like, once your Antirrhinum passes it's testing!


So that's what the certificate looks like on it's own. Well, it'll have the number your experiment is, which goes in the order that the experiments are created and certified. It'll have your nickname for the experiment, should you choose one, and then it will have your name as well.

Oh, and we also do a free portrait of your pet with their certificate! In case you wanna show it to your friends or family or something...you never know!
