[[ Kitsusagi ]]

History Of Kitsusagi

Kitsusagi were not always known to humans. Nor was their home world, Pythie. They were once less than myths. Less, even, than the whispers of rumor. Exactly how the two worlds came to meet eachother is unknown, lost in muddled and conflicting versions of the same story. It is known, though, that a portal between our world and theirs came into existance one day. And the results were devastating.

The kitsusagi and the humans did not get along at all. Humans attempted to domesticate them as working animals, considering them little better than common dogs. Naturally, the kitsusagi fought back against this slavery being forced upon them, declaring the humans their enemies.

The war went on for many years until a shaky treaty could be formed with the help of the guardians. However, some kitsusagi disagreed with the terms of the treaty, and a small group of them left in search of a rumored source of power. They never returned, and so the treaty was upheld. And, now, the kitsusagi are among our most loyal companions.

Kitsusagi are elegant, graceful creatures. They behave much like an average canine would, though they're much more intelligent than one and their personality varies from one kitsu to another just as it would among humans. They can only communicate with humans through body language and various clicking and barking noises. However, guardians are able to act as translators between humans and kitsusagi.

When kitsusagi breed successfully anywhere from two to four eggs can result. These eggs must then incubate for 5 to 10 days before they hatch. The hatchling kitsu develop a strong attatchment to the first person or thing they see once they break free of the shell, becoming quite loyal to whatever it is they've seen. These young kitsu need a diet high in protein - milk and eggs (No, not kitsu eggs!) are an excellent source and easy on the infant kitsu's digestive system. Once they get older, they become omniverous and will eat just about anything - provided it doesn't eat them first.

Kitsusagi may age rapidly or slowly, depending on what their environment is like. If they are well loved and cared for, they will grow to be strong, healthy kitsu. However, if they are neglected and left on their own for extended periods of time, they will become frail and malnourished... There is a chance to reverse such an instance of neglect, but it takes quite a bit of love and care to nurse a frail kitsu into a healthy one.

Kitsusagi are all unique - again, much like humans are. They may look similar to eachother, but the differences between them are always easy to spot. In the case of twins, they will have identical markings - but they will be a mirror image of eachother. For example, one kit may have a spot over his right eye, and the other would have an identical spot over his left eye.

Shop Rules
1. The Kitsusagi HQ is a neutral zone. Senseless violence between kitsu will not be tolerated. That means no killing, no maiming.. etc. Angel is the guardian of the HQ, and she does have special powers to 'deal' with troublemakers. Punishment can range up to exile [which means no breeding. ever] or even death.
(Key word: senseless. If both kitsu owners agree to the violence/bloodshed, then I don't care. It's allowed. Random attacks on other kitsu? Not allowed. )
2. Do not PM us about prices/availability!
Please, wait until the next flatsale or event, or even post in question. Usually it will be posted in News or event in the topic.

Kitsu can breed without being mated, but once they do make that commitment, it can't be broken without a very good reason.. Not without one of them dying heartbreak D: ] (Mated does not = breeding couple. Mated is more or less life-mates, those kitsu who are very much in love and promise to stick together. Your kitsu can be part of a couple and break up later, if the RP works for it. But if your kitsu is life mated, then only infedelity or death of mate can break it up. )
11. If you deemed yourself worthy of being banned; you may, under no circumstances, get a refund.
If you have any ungrown Kitsu, you MAY be entitled to a PARTIAL refund. This may be discussed with whomever you paid to do the work.

Breeding Rules
The Breeding Center is here, along with the more detailed and expanded rules for all species.
1. Any kitsusagi must have been an adult for at least 1 month prior to being bred. This applies to newly obtained customs as well as newly grown adults.
2. A breeding pair cannot breed again until their children have grown to adult.
3. How many entries that are allowed by any one owner into a breeding raffle will vary by the artist. In general, the cap is two entries per owner.
4. Any owner may only win once per individual raffle. If multiple entries win, the owner with the multiple wins must choose only 1 breeding pair.
5. Any owner can win in multiple raffles so long as those raffles are being run by different staff; so three separate raffles are run means an owner can win up to 3 times - 1 for each raffle.
6. How an owner obtains a breeding slot varies by how the individual artists run their breeding events, please refer to these to see how you obtain the actual slot.
7. Any one kitsusagi can only breed twice in their life; to breed more then twice a kitsusagi needs to make use of the Passion Fruit, a special item that enables them to breed again. However, Passion Fruit are only awarded to long-term and dedicated couples and are therefore rare.
8. Unless otherwise stated, all Event Kitsusagi fall under the Cosplay Category.
9. Cosplay breedings only result in normal or angelic lines in the offspring, regardless of what the parents' lines were. Edits still pass on as per cosplay rules.

Same Sex Breeding
1. Same sex breeding is allowed.
2. A surrogate for male x male breedings must be chosen. For female x female breedings, there is no need for a surrogate.
3. Females can only surrogate once and their genetics do not factor into the breeding.
4. At least one 15-post long, prose-style roleplay must be shown as evidence evidence that the two breeding are involved. Chat logs and casual RP will not count towards the requirement.
5. There are no same sex categories separate from the regular breeding categories - all same sex breedings are treated the same as any heterosexual breeding.
6. All same sex breedings produce a minimum of 3 eggs. The maximum for the species does not change.

Customs Rules
1. Cosplays can be obtained on any lines; Normal, subspecies, angelic, and nightmares do not require shop owner permission [aka SkieBorne]. Seraphim, Fae, Tainted and Celestial cosplays require shop owner permission before being customed.
2. As a rule, cosplays are normal kitsusagi that dress up. Therefore major species traits are removed from a pose when a cosplay is made (with the sole exception of the subspecies). The list of features is as follows:

• Normal/Subspecies - none
  
• Angelic - Halo
  
• Nightmare - sewn shut eyes & horns
  
• Fae - ear wings & back twig
  
• Seraphim - 6 wings & halo
  
• Celestials - wings, forehead jewel & ear baubles

3. Cosplays that retain species characteristics can be obtained for a higher price. Please refer to the customs price list for the pricing.
4. Payment goes to the artist.
5. Specific rules pertaining to obtaining customs varies from opportunity to opportunity so please refer to an artist's custom event for said specifics.
6. Anything on the Shop Reserve cannot be claimed by a customer.

Bribe Rules
1. Any customer can obtain a bribe only once every 3 months.
2. There is a maximum of 3 cosplays in a bribe offer and an overall maximum of 8 individual kitsuagi in an offer.
3. Bribe offers must be PM'd to the Kitsusagi Staff mule (or the artist if they've specified such.)
4. Every artist has the right to decline an offer.
5. Bribes have no price ladder and the offer is up to the customer. However, the minimum offer must match the basic custom prices.
6. Once a custom bribe has been obtained, the briber cannot participate in any custom events for 1 month after the bribe.

Breeding Bribe Rules
1. Any customer can obtain a breeding bribe only once every 3 months.
2. All owners of the breeding pairs are subject to rule 1.
3. There is a limit of 5 breeding pairs in a single bribe offer and the bribe value itself must reflect the size of the request.
4. Should a breeding bribe be obtained, the bribers cannot enter into breeding raffles for 2 months after the bribe.
5. There is a guide to and breakdown of the various packages available with a breeding bribe here. Please take this into account when formulating a breeding bribe.
6. PM breeding bribes to the Kitsusagi Staff mule (or the artist if they have specified such.)
7. Every artist has the right to decline an offer.

1. Well.. then are you hiring for staff members, then?
Unless the front page or the news post have any threads or announcements saying we are, regretfully - no, unless we do come ask or grovel to you, we're full up, thanks :>.

2. Well I tried, okay then, how long will it take them to grow?
Hatching will take anywhere from 5-10 days, to grow from kit to adolescent it will take usually two to three weeks, from adolescent to adult will depend on how active you are in the thread and how well you treat your kitsusagi (about a month). If you mistreat it/leave it alone it can take a month or more to fully grow to adult and usually it will be much weaker then if you take care of it and play with it often enough to make sure it's being raise properly.. If it's taken care of it will usually grow up in 2 to 3 weeks.

3. How do I go about naming my kitsu?
If your kitsu is a gen1 [aka, not from a breeding couple], please PM the name to the artist that coloured the kitsu for you - the artists are responsible for certing their creations and breedings.
If, however, your kitsu is from a breeding, then you'll need to find your way to our guild Breeding Center. In the breeding center there should be a thread for your kitsu's family (titled after the parents), and you can leave your name there.

4. Can two kitsus of the same gender have a Relationship?
Homosexual relationships are accepted in the realm's area, they will and can be considered in a relationship, and are allowed to breed with some restrictions [ie, they' must have strong rp behind it - no 'crack' breedings]. Please see the breeding center in the guild for more information.

5. How long does it take to get them to adulthood?
If you haven't read question two, I advise that you do so now - but do keep in mind once again that being active and friendly can sometimes effect the aging process of your kitsusagi whelp. Most whelps grow with their siblings if born in a clutch.

6. How big will all the pictures be?
Because the Realm has a short assortment of tags, most tags will comply to the 500 x 500 image limit that has been set forth by the gaian administrators. The average mean of the certs are withing 450~480 pixels on the height and width, so they shouldn't be -too- bad.

7. Can you recommend a website where I could keep the kitsusagi tag..?
Photobucket is an excellent site for keeping your gaian pets, as well as your future kitsusagi, so that you may show them off.

8. Can I direct-link?
Althought it's -usually- best to save the images for yourself, (incase of lets say, server death), Mau had allowed the ability to direct connect any Realm Kitsusagi from her server, as the bandwidth she acquired with it is very flexible.

9. So now that we've got that all aside, what can I expect to cough up for one of these lovelies?
Depending on when and where you see the kitsusagi up for sale, they could be any price, but we do have specific set prices for certain events:

• All flatsale kitsusagi are 4K an egg. This is only extended to normal or racial kitsusagis (Snow, Dragon and Mer)
  Please note that Angelic/Nightmare flatsales are few and VERY far between if ANY, and will run at a higher price. The chances of one are very very slim, and is much more easier to just way for a breeding or auction.
  
• Please see the Colourist's Workshops subforum in the guild for a complete price list.

10. So lets say I wish to get a small country of Kitsusagi - is that possible, or is there a limit to how many I can have..?
Although there is an abundancy of kitsusagi prancing around both the Realm, there is and will be a set number that can be extended with attendance, good spirits and maybe even some RP, if you do it right ;>.

• Normal Kitsusagi are more accessable, so at this time, it's an open bar for any normal kitsusagi. You could have thirty.. well.. Maybe. But that's excessive.
  
• Although the minor races are a bit more few and far between, at this time, there is also no limit to how many you own, just don't grab em all, soldier.
  
• Angelic and Nightmare Kitsusagi are a bit more rare, so please, we would like to keep 3~4 of each available to be kept by any single person. If you show your support and maybe even RP a little, you'll be rewarded with the ability of keeping more.
  
• Seraphim, Tainted, Fae and Gods are the rarest of this group, and will not be given away lightly, if at all. If you get even one, please consider yourself a blessed soul, and cherish it greatly.

11. Oh oh! I have a question that's not on this page!

Normal

Your everyday kitsusagi. Although they aren't as 'special' or rare as the other species that arrived to the realm - they are still cherished by many as the original species to the Realm and Mountain to find their way and create a pact with those of other species.

Kitsusagi are tall and brave creatures, that are in canine in nature with noticibly long ears and thick, work and travel ready paws and legs. With average lengthed fur, they can take temperatures even when they dip under the freezing level - but not so much. With showing, expressive faces, Kitsusagi are able to express themselves remarkably well, even though they cannot speak the tongues their owners do. Although they are strong as adults, during their whelphood, they are surprisingly suspetable to malnourishment or easily hurt from any form of neglect.. and grow to be..

If your kitsusagi does grow up sick, it doesn't take very much for you to heal them, but the time spent and the affection needed are great. Sickly kitsusagi are easily spotted by their less than glossy and matted fur, unhappy eyes and thin, wiry frames.

Subspecies

Forest Spirits
Heralding from the deepest parts of the land's forests, the Uni Kitsusagi are a relatively new addition to the growing family of Kitsusagi. Their single horn and almost equine like bodies are reminscent of the unicorns of lore. They are a varied group, in temperament and colourations and a person is lucky indeed if they happen to befriend one. Of all the subspecies, it is thought that the Uni Kitsu get along best with the dragons.

The Spiritual Dragons
A strange strain of kitsusagi who were recently founded and petitioned for peace with over in a distant and royal country. Although fairly new, a couple small strains of the Dragon kitsusagi were recently founded in our own little area - giving those who study the different kinds a rare and elusive chance to study and form an opinion on these odd creatures.

Considered one of the larger races that exist at this time, only to be outgrown by snow kitsusagi, these kitsusagi are not known for their girth and size, but more of their length - as they are remarkably long body wise - they're middles actually fold up a bit in an "n" like fashion. Elegant and wiry, these kitsusagi are more directed at the fashionable and noble houses of owners, as they are not one to enjoy the life of a humble servant.

Although they have recently appeared on this island, there still seems to be some eggs from the first batches that have yet to appear..

The Snowbound Souls
A race of Kitsusagis that have only recently began appearing in the area of the realm of kitsusagi, the first generation of these kitsusagi have been reported to have been shipped from the cold miniature colony of the Northern expansures, arriving in large boxes, with eggs sitting in snow.

Larger than any other kind of kitsusagi (Even the Nightmare and some dragons!), these kitsusagi are easily noted by their long, shaggy and warm fur, huge bulky appearances and remarkably friendly personalities. Due to their larger appearances and longer stamina - Snow kitsusagi are considered the best species for manual labour and events such as sled racing and carriage pulling (Or so the notice said.)

At this time, there are only a handful available, making them a very mysterious race still. The others that came in the first batch have yet to hatch...

Water Spirits
Living in the waters around the Southlands, due to it's warmth and tranquility, the MerKitsusagi emerged. There is a folklore surrounding the scales on their tail and the elegant fin on the end is both stylish and functional. People believe they are lucky because they are thought rare and mysterious, truth is, they really are lucky! Maybe you'll see one in your lifetime, maybe more, consider it a treat from them...

Angelic and Nightmare

The Winged Saviors
Angelic Kitsusagi are considered the saviors of the ages, floating on large, full plumed wings that are apparently unattached visibly from the main body. Usually spiritual and kind hearted, they are easily approached by other races, and will never hesitate to offer wise knowledge to their kin - although there are physical evidence of those who have personalities that clash with this written documentation on them.

Slightly larger than a normal kitsusagi, their fur is visibly longer and vibrant, and their faces show an oddly calming orray of moods. But of all the physically things that separate them from the others, it's the halo that dances over their heads - always blindly following it's owner, a true symbol if spirituality and hope. Each Angelic is able to carry a certain ability, (such as healing, or telekinesis) that can help or hinder at times of need.

The Mythical Nightmare Kitsusagi
Known in all writing as the cursed and demonic beings of lore, due to erroneous ways in their past, the nightmares have forever been cursed to horrors and unrest due to their predecessors actions. They are normally said to be more moody and brooding kind of kitsusagi, keeping to themselves and pushing away the other races due to their bloodbound hatred for those unlike them. Although, it should be noted that not all Nightmare Kitsusagi are uneasy by nature - as there are physical evidence of calm and even approachable individuals.

Easily recognized by their short and wild pelts, the skin on their maws and paws have receded over the ages to produce long and sharp weapon like appendages, their maws skinless and bone thick, a long snake like tongue entrapped within. Due to their curse, their eyes have been sown shut - closing them off from the seeing world for ever.

Due to their physical curse, Nightmare Kitsusagi can not see at all, and their senses of smell and hearing are detrimented. They rely highly on their senses of taste and feel. Each nightmare is able to carry a certain ability, (such as healing, or telekinesis) that can help or hinder at times of need.

Seraphs and Fa'e

Angels of the High Courts
The Seraphs are a rare and elusive breed, aloof, good, and well meaning. They are a sprightly species, often dancing on high and enjoying the musics of the winds. A higher race then the angelics, they are often looked up to by all the races of kitsusagi - save, of course, for the nightmares and the tainted. Their powers are a more potent form of what the angelics have, though they too can really only manage one ability. Don't underestimate them, however! Even one ability can have the strength to do much good.

Slightly smaller then an angelic, they are easy to identify from their six wings and the crystal or gem pendant they are almost never without. Like the angelics, the seraphim posses a halo as well. Sleek in shape, they may not be particularly strong but the seraphs are very much the kind of kitsusagi one might want to befriend. Count your lucky stars if you ever manage to call one friend!

Guardians of the Four Seasons
The Fa'e are an exceptionally reclusive breed. In tune with nature and all its many forms, they very rarely venture beyond their isolated retreats. Organized into the four courts, the Fa'e pay hommage to the four seasons with each court coming into strength with its associated season. Generally, the seasons will influence the colourations of the particular Fa'e but that is not a rule. They do not age and enjoy the bounty of eternal youth. Few ever seem to see the need to grow beyond the glow of young adulthood.

People first noticed them because of their small size and winged ears, thinking at first that these new kitsusagi were a mutation of the subspecies. It came to light, quite quickly however, that the Fa'e were a race unto their own and possessed of nature-based powers much like fairies. They also display twig-like wings that grow from their shoulders and despite the seeming inability to fly, they float along quite well.

Celestials

In the beginning, the Celestials were a single, resplendant species. Their planet prospered under the vigilantly pursued ideals of peace and harmony. Not a warlike species at all, they remained untainted and unknown for millennia. Then, a terrible disease struck and parted the species, creating rifts of distrust and deceit among their ranks. It wasn’t long before the utopia collapsed and the survivors saw what their home had become.

It was a barren, diseased land that was quickly being overrun by an unnamed terror that came in the wake of the epidemic. The cause of the disease become painfully obvious – this shadowy terror had decimated their people for its own gains.

Thus, in a gamble, the elders and adults of the Celestials used the last of their remaining strength to bundle and send forth their young ones. Flarei and Eclipsei alike were reverted into egg form and sent into the space to travel the cosmos and hopefully come to rest on a world that would both accept and nurture them.

And so, for years upon years, these eggs coursed through the skies… some successfully finding worlds and others lost to the dangers of space. Eventually, however, some found their way to the Realm of the Kitsusagi where they’ve been afforded an opportunity to live and prosper again.

Not a single egg knows of its origin, not a single Celestial remembers the elders that sacrificed themselves in order to give them a chance.

It is truly a fresh start for the Celestials.

CYO Mutant Angelic
These creatures do not reveal themselves very often but when they do, they come in swarms. Keep an eye out for these special kitsusagi! They're generally spotted at a Colour-Your-Own event.

Said to be a strange mutation on the normal kitusagi, they're rather fond of ribbons and the sails on their backs do not allow flight but do act as a good means for cooling down in the hot climates they prefer to live in.

Trick or Treat
These big kitsusagi appear only around halloween and only for short periods of time. They're called Tricks for the simple reason that people often have to jump through hoops and other such things to coax one into being a friend - though whether the person it is a friend or a pet can be up in the air.

-What is a guardian?-



Guardians are from a world all their own. No one's quite sure where it is as the guardians are very secretive about it - it's in their nature to be protective or secretive about people or things they care about. They first became known to humans and kitsusagi during the great war between the two races. It was with their help that a peaceful agreement was able to be reached.

They seemed to have a strong link to the kitsusagi, and it was later discovered that they could bond to individual kitsus provided that the egg they hatched from was left near a kitsusagi for a time. They are incredibly devoted to the kitsusagi they bond to, doing their very best to protect them from harm. They're also able to translate kitsusagi speech into human and vice versa, allowing for communication between the two species. The only drawback to having a guardian is that they may not be seperated from their bonded kitsusagi, or else the guardian will wither and die.

RP IN THIS THREAD OR THE GUILD ONLY!

The Kitsusagi HQ is a neutral zone. Senseless violence between kitsu will not be tolerated. That means no killing, no maiming.. etc. Angel is the guardian of the HQ, and she does have special powers to 'deal' with troublemakers. Punishment can range up to exile [which means no breeding. ever] or even death.

Some general rules
1. Kitsusagi do NOT speak english! Meaning, your kitsusagi can not communicate with you verbally. The most a kitsu can do to communicate with it's owner/caretaker is body movements and various clicking and barking like noises. They can however communicate well to eachother, also using various body movements, etc. They can also communicate with their guardians, whom can act like a translator to humans.
2. Please do not fight, unless you have good reason to do so or it's part of the RP. I don't want anyone getting hurt in some pointless argument!
3. Nightmare kitsu cannot see, hear, or smell ^^ The only sense they have is taste [some of them have adapted their tongues similar to a snake]

This world we live in is grand, so extraordinaire you'd never really believe my words... till you'd see it for yourself. Our world is full of magic, all that magic carried by the wind around... travelling from our forests, to our desserts, passing through our grasslands and across our rivers. There is so much land to see, and yet still, not all of us will see it... only the wind will, and as it passes, I'll lift my ear up and listen to all the stories it tells me about those far away places.


The Kingdom of Athas

"Athas" means "joy" in Old English

To the North a kingdom of white crowned jewels, of creatures of another sort and iron hills that sparkled of silver, stood still in the cradle of time. Long before the King had passed on and with no sons to be his heir, a woman stood in his place. With a kind hand she ruled the kingdom, her people happy and wearing a rosy bloom about them. Seldom did war come upon this realm and so the castle walls remained open, white marble gleaming brightly in the sun. Here dwarves and woodland elves made their homes, building high terraces in the trees about the kingdom. The race of man and halflings of other sorts living hand in hand with friendship shared among the kindred souls.

Sceaduwe
The Lands of Shadow, this is the realm of evil.

Greot Saewall
A land of sand and dunes, except for upon the beaches, where lush plant life grows.

Mothare
The land of jungles, thick with plant life and exotic creatures. The forest:

Darkness ensues the plants and tall trees, milineair vegetation all around, looming over ancyent pathways that lead to caves, secret hideouts and to green meadows, hidden inside the forest...

Deep down in the middle of it lies a house, old a tattered, shutters banging int he wind. Few dare stroll in or even by this old place, since it's rumored to have spirits of old, almost millenair kitsus inside, and who knows if they're even nice ones.

The meadows are the light of the forest, bathed in clear sun light, they are almost the only places one can lay down and feel the sun, since the tall trees inside the forest let little light seep through their branches, always in eternal battle to gain the little that does seep in.

Snaking its way across the forest is a main river, branching from it are smaller streams, fish swim in its clear blue waters as birds swoop down to attempt a capture or two.

Torrland
A territory of towering mountains. Kitsusagi Mountain
Sister shop to the Realm of Kitsusagi, the Mountain is situated a short hike from the Realm's main house.
Considered to be a warm and welcoming place, the habitants of the mountain have been known to make a wonderful life in the hilly sides of the mountains.
