In the beggining....

On a dark night when the wind blew cold sea air through the streets a person lay in her bed restlessly trying to sleep. Haunted by dreams, she would lay awake and yet though the dreams now fade with the rising of the sun Jayoku couldn't help but feel something dangerous was haunting her dreams.

Looking over at her clock it read 5:30 am it was too early for her to get up, not that her body really wanted her to anyway. Against her will she could feel her eye lids getting heavy and sliding closed. The dream always started the same...and now it started again.

Walking through the empty city streets Jayoku felt the hairs raise on the back of her neck. It was quiet and the unnerving sense taht she has been here once...no more than that, several times before made her shiver with dread.

Turning down an alley Jayoku noticed the streets were remarkably clean, no garbage littered the ground, it was like this was a city that had never had a living person in it. Then there was a clattering sound just behind her, turning she saw lying, somehow intact, a lone candy cane.

Half turned something tugged at the back of her mind, something bad was going to happen if she approached it, but she couldn't remember what or why she would have to fear a candy cane. Turning she moved slowly hesitantly towards it the candy cane started to glow a bit and Jayoku stopped moving forward.

The candy cane now rose off of the ground, enlongated and seem to take the form of a rapier the red and white stripes still adorned on the blade and hilt. Jayoku's eyes widened in fear all her instinct told her to run but she stood stuck in her panic. She watched as the weapon tilted in the air and then lunge towards her.

Just as the tip entered her flesh. . .

Jayoku wrenched herself awake. Her heart was beating unfathomable fast, a hand cluthced her chest but the horror of the dream faded quickly leaving her full of dread. But just like other times the memory of the candy cane melted away as sunlight splashed across her sheets.

Looking over to her clock the clock read 5:45 am. Only 15 minutes had passed since she had looked last time, getting up she decided against sleeping more and moved towards the bathroom to try and wash her chill away.

It was late when he got home, which was not unusuial for Gry.
The lights were out at his house, his room mates were asleep.
His stomach churrned and he groaned in pain, he had gone to the icecream fest. Hundreds of differnt kinds of icecream and only 6 hours to try them all. Needless to say, he and his friends had stuffed themselfs full and were now suffering the consequnces.

He unlocked the door as quietly as he could and made his way to his room feeling the walls to find his way in moonlit house. ~Thunk~ "Sssssssssssssssshit" Gry cursed under his breath holding his toe and leaning against the nearest wall. After a few moments of rubbing his toe, he flipped on the light switch and was slightly dissapointed to realize that it really was his room. Looking down he could see the weights that he had stubbed his toe on... his whole room was a mess, but he didn't care, he just wanted to sleep..

Crawling into the bed he fell almost instantly to sleep, the pain in his stomach only bothering him slightly.
_Fade to black_

It was dark, and cold.
In fact, it was freezing and Gry couldn't move. All of a sudden he heard muffled noises, the chiming and clanking of cutlery on dishes, cheers of delight from young childern and what sounded like a freezer door opening.
Gry felt himself begin to move, and then stop abruptly as if put down onto somthing, again he moved, but only slightly as he heard a sliding accompanied by a light poping noise, light poured in and all Gry could see was the celing... a really big celing.. All of a sudden, a giant chocolate covered peanut looked into the hole. "Mmmm it looks good kids" it said as it drove a spoon deep into what surrouned Gry. At this point, he could feel his heart beating a mile a minuite. He was frantic to move, but it was too cold. He was now in a bowl, and had been handed off to a smaller peanut who then drove a spoon into the bowl and said "Thank you mommy, i loooovee people flavored icecream"
Gry tryed to scream but couldn't, again, it was too cold.
There was nothing he could do as he made his way, on a sliver spoon, to his doom.

Gry sat bolt upright... "What the... hell?!"
He was covered in a cold sweat and had no blankets on, his room was freezing.
Gry got up go go have a shower, mumbling to his roomie who was frying an egg; "I hate peanuts..."

Aurora burst into her room, tears welling in her eyes, cheeks red and face twisted with anxiety. She flung herself onto her bed face down and cried uncontrollably into her matress. Her mother could hear Auroras sobs from down in the living room, but she didnt care. What had this girl done wrong to be crying in such a pained manner? Nothing, that is the saddest part. Her mother was drunk and needed someone to blame to for all her problems, Aurora just happened to be in the kitchen at that time.

Aurora's sobbing subsided and she just lay in her bed motionless, face down, tears still streaming from her eyes.
"Your a failure! Why cant you ever make my life easier! I cant stand dealing with you and I cant wait till you are out of the house and I dont have to bother with such a useless person anymore!" She could still hear her mothers stinging words in her head, every syllable a deep cut in her.

As she lay motionless in her bed, so distraught that she was unaware of her own impeding drowsiness. It was like an instant, one moment she was was laying in the comfort of her bed, the next she was laying in the tall grass of her dream meadow. It happened in a blink of an eye, and soon she aware that she had drifted to sleep and was back in the serene place she had found in her dreams.

The breeze there was always constant, cool yet gentle on the skin. The grass always swayed hypnotically with a gentle wisk, and the night sky was always clear with bright stars. After a few moments of taking in the sounds of her dark grassy knoll her mother seemed to fade from her mind, and her pain seemed to just melt away. Aurora felt content laying there in the tall grass looking up at the stars.

One star shone brighter then the rest. She wondered for a moment then relized that it must be her sweet lil friend that she had met the other night here in this very setting. She did not move, she just layed on her back looking up at the bright star. Not soon after she heard a voice, it was not coming from anywhere around her, it was coming from inside her head! It was a gently voice, mysterious but kind.

"Do not fear sweet Aurora, your importance is more than you know. Without you I could not exist. So smile, and dream for me, and know that You mean more to me then anyone. Sleep my friend, and do not fret."

The voice faded and the bright star shot across the sky in a streak of light and out of view. Aurora's pain seemed to be gone. The little cupcake of her dreams loved her when no one else would. Feeling so serene, and having a new purpose Aurora closed her eyes and layed in that meadow until morning.
No one else ish ever in here whee

Struggling with a yawn Jayoku rubbed her eyes and attempted to get up. The morning sun had long since risen and it faintly registered in the back of her mind the fact that the nights were getting shorter and the days longer. Giving up she rested her head back on her pillow and listen to the crows cawing outside her window. Blasted things, she couldn't stand crows......

When opening her eyes again she was surprised to find herself standing outside in a city street that seemed naggingly familiar. How did she come to be standing? Let alone be in a city all of a sudden? She took a step forward and deja ve hit her. Running a hand over her forehead she brushed her hair out of her face and with her free hand pushed up her glasses to sit on the bridge of her nose. Looking about she knew she had seen this place before somewhere…. But as she walked she couldn’t place it. The streets were empty not even the sound of the wind blew through the alley ways.

The silence was un-nerving. Even the scuffles of her own footsteps seemed muted. She wanted to say something, yell or even scream, but the heavy silence was a bit intimidating. It was like if any loud noise were to come along it would cause the serene to turn into chaos.

She stopped walking, the hairs on the back of her neck rising as she felt the presence again. Turning about 30 degrees out of the corner of her eye she thought she saw a shadowy figure duck into an alleyway. About to turn fully she heard something crunch under foot. Peering down she noticed splinters of red and white, taking a step back she found a crushed candy cane lying on the ground.

The candy cane shimmered slightly then the fragile pieces as if drawn by a magnet flew back towards the candy cane and formed it into one solid piece again. Hesitant Jayoku took another step backwards, she watched as it floated into the air.

In an instant is was like oxygen was pumped back into the town, and in a flood a mixture of sounds and smells flooded her senses, bewildered she was unable to avoid the lengthening candy cane blade hurtling towards her chest….

Jayoku’s eyes sprung open. Not again…not that dream again. But she sensed even as the dream faded rapidly into the depths of her mind that something had changed…even if it was ever so slight, she knew something had been added to the scene. Rolling over she finally decided it was time for her to get up and take a hot shower.
