When someone mentions candycanes it always reminds me of the time my sister to a candycane off the christmas tree and started munching on it. then freaked when she was told that it had been put on the tree as a decoration for several years. rofl

We did that once Natty...and while it was fun to watch it bubble and melt and stuff it crytalizes again once it cools and they cool quickly so melting it in the pot with stuff that won't let it cool is the only way I can think of to do it.
