It won't take the next step of even if you were married out of state that it will be recognized federally or allow gay marriage throughout the US.

what they should do. To make everyone a bit happy. Would be to say. The states that don't wanna do gay marage is fine but that those who get married else where should be recognized no matter what. It would be a perfect step in my opinion because then slowly those states would get used to the idea. but that requires more intelligence then majority of who we have in the government....
