Her nostrils flared as she shifted on her hooves. Bold and bright she might be... But she wasn't stupid. She knew when things were off and something was certainly not all right at the moment. She could feel it almost as if it were closing in around her, getting closer and closer...

She shook it off with a haughty toss of her head, bright smile beaming from her pale face. "It was a spook. They've been out and about these days... Met two just the other night." Only those two 'spooks' hadn't given off nearly the same feeling as whatever was out there tonight. "They're mostly harmless if you know how to treat them right..." The males, at least.

Her ears flattened slightly as she sidestepped closer to the minty silver stallion that she was more familiar with. "Good, good, Mr. Hat. Glad you've been doing well... What about you, Mostly Silent? Do you have a name?"

Strange as the bucketed one looked, he seemed to have something going on upstairs. Haru didn't know exactly what that smell was, but it was bothersome. Troubling, even, and he didn't like it.

Narrowing his eyes, he glanced around the field as well, trying to figure out where the source was. The problem was that he couldn't see anything, and after that one laugh, there didn't seem to be any sound. Yet another thing that he didn't like.

"Hatsuharu." One question, one answer, short and to the point so as to not distract from the problem of 'what's out there.' "Do spooks really have scents? I'm not sure that they do, actually..."

"How pleasant, his name turns into mine" He grinned at the other stallion. He doubted the other would find it as amusing as he did but not everyone could appreciate things the way he was allowed. Better that way anyway.

Letting the mare shift closer to him without taking much notice. He was busy letting his eyes wander around them looking for the source of the unpleasantness. If it were truly a spook as Kat had said then he'd be hard pressed to see it but one could never be sure.

Desdemona, upon hearing those words, felt strongly tempted to play with the pretty white and pink one. "Hello, precious. Do you believe in ghosts?" Muzzle to muzzle with the female, the Skinwalker let her very sharp teeth show. "Or did I somehow mistake the vein of this conversation you seem to be having, hmm?" Her breath smelled of death, and all manner of things foul... with the strangest hint of strawberries. And, was that... roses? Perhaps. It was always nice to destroy something beautiful. Something, in fact, rather like this mare. She grinned wickedly, the cold laughter bubbling up once more. She couldn't help it. The chaos demanded to be fed, and she had no intention of denying it.

Gold eyes went wide as she stared at the mare before her, breath catching in her throat with a soft 'squeak'. She managed to remain perfectly still otherwise and, for the first time since her arrival on the plains, she fell completely silent... No smart remarks. No bright smiles. No soft, sly speeches. Exactly what was this mare?

Whoa. Where the hell had that mare COME from??? Haru's eyes narrowed even more as he eyed the new arrival, noting the foul smell that seemed to rise from that grey pelt that the mare (or at least, he was pretty sure it was a mare) wore about her shoulders. She'd appeared so fast, so quietly...

She was the thing that had been lurking, alright. But what did she want?
