Was he really? =o Oh goooddd. I think I need to go get him now. >.> As soon as I decide what he looks like. xD I have a vaguely white but with edges as dark as a noble can go to represent his corruption and his status as a controversial figure but not sure how to manifest it. ergh. /babble

Do lamp keepers know who their families are aside from like...their caste because of the owl head they have?

Lampkeepers sometimes know who their families are -- there's no law against family members contacting them or visiting them at Leastgate, although this is fairly uncommon. Most families just write off their Lampkeeper progeny and do their best to forget about it. It isn't shameful to have a Lampkeeper in the family but it is a sign that there are some dark-colored genetics in the bloodline, which many nobles would rather not make public.

One thing to keep in mind is that not all nobles have owl heads, it's just the head type that I arbitrarily chose to represent their caste because I wanted some aesthetic differentiation between the default models. For gryphons, head type is a bit like hair color in that a child can end up with the head type of either parent or the recessive vulture genes of Great Aunt Agatha, so it's not a very good way to determine caste parentage.

Alas! Semi-customs do allow you some degree of control over what the gryphon looks like, but I guess it depends on how much detail you have in mind.
