]IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT
Name: Bad Tidings
Personality: A morbidly cheerful pessimist, Bad Tidings is the one in the group who happily announces ‘looks like we’re all going to die!’ when anything dicey happens. Are you going for a swim after you just ate? Oh yeah, you’ll probably drown! Her eyes are wide and her mouth is a big ‘O’. head giving a little bob up and down. Isn’t it cool? Did you know what happens when you drown? it’s very quiet! Not splashy like on TV. Nobody will even know! Water fills yours lungs and -- yeah, probably best just to walk away.
A Scary Story
When she went to bed she always jumped.
The biggest leap she could make.
There was an invisible line she knew that she couldn’t cross.
Only then, when she safe under the blankets, could the lights be turned off.
Only then could she sleep and dream of happy things.
‘Don’t be silly,’ her mother said.
‘You're a big girl now,’ her father chided.
But she knew she had to jump.
Just like her friend made sure to close the closet.
There were rules you didn’t break.
But one night... she forgot.
How do you forget such a thing, you ask?
It’s a simple thing.
The little girl was tired.
She’d stayed up too late and she tottered to bed, rubbing at her eyes.
She stepped and stepped and her knees hit the bed.
With sudden panic she scrambled back to safety and waited with quick little breaths, watching the darkness under the bed.
Nothing came out.
Nothing attacked.
She jumped to her bed and crawled into the sheets.
The lights went off.
Safe.
It was ok.
Maybe her parents were right.
She slowly relaxed and drifted off to sleep.
Snap snap!
Something tugged at the bottom of her blanket.
Something slithered inside.
Snap snap!
Nothing was safe.
No blanket could shield her.
She had broken the rules.
Snap snap!
you said make it snappy
