Spanning from horizon to horizon, Kells stretches in an unending expanse that none can claim to have seen the end of. The stories of its birth have been lost to time but many whisper that it has always existed, seeded at the creation of the world, the trees growing and dying in an unending, unbroken cycle of life. The largest trees soar into the clouds and the thickest canopies blot out even the sun. When one of the giants falls, it is quickly returned to the soil of its birth, eager seedlings reaching for the new swath of sunlight opened among the boughs above. The luckiest of Wolves is the one that sees a tree fall, because there is surely a Forest Spirit waiting in the shadows to bring in new life from this death.

NEW Our Community Tree Event is happening: Here!

{3/22/2020} A Note From Staff
exclaim Please be mindful of the world around us and what is going on. We as a community will be here through it all, but things might slow down a bit depending on what happens in the upcoming weeks. Just be mindful that our staff is dealing with this too, so if a breeding or custom is taking extra time, please understand why.

Meta update: While we had our hopes set on pushing out the shop's first large scale Meta, we will have to push it back in lieu of these recent events. So look forward to the upcoming Meta in the months to follow.

As we all settle in for the weeks to come please show one another kindness and understanding, our staff will do our best to accommodate you to the best of our abilities. Thank you for being such wonderful people. heart

General rules
    • Obey Gaia's ToS and the Breedables Forum rules and guidelines.
    • Do not direct-link. Save all of your images to your own server, please!
    • We will not normally PM you for a growth or for tagging. Instead, try to stay up-to-date with the thread.
    • You can have as many wolves as you want. There is no restriction on the number you can own.
    • Roleplaying is encouraged, but not required.
    • Please do not steal, copy or alter any of the art work. Doing so will get you reported and banned from the shop.
    • Please direct shop-related questions/comments/concerns via PM to shop mule.
    • Roleplaying is not required - but it is encouraged!
    • You may not sell or trade your pets, their offspring, or familiars. You can, however, gift them away to friends or hold a free event (flaffle, RP/Concept contest). To hold an event, send a PM to the mule labeled “User-run Event” with the details, and we’ll work something out.
    • Same-sex pairs are allowed, though they cannot reproduce.
    • Do not attempt to bribe the colorists to open breeding slots/customs.
    • If you win a wolf and don't claim it within 24hrs, we will re-game the wolf!

Custom rules
    • We do not allow cosplay/humanoid customs.
    • Customs are not permitted to have product logos/band logos on them.
    • Please read all of the information on Colors & Dye.

Sales rules
    • All customs & breedings are Pay What You Want.
    • Rules vary from sale to sale - read! Make sure to read all the rules and requirements when participating in a sale. Note that in all events that require it, payments are due within 24 hours

Roleplaying Rules
    • Roleplaying is not required, but encouraged!
    • Follow the Daisy Code.
    • Make sure to read on the setting/breed info before you start roleplaying.
    • Keep it PG-13. Take anything else to DM.
    • Keep OOC separate from IC.
    • Try to stick with one tense when RPing. Switching back and forth between first and third person is confusing and hard to read.
    • All RP is to be formal. Meaning, while OOC RP with **’s/etc. in the thread is fine, it will not fly in IC RP.
    • Do not God Mod.
    • Be courteous to RPers. If there is an RP going on in the main thread and you are not participating, please put your text in ((brackets)) as to not disturb the players.

Sentient and intelligent, the wolves have higher mental abilities than some of the other inhabitants of the land. They have distinct personalities and a wide emotional range, and are capable of problem-solving, and have interests in the workings of the world. They form strong family bonds, typically raising their offspring from birth well into adolescence. Many prefer to keep their children with them in familial groups, or may form groups based on similar interests or needs. On occasion, they have also been known to form alliances with creatures other than wolves, whether for friendship or for services.

All breed descriptions are merely for representation of the breeds and should not be interpreted as clear cut guidelines of your character.

Dire Wolves
In Kells, wolves are kings. Roaming in packs, they rule the lands, stronger together than apart. There is no other creature like them in all of Kells. Though they are one of the only large predators in Kells, it isn't uncommon for wolves to fight amongst themselves or rival packs.

User Image

Berserker Wolves
The largest of the predators in Kells, the brutes have sharp teeth and elongated claws to match their gruff look. They are darker in color compared to the other species in Kells, where a pup born white amongst their ranks is rare. They often live in family clans, adopting surnames that pass from generation to generation to distinguish family lines.

User Image

Wolfdogs (Hybrids)
The Wolfdogs are the smallest of the canine species in Kells. When man roamed the land, the smaller Dires were bred and domesticated in order to serve the two legged beings. Since the human demise, the small canines remain carefree and playful, with a touch of rambunctiousness to them. They are a loyal creature, through and through.

User Image

Ethereal Wolves
Once thought of to be spirits of Kells, the Ethereal are a lean, wisp like canine that roam the land between here and the Veil. Unlike dire wolves, the Ethereal may be unnaturally colored without the use of dye. A pair will mate for life, and are unlikely to join a pack, or form one of their own. They are born with Magic in their blood, and are said to be as old as time.

Seers are wolves with the gift of Sight. Sight varies -- from seeing events of the past, to outcomes of the distant future -- and no two Seers share the same vision. Often considered the most powerful beings in all of Kells, they are extremely rare and can be distinguished from other wolves by their purple eyes.

User Image

Seers are solely female. As children, their visions are little more than glimmers in their eyes, but as they age and their abilities develop, the visions become more vivid and controlled, as well as more physically taxing. Male wolves born from Seer bloodlines can sometimes carry and pass on the Seer gene. Males with this mutation often exhibit heterochromia -- one of their eyes will be purple -- and they are more susceptible to severe headaches from the pressure of their undeveloped abilities.

User Image

Empaths are familiars with purple eyes, and can be either males or females of any species. These familiars experience a limited variation of the Sight; they are more sensitive to emotions and foreboding feelings. Empaths also passively create a localized dampening effect that can be beneficial to purple-eyed males, significantly easing their Sight-induced headaches.

Warging...
Seers who have bonded with an Empath and depend considerably on their relationship can briefly see through an Empath’s eyes - an ability called warging. While the ability is innate, it requires focus and cooperation to be able to connect with a bonded Empath. Due to the strain it causes, even the most skilled Seer cannot use this ability for longer than fifteen minutes before needing a few hours’ break.

While warging, a Seer and their bonded Empath will share sensations equally. Physical wounds gained by either Seer or Empath will not manifest on the other, but any pain will be felt by both and can potentially break the connection depending on the severity. If the Empath dies while connected, the Seer will be physically disabled and unfocused for a few moments. Seers can only be bonded and warg with one Empath at a time, as the effort is far too great to maintain multiple connections.

User Image

Male blooded Seers...
    • Male wolves born from seer blood can sometimes carry the seer gene, this mutation can physically manifest it's self through the male having one purple eye. This male will have a greater chance at creating a seer when he breeds.
    • Male wolves that carry the seer gene can experience headaches from the pressure of their underdeveloped sight. Though they are not true seers they can still become overwhelmed by these effects.

Breeding...
    • Only Dire x Dire and Ethereal x Ethereal can create true Seer wolves. No seer gene will be passed down to pure bred Berserker or Wolf-dogs in breedings. However, the seer gene can manifest in their offspring if interbreed with a Dire wolf or Ethereal.

How to obtain a Seer
    • Seer wolves can not be customed.
    • Though some will be event-based, most Seers come from breeding(s).
    • When you submit a breeding form, you must post that you would like a chance to roll for a Seer in your breeding.
    • If your litter rolls on the same number as the shop mule's, a Seer will be born into your litter. Limit one Seer per normal breeding.
    • If it is a Seer x Seer gene carrier mating, the chances of them birthing more than one is doubled, thus they can have up to two seers per litter.

Familiars are not necessarily 'pets' to the wolves here. Though they can be pets, they don't have to be attached to a Wolf character.

Stages of growth
• Baby (3-6 weeks) • Adult •

User Image

Hares
    • Some wolves would say that it is a bad idea to become friends with your food, but more than one has chosen a hare as a companion. Alert, quick and loving, the hare can definitively be useful. On the other hand, they are not always the most intelligence of creatures and can be extremely skittish, especially around wolves they don’t know.

User Image

Crows
    • Now crows on the other hand are incredibility intelligent and demand respect from all of those who stop to listen to their chatter. A wolf would be wise to befriend a bird that could act as their eyes above the tress. Crows are often used to carry messages from one place to another, but they do make for good companionship and conversations.

User Image

Deer
    • Strong and sturdy with a dash of cautious paranoia, common deer of Kells are often found traveling in herds and on rare occasion have been known to partner themselves with wolves for extra protection. Though these two species are often at odd ends, familiar bonds can grow between them if trust is earned, forming unorthodox but strong.

User Image

Raccoons
    • Cunning and mischievous, it didn't take long for the raccoons of Kells to realize how useful a wolf companion can be. Luckily for the wolves, raccoons are generally worth any minor trouble they may get into; their little hands work much better than paws for things like crafting and gathering.

User Image

Vultures
    • Is the largest bird of prey in Kells. They are most commonly found in the Waylands, but have made a mark in the Redwoods as well. They are sharp and witty creatures with a keen eye for detail. These large and inelegant birds live off of scraps and bones - the leftover remains of other predators kills. They are known to fly in small kettles, and have been seen following Beserkers around the Waylands like a looming shadow, always waiting for their next meal.

User Image

Bears
    • Despite their large size and somewhat frightening appearance, most bears are quite gentle and affectionate. They are fiercely protective of those they hold dear, however, and their strength makes them a formidable ally.

User Image

Puma
    • Are the second largest predator in Kells. They are most commonly found in the Waylands, but have been known to cross the Moongate to find shelter in the mountains of the Bluestone. Puma are said to live very solitary lives, hunting alone in the shadow of night and mating only when they have found the perfect partner. They care for their young until they are old enough to hunt on their own.

User Image

Peryton
    • Are strong and sturdy creatures. They live in herds and usually mate for life. It’s been said that their antlers secrete poison, and that they can use their wings to glide around the lands with ease. Once a year Peryton shed their horns, leaving them to be collected by other creatures in Irithyll. Both male and female Peryton sport horns, they do not define gender. They are loyal, and have aligned themselves with the Ethereal, protecting their most coveted locations.

User Image

The Wisp
    • Is the most common familiar to the Ethereal. They light up the dark with their iridescent glow, and have been called the heart of the Ethereal. They are very loyal to their wolf counterpart and will spend their entire life bonded to one single Ethereal. When their wolf dies, they die. They are born from the magic in the land, and while they do not breed or grow and are gender-less, they are a magical creature, always following the light that guides them.

User Image

Jackalopes
    • Are the most mischievous familiar to the Ethereal. The Jackalope are known for their speed, as well as their trickery. Both male and females have horns, that don’t define gender. Jackalopes are known to be willing guides in Irithyll. When not wandering around, they stay in burrows underground.

Some basic Familiar information
    • Familiars can be dyed and wear items!
    • A single familiar can only be bonded to one wolf at a time.
    • Familiars don't have to be bonded to a wolf!
    • You don't need to own a wolf to own a familiar.

Climate: Warm during the spring and summer, colorful during fall, and icy come winter •

At the beginning, Kells was a world where both man and wolf lived. Whether it was harmonious or not through all species, the two knew their boundaries and peace remained. However, as man evolved, so did their outlook on life. While wolves remained roaming nature, humans began to decimate the natural world, building structures of stone that marred the beauty of Kells. Resources began to dwindle, woods burned, rivers dried and newly created metal weaponry brought fear to all creatures of the world.

Not only did man bring destruction, but diseases ran rampant; plagues swept through the land of Kells, one of which they had never seen the likes of before.

A primitive version of Blight formed, and ran rampart amongst the lands. Slowly the disease began to eat away at mankind, causing their numbers to wane. It did not take long with that, as well as the already built tension between man and wolf, to lead to complete extinction of man, and eventual rise of the wolf.

Legend says that deep in the forests of Kells, there was a place called Stonehenge. Ancestors traveled there for mysterious gatherings; and whether it was malevolent or sacred, all agree that it was a place steeped in magic. However, its true purpose and location have long been forgotten. All that remain are legends.

When we say natural colors and tones, please reference these: here and here.

Custom rules
    • Custom openings can be tracked through the news in the main thread or by watching this subforum.
    • Customs are not permitted to have product logos/band logos on them.
    • Please read all of the information on Colors and Dyes before submitting for a custom.
    • Do not steal someone else's pet/character design from another shop/site (this includes deviantart and similar websites) and use them as references. If you did not create any of the art or concepts you are using, you must have permission to use them.
    • On the same lines, do not attempt to get a custom of a pet you own in another shop but did NOT design - please get permission from the person that designed it first.
    • Do not expect the colorist to hand over your custom until you've paid.

User Image

Colors and markings
• Pelt colors are very natural here in Kells; think realistically. (Examples: black wolves, red wolves, timber wolves.)
• Markings are predominantly natural, as well, though markings from other animals are generally acceptable. (Examples: Tiger, leopard)

Common pelt colors
• Black, brown, red, silver, gray, blue, and white.
• Dire Wolves can not be purple, green, or rainbow.
- Any shade of the colors above are all acceptable pelt colors, they can also be mixed.

User Image

Common eye colors
• Brown, yellow, green, blue and black.
- Any shade of the colors above are acceptable eye colors. Heterochromia is also very common in Kells.

Uncommon eye colors
• All Seers are born with purple eyes. However, the shade may vary from Seer to Seer. Seers cannot be customed.

User Image

Basic dye information
    • Dyes can be uncommon colors. (Examples: green, blue, and purple.)
    • They can be any variation of unnatural colors, as well as fading, but they cannot cover more than 75% of a wolf's body.
    • Dyes do not pass down naturally in breedings.
    • Please remember that rainbow dye isn't allowed.
    • Dyes can be patterns, symbols, blotches, henna/tattoo like markings.
    • Dyes cannot be offensive.

User Image

Dye and puppies
    • Puppies are not permitted to have dye on them.
    • If your colorist allows, puppies given away via events may request for dye jobs at their adult stage.
    • Custom puppies will grow into their requested dye colors and markings.
    • If you have any questions about dye and pups, please feel free to PM the mule!

User Image

Edits and breeding
    • If your wolf has a special edit, that edit has a chance to pass on in breedings.
    • This chance will always be 50% from the original wolf.

Things to consider when breeding
    • If your wolf has a large amount of dye covering it's body (and you don't own a clean image of them) the colorist has the right to CC (colorists choice) the covered markings. This means that your puppies might end up with markings you do not recognize!

Notes
    • If you'd like a chance of the parents dye 'passing on' to their offspring, please make sure post the dyed images of the breeding pair when submitting a breeding form. The colorist will CC dye onto the adult stage(s) of your litter using inspiration from both parents! Please understand that this is completely up to the colorists discretion, colorists are not obligated to dye every puppy in every litter they color!

Wolves in Kells are generally monogamous. Mated pairs usually remain together for life, or until one of the pair dies. Though this is the most common form of mating/breeding, polygamy can occur in established packs. Incest between siblings, parents/children, grandparents/grandchildren, aunts or uncles/nephews or nieces is not permitted.

Please know that...
Puppies often grow into their markings, and can develop and show more colors as they age!

Payment
    • There is a breeding fee of (Pay what you want)
    • All payments must be sent to the artist!
    • Fees can be split up between each owner, so long as it all goes to the artist in one trade.

Basic Rules
    • You may only win one slot per breeding.
    • A wolf may only be entered in one breeding opening at a time. In the event of multiple colorists having slots available at the same time, you may enter the same wolf in each thread, but you may only win one slot for that wolf.
    • You may keep one pup per breeding.
    • Each wolf (or familiar) may only breed three times in a calendar year. The only exceptions to this rule are life mated/married characters and more information on that may be found here.
    • Wolves (and familiars) may only have one litter at a time; both males and females must wait for their current litter to grow to adult before they may be entered in additional breedings.
    • The twin gene can pass down in breedings, if your wolf is a twin make sure to make a note of it when submitting for a breeding!
    • All puppies need to be posted for certs at the same time, or else your litter will not grow.

Dye & Breeding
    • If your wolf has a large amount of dye covering it's body (and you don't own a clean image of them) the colorist has the right to CC (colorists choice) the covered markings. This means that your puppies might end up with markings you do not recognize!

Who Can Breed
    • Male x female breeding only. Though same sex pairs are allowed, only male x female pairs can breed.
    • Puppies, NPCs, and females with pups who have not yet grown to adulthood cannot breed.
    • You may breed two of your own wolves together or enter your wolf with one belonging to someone else.
    • Sometimes, a colorist may offer special breedings known as Rogue or Mix-and-Match. In this case, only one wolf is necessary.

When the Pups Arrive
    • You will receive a PM when the puppies arrive. After you gather the required information, you will need to fill out the cert request form and post it in the Certing subforum; if you don't your pup will not be certed or grow!

In order to get RP benefits
    • Each parent needs two completed RP logs (with at least 5 posts per log, 500 words each) for the breeding.
    • At least one RP for each parent must have both parents in it; the other can be solo or with a different wolf.

Types of Breeding
Standard Breeding: As the name suggests, this is a basic breeding between a male and female wolf.

Rogue Breeding: Female wolves can enter for a rogue breeding. This means that the father of the puppies will be completely random! Markings and colors will be up to the colorist, please understand this when entering for a rogue breeding! This option is not always available.

Mix-and-Match: If you don't have a partner for breeding, but would still like to enter, you may enter your wolf into a pool where it might get chosen for a breeding with another wolf from that pool. Mix-and-Match wolves will be paired together at random or at the colorist's discretion. This option is not always available.

Packs are a way for fellow players to interact and engage with one another. They can be the focus of plots and role plays, or simply a form of social status for the wolves. We highly encourage pack-building!

The wolves of Kells have no universal set of traditions for how they live or with whom they form packs, so there is a great deal of leeway for how a pack could be put together. Typically, however, there are one or two alphas who lead a group consisting of any number of other wolves. Sometimes a pack consists solely of family; but more often, it consists of both related and unrelated wolves, bound together by like-mindedness, birth, or some other cause.

• Packs can be very beneficial. Players who form Clans will have more role playing opportunities, and Wolves in Packs get more chances for RP perks.

• Packs are meant for Role-playing! If you do not foresee your characters participating in many RPs then you should not form a Pack. Any Packs that do not have one RP every two months will be automatically disbanded. It is the Pack Leaders responsibility to maintain active players and RPs.

• Creating a Pack should not be taken lightly. It does require some work, but it is NOT all the responsibility of the Alpha. A group effort is much easier for all involved! Packs need to be created with individuals who are willing to work to sustain them; failure to keep a Pack moving will result in loss of breeding perks and eventual disbanding.

Pack rules and upkeep
    • Packs must be active. If your pack subforum isn't active for six months, your pack will be disbanded.
    • To be considered active, your pack subforum must have AT LEAST two completed RPs per two months.
    • If your pack is disbanded, you must wait a month before trying to renew your pack/pack lands.
    • If you choose not to renew your pack lands, the location/pack lands will become available for someone else to claim.
    • All pack leaders/alphas will be held responsible for their underlings' actions while in character!

Please follow this link for more information on how to form a pack in Kells!

As you roleplay, chat and remain active within the thread, you might be lucky enough to be granted a wolf totem. These totems come in three styles and each represents what you have earned with your shop and guild activities.
This thread will record how many of each kind of totem you have acquired. When you use your totems, they will be deducted appropriately.

Green Totem
    • Represents one point and is earned through thread activity and helpfulness, given upon staff discretion.
    • Such things include: directing a newbie to a helpful thread, answering questions when staff aren't available to, and general good humor and attitude.

Five Green Totems = one randomly colored wolf
Ten Green Totems = one custom colored wolf

Red Totem
    • Represents an extra pup in any breeding. This totem can only be achieved through roleplay, upon staff discretion. Red totems are given to those roleplaying a wolf with the express intent of breeding it.
    • Only one Red totem may be used per breeding.
    • Use of Red totems is on a twp month cooldown.
    • To receive another Red totem after the cooldown, new RPs will be required.

Blue Totem
    • Blue totems are used in a breeding, and allow the user to completely customize one of their wolf's impending puppies. (NOTE: This does not work as an addition pup totem.)
    • One Blue totem per person, per breeding may be used, with a maximum of two totems used in a single breeding (this occurring if each wolf parent is owned by a different person) with a three month cooldown.
    • Requires 5 completed RPs to earn.

• To redeem your Green totems please PM the mule, WelcomeToKells.
• To redeem Red and Blue totems, please inform staff at the time of the breeding that you wish to use one. Any Red or Blue totems earned after the breeding has already started cannot be used.

*Only RPs from the NEW guild will qualify for these perks.

Types of Roleplay
    (PRP) = Private Roleplay
(ORP) = Open to public Roleplay
    (SRP) = Self Roleplay
(LOG) = A Roleplay that takes place offsite and is logged in the guild.

RPs that qualify for Breedings
    • Breeding Roleplays must be 500 words (min) to qualify.
    • The number will be cut in half if you play with someone else. 500 words, 250 words a person (min).
    • This can come in the form of standard rp, or discord rp that is logged in a readable form in our guild.
    • If you are doing a SRP, you alone will be responsible for the 500 (min) words yourself.

Roleplays that will count toward 'Points'
    • Completed roleplays can now be exchanged for points, which work towards a variety of new and exciting prizes. When deciding to play, one (1) completed rp equates to one (1) point, so the more you roleplay the more points you can collect!
    • You can use your points immediately or opt to save them up for a more expensive prize, (make sure to keep track of this privately in your personal threads!) however, once an rp/point is expended it cannot be used again.
    • You will need to acquire all new rps/points to continue buying from the shop.
    • Point RPs are 500 words per person involved. Unlike the breeding rules, the point count cannot be split between players.

Roleplay Point Rewards
    • Rewards are simple. For every qualifying RP you submit you will receive a point.
    • This thread will contain prizes for you to cash in over-time.
    • You can submit a total of 2 rps a week, and receive no more than 2 points a week.
    • To make your exchange final, fill out the form and post it in this thread! You will be quoted if there are any discrepancies with your form/rps!

How do I qualify?
    • Ensure that your rps meet the qualifications for exchange. 500 words per person minimum = 1 point. Any words in excess within one rp do not spill over.
    • Only RPs held within the guild, with (_RP) in the title, are eligible for point exchange. No offsite rps are permitted at this time.
    • Be sure to only post your 2 rps for exchange per week; we will be monitoring this closely! Anyone who breaks this rule may be banned from playing for prizes!

User Image

RP Point Prizes Include
