The Fafner society consists of a monarchy with a Royal family that reigns over the entire Isle of Andvari, where power and control is then distributed and localized to the Nobility of each Clan. Every Clan has claimed a share of territory on which they Hunt and Harvest, and the boundaries are enforced by Patrols overseen by the Royals. The Clan is made up of Commoners that all contribute in some way to their community and small portions of their daily gatherings are presented to their respective Nobles as patronage, and in turn the Nobles submit an annual tithe to the Royal family.

The Fafner society has lived on in peace and harmony since its establishment, despite the small rivalries between Clans and the few but short conflicts that arise between Nobles. However, recently a small faction of Rebels have joined together to roam the Isle of Andvari as they promote their ideal of a democracy. Many have broken away from the relative safety and shelter provided by staying within a Clan, joining the Rebel leader Cerberus and his followers.

» Royals [NA]
The Royal family, namely the King and Queen, are the sole rulers of Andvari. They establish statutes which the Nobles must follow when forming the laws of their Clans, and also have the authority to overrule the Nobles. The Royal family only demands a small portion of the Nobles’ wealth as an annual patronage.
Only children born of the Royal bloodline are allowed to become the new sovereigns upon the death of the former. The direct children of the current King and Queen are the first eligible to the throne, but not necessarily in order of age. The King and Queen appoint one of their children as the successor, usually the one deemed most suitable for the duty, while the others are then bestowed the title of Noble and granted their own Clans to rule over.

» Nobles [Bribe only]
Answering directly and only to the King and Queen, the Nobles are the families that lead a Clan. A Noble family is usually related to the Royal family by blood, but there have been a few rare occurrences of the Royal family appointing a common family to Nobility. Nobles are easily recognized not only by their sophisticated and sometimes arrogant natures, but especially by their physical differences: taller and more slender with a horn on their foreheads.
The Nobles have control of a small portion of land on which their Clan resides, and they are permitted a percentage of every hunt and gather by the Commoners. They are also authorized to set forth and enforce any laws within the standard regulations established by the Royals, but only upon their own Clan members as their decree does not extend to those of another Clan.

Chevaliers [Bribe only]
Skilled warriors chosen by the Nobles, Chevaliers act as the loyal bodyguard of an assigned Noble to protect them from any and all danger threats even at the expense of their own life. Chevaliers are also in charge of the Clan's Patrol, directing and commanding the Sentinels to act against any major threats. They will usually assign a Sentinel to act as commanding leader on a event-by-event basis.
Because of their complete devotion to their Nobles and duty as Clan protectors, Chevaliers do not have the time to consider socializations and neither do they care for material goods. They are handpicked at a young age to be trained to become a Chevalier, thus are raised and provided for by the Nobles their entire life.

» Commoners
As in most societies, the majority of the population is developed around the Commoners, the members of a Clan that live under the rule of the Nobles and Royals. They exist happily under the protection of their Nobles and see no reason to rebel against the Royal family. Some Commoners have even been known to act aggressively towards Rebels for disrupting the peace and harmony of the Clans, but others hold no grudges against the Rebels and may even show some compassion.
The Commoners make their living by contributing to the community, from teaching the children to providing food for the Clan. Though there are five separate professions for Commoners, only the Speakers, Hunters and Harvesters are considered to be an integrated part of a Clan. Some argue that the Sentinels are also tied to their Clan regardless of their loyalty to the Royal family, since they contribute safety to the Clan and receive portions of the daily gatherings. Craftmakers, however, separate themselves from the community because of the secrecy as well as demands required by their profession.

Speakers [RP only]
The storytellers of the Fafners, there are usually one or two within a Clan that are delegated the responsibility of passing down their history and traditions to the new generations. Speakers are gifted entertainers that can sing, dance, or simply act out tales and stories to entertain as well as teach the young. They are the most knowledgeable of anyone about the truth and legends of the Fafners.

Craftmakers [RP only]
A highly coveted position, very few are able to obtain the status of Craftmaker as the quests required do so are extremely perilous and the techniques involved are even harder to master. But the select few that overcome the obstacles are rewarded with not only a graciously profitable profession but also the rare respect from the Nobles, for Craftmakers are the only ones knowledgeable and therefore, capable of crafting the jewelry that adorns the bodies of all the Royals and Nobles. Those who wish to become a Craftmaker must first apply to be an Apprentice under a current Master Craftmaker, for they are the only ones who know the secret to fashioning jewelry. Few are accepted, and even less survive the ordeals necessary to reach Mastership.

Hunters
The majority of the Commoners consists of Hunters and Harvesters, the Hunters are the ones who track small prey in their Clan’s territory. Their game is brought back to be stored and shared among its Clan members, though a small portion is presented to their Nobles as patronage.

Harvesters
The majority of the Commoners consists of Hunters and Harvesters, the Harvesters are the ones who forage for edible vegetation in their Clan’s territory. Their collection is brought back to be stored and shared among its Clan members, though a small portion is presented to their Nobles as patronage.

Healers
A newly instated rank, only recently have Fafners discovered the ability to use certain herbs as medicine to enhance the body's healing process and to remedy certain illnesses. Healers learn the basic anatomy of a Fafner, as well as the location and uses of specific herbs, so as to mend small pains and injuries. However, they are still incapable of mending bones or curing major diseases.

Sentinels
The protectors of the realm, the Sentinels are stationed in groups called Patrols within each Clan’s territory, acting as a police force that ensures the safety of all those under the reign of the Royal family. While the Sentinels respect and comply with the Nobles’ commands, they are still under direct order of the King and Queen, placing the welfare of the entire Fafner population before even the safety of the Nobles, especially in preventing any violent disputes from erupting between Clan rivalries. They are also the main force behind protecting the general population against Rebel raids, but they focus their strength around the Commoners rather than the Nobles.

Stalkers
Stalkers are actually a Rebel rank as they are the spies for the Rebels, their true intents unknown to the rest of the Clan that they have chosen to reside with. They have infiltrated the Hunters, Harvesters or Healers and act as lookout as well as information gatherer for the Rebels.

» Rebels
Those who oppose the Royal family and the system of monarchy have recently come together to form a Rebel group, created and led by Cerberus. The Rebels dislike such a system of paying patronage to Nobles that have not done a single day’s hard labor, and openly display their defiance with a white ribbon somewhere on their body.
The Rebels travel throughout the entire Isle spreading word of their cause, gathering more followers as they pass by and even through common Clan territories. They often Hunt and Harvest on a Clan’s land for this where game and vegetation is most rich and plentiful, but sometimes they are forced out of the territories by the local Patrol. In most cases, a significant number of the Rebels engage in raiding storage for food as well as jewelry, though they rarely steal from anyone other than the Nobles.

Commander [NA]
The one and only leader of the Rebels, currently Cerberus, the Commander is the one that all the Rebels look up to for orders as well as guidance. He is the head of operations for the Rebels, planning and leading all Raids on the Nobles’ storages. But he has a few select advisors that he appoints as the sub-commanders of the Rebels, known as the Elites, usually for other affairs and sometimes to act as leader when he is unavailable.

Elites [Bribe only]
The sub-commanders of the Rebels, chosen by the Commander himself, the Elites are just as respected by the Rebels. There are usually two to four, and the most experienced of the Elites is unofficially the second in command of operations. Otherwise, the Elites manage most daily activities, from organizing Hunts or Harvests to arranging trades on the Black Market.

Stalkers
Residing in one of the official Clans, the Stalkers' job is extremely risky and dangerous since they must find time to secretly slip away from the Clan in order to meet with and relay information to the Commander and Elites. But they are the ones who gather intel so that the Rebels know if and when a Patrol comes their way.

Raiders
Many of the Fafners in the Rebels are Raiders, those who follow the Commander when they sneak into a Noble residence to steal food or any other material good. But not all Rebel followers are Raiders as some are against thievery.

Rebels
Those within the Rebel group that are against raiding, or are simply physically incapable of doing so, take up another one of the normal Commoner ranks. They can act as Hunter, Harvester or Healer, but are typically known as a simple Rebel.
User ImageUser Image
Every Clan has staked a part of the island as its own territory, setting up their main village in the center of their claims, and the Patrols ensure that other Clans do not trespass on another’s land. But most Clans have become specialized in certain types of Hunting and Harvesting techniques because of the different regions they all reside in, therefore it’s uncommon for a Fafner to want to wander into another Clan’s territory.

Castle Andvarinaut
The castle is a large and intricate structure crafted of stone that houses the Royal family of Andvari. The castle is situated at the southern base of Gram’s Peak, directly at the center of the island and naturally fortified by the mountains around. The Royal family has no official territory as they control the entire island, and annual tithes are provided to them by the Noble of each Clan.

» Brynhild Clan
Directly west of Lake Brynhild, the clan has limited its territory to within the Sigurd Mountains, from just south of Lake Sinfjotli down to Gram’s Peak. Their western border is the River Signy, extending all the way east to where the River Brynhild joins the River Helgi. Because winters can be excessively cold, causing snow and ice to blanket the majority of their northern territory, the Brynhild Clan roams further south past Gram’s Peak during the colder months in order to find more food. Because of their confinement to the mountains, they have become highly adept at extracting even the smallest of nutrients and minerals from the rocks, as well as chasing small game across the unstable cliffs. They are the hardest and most toughened of the Clans, mostly due to the harsh environment they are forced to live in.

» Loki Clan
Nestled in the middle of the Loki Valley, the Loki Clan has the smallest territory of all because of the abundance of natural resources that can be found in the valley. While winters are usually extremely cold in the north, food is still easy to find as animals and plants are capable of surviving the warmer temperatures of the valley. Their boundaries extend beyond the valley itself, directly west and a few miles into the Sigurd Mountains, which the Loki Clan frequents for certain minerals. Although their territory also stretches into a small portion of the northern Regin Plains, the Clan rarely crosses the Attilla River unless they are suffering a particularly cold and hostile winter. They are the most easygoing of any Clan, as specific skills and high tolerance of different terrains are not necessary to survive in the prolific valley.

» Attila Clan
Positioned right at the southeastern shore of Lake Attila, the Clan has constant access to fresh water and as a result, they have become skilled at fishing in the lake. Their territory consists solely of the Regin Plains, from the area that lies directly east of the lake and all the way to the sea, and then the majority of the southern plains down to Lake Gunnar. The Attila Clan never ventures into the mountainous region as they prefer the wide space of the grasslands, breeding fast runners to chase small game across the open fields and specializing in digging up nutritious shoots of small vegetation. Their skill in freshwater fishing has also recently been adapted to the sea, frequently visiting the island’s coast to catch the larger saltwater marine prey. They are known for their speed as well as for their swimming abilities.

» Hreidmar Clan
Named because of their settlement to the west of Lake Sigmund and thus focus in the Hreidmar Forest, this Clan prefers to use stealth and surprise as the strength behind their Hunts. They are also quite fond of the fruits that grow on the luscious trees of the forest, quite skilled at climbing any trunk and branch. Their territory is mostly bound within the forest, encompassing the entire southern woodlands, and includes the small southern tail of the Sigmund Mountains. They rarely venture into the mountains, usually only doing so for fun. Overall, they are the more intelligent and contemplative of the Clans.

» Svanhild Clan
South of the Brynhild Mountains and West of the Attila Plains lies a stretch of desert where the most elusive Svanhild Clan lives. Their settlement lies just East of Lake Gudrun; however, since Lake Gudrun has a tendency to dry up during very hot summers, they often travel down Gundrun's lake, past the the intersection with Lake Gunner's River and up to Lake Gunner. However, they never stay there for long since the lake borders too close to the Attila Clan and makes them wary. Fafner of this Clan tend to be nomadic, withstanding, and very tolerant of drastic temperature changes. The Clan is tightly nit together and tend to keep to themselves as much as they can.

Rebels
Most of the Rebels originate from different Clans, coming together because of their similar beliefs for democracy. As criminals of the realm, they are not allowed to claim their own territory and thus, are forced to flee from the local Patrols. They mostly roam the northwestern coast of the island, nevering staying in one area for too long in case they are discovered by the Royal family, but they rarely venture towards the the northern Brynhild Mountains unless it's one of the warmer months and they have nowhere else to hide. Otherwise they are usually in the northern part of the Hreidmar Forest or near the Sinfiatli Lake and Marshes during spring and summer, staying in this area until winter passes.

Baby
A little ball of fluff, the Baby has no limbs and bounces around on its stomach. They are extremely vulnerable and can only make small sounds, rarely leaving their mother's protective side. Genders cannot be determined at this stage because males and females look exactly alike.

User Image

Child
At this stage, the Child has grown hair and limbs, thus are capable of leaving the shelter of the cave to be introduced to the rest of the Clan. Once they have become integrated into the Clan, the Child beings learning the culture and language of the Fafners. Their genders can now be determined as the males start sprouting small buds of horns.

User Image

Adult (Commoner)
Once they reach Adulthood, the Fafner leaves the side of its parents to pursue a profession and start its own family. By now they have full developed their incredible sense of hearing and even better sense of smell. They have also become completely independent and begin contributing to the Clan on their own.

User Image

Adult (Rebel)
Once a Fafner reaches Adulthood, they may choose to join the new rebellion established and led by Cerberus. They contribute to the uprising against the Nobles and either serve as providers for the rest of the Rebel companions, or as raiders of the Nobles' storages.

Once they reach Adulthood, Fafners can breed, usually taking one lifemate until the death of one. But there have been a few cases where mates separate and take new ones for the next breeding season, though such occurrences are rare and highly frowned upon in their society.

During breeding, the Commoner pair will leave the main village to find a secluded cave where there is a healthy amount of moisture and warmth. The male acts as the main provider for the family during the female's pregnancy and the following weaning period, but Clan members often support the new young by visiting the cave and leaving food for the female near the entrance. Because of the constant needs and attentions of the female during this time, only around two pairs will breed each season as the Clan cannot afford to have anymore of its members absent.

Babies will stay isolated with the female until they reach Childhood, and usually only the father will be able to catch glimpses of the Baby before this time. Fafner mothers are naturally intensely protective of their young in such a vulnerable state, only allowing their young to leave the safety of the cave when they have grown into Children. At this time, the family returns to the Clan and the Child is introduced to the rest of the members. Only when the Child grows into an Adult does he/she choose to pursue a specific profession, including whether or not to join the Rebels.

While following the same concept of bearing and raising the Child, Fafner Nobles do not move into caves but simply stay within their more spacious and protected residence during pregnancy and weaning. But like the Commoners, even a Noble mother is extremely protective of her Baby and will not allow the rest of the Clan to see her young until the Baby has reached Childhood. They also choose their path in life once they have grown into full Adults, although most continue living as a Noble to one day take over the Clan.

Commoner children automatically become Commoners. To become a Rebel, they must complete the Rebel Quest, which is heavily RP-required.

Rebel children automatically become Rebels once they become Adults, unless otherwise requested. Requests must be made with the Breeding order, or else there will be a 40k fee if requested later.

Commoner x Rebel children automatically become their mother's rank, unless otherwise requested. Requests must be made with the Breeding order, or else there will be a 40k fee if requested later.

Noble x non-Noble children will only grow into a Noble if Baby and/or Child is RPed, otherwise will automatically become the rank of the non-Noble parent (which may exhibit Noble characteristics). You may bribe the colorist to lift RP restrictions.

Noble x Noble children automatically goes through Noble lines unless otherwise specified.

ROXIN
The most common of the Minis, the Roxin can be found almost anywhere on the Isle because of their adaptability, normally living in closely-knit packs within specific territories. But they are also the ideal companion because they are extremely loyal and protective, making good playmates or even excellent guard dogs. Roxins are known for their excellent sense of smell and skills in tracking game. For this reason, it’s not uncommon for them to be trained to assist Hunters, especially since Roxins are natural predators in the wild.

LORRIN
Shy and timid creatures, the Lorrins can be found throughout the Attila Plains and occasionally in Hreidmar Forest. They are usually sweet-tempered and friendly, but can become defensive when threatened. Lorrins make good sentries since they are naturally attentive to their surroundings, standing up on their strong tails to look around for danger. Some Harvesters have even found use in the Lorrin’s ability to find the ripest fruits, as well as their skill in climbing up tall trees where Fafners cannot reach.

GELFIN
Gelfins are a common sight across the Brynhild Mountains, natural rock climbers that can run quickly over steep cliffs. They live in small herds that migrate south during the winter, though they possess thick insulated fur that protects from the cold of the high mountains. Gelfins aren’t the best “pets” since they are fairly independent creatures, and they can be considered a nuisance simply because they like to chew on everything within reach. Yet for one reason or another, some Fafners find Gelfins to be entertaining companions.

TORIN
An extremely dangerous predator, Torins are large felines known for preying on other Minis and even young Fafners. Although a rare sight, they are quite adaptable and can be found anywhere on the Isle, though more commonly seen in Hreidmar Forest. Few Fafners dare to try and tame these wild predators, since even domesticated Torins have been known to kill another Fafner’s young. But the few who have successfully learned to handle a Torin find that they can be surprisingly affectionate and even quite loyal.

SERPIN
One of the rarest Minis, Serpins actually originate from Niveus Island and can only be obtained from the Mini-Keeper Stelmaria (but nobody knows how she got them in the first place). Though not as large as the Torins, their aggressive nature and poisonous fangs make them even more deadly since they are prone to randomly attacking smaller creatures even if tamed, capable of quickly swallowing small Minis and even a newborn Fafner whole. But their natural prey are young Chupins, so they are especially despised by the Craftmakers.

FAERIN
Once thought to be a myth, Faerins are still a very rare sight and the few Fafners that have seen these elusive creatures have only caught a glimpse of a wing or tail. Not much is known about these winged reptiles since sightings have been random and dispersed, though the assumption is that they eat both fruits and insects. The few Fafners that are lucky enough to own a Faerin admit that these Minis are extremely independent and like to come and go on their own, but they seem to have a sense of loyalty since they always return when called.

AVIN

While an uncommon inhabitant of the Isle, the Avins can still be seen flying around frequently, especially when they migrate south during the winter. But they are one of the hardest Minis to tame since they only have an affinity for storytellers, constantly flocking to the Speakers. Avins love to sing and often accompany a Speaker’s story with melodies and even occasional sound effects. They are also quite intelligent and can learn to mimic a Fafner’s language, understanding enough small words and simple phrases to voice their thoughts.

Availability: Speaker only.

CHUPIN

Found only on Niveus Island, Chupins are only owned by Craftmakers as no one else knows how to reach the small island safely or even how to tame one these small creatures. Chupins are extremely intelligent and can learn to speak the Fafner language almost fluently, but their use comes from the fact that they have opposable thumbs. They can hold and use tools that Fafners cannot, an ability that is needed in Craftmaking. While very loyal and almost always seen following their Craftmakers around, Chupins can be shy and even defensive against strangers.

Availability: Craftmaker only.

"I love gold. :] Just for the record. I'm the all-powerful owner and everything listed above for this humble little shop. I'm also really busy lately so don't expect me to be on much or to be doing much. Patience is appreciated greatly. I do accept PMs (meaningful ones only please) so feel free to toss me any questions or concerns you have. I'm also on msn (get it from me via PM) if you want to stalk me. If I'm not answering I'm busy."

"I'm currently way behind on what Shikai has in store for this shop, but do feel free to ask me questions if Shikai doesn't answer because I can just poke her until she answers. Otherwise, I'm just here to color (and make Shikai's life difficult) because I can. =D"
