It's a lantern decorating competition!

Show us what your troll would do if given a plain white paper lantern, and an entire crafts table! Use whatever picture editing software you like, from paint to photoshop, and the template here (png) or here (psd) and either your own drawing talents, or the good old copy-pasta to give a rough approximation of the final result. Pop in a short explanation as to why the final masterpiece looks the way it does, and submit the result to this thread!

Lantern? Decorated!


Chiara chose a round lantern and added some black accents to the top and bottom. In the center she chose to put a lotus blossom. Lotus flowers emerge from the muck of ponds, blooming brilliant colors from the dark muddy pools they like to live in. Alternia is such a violent, dirty place. Backstabbing, fighting, and outright killing are commonplace on this big grey planet. Sometimes tho, some special troll blooms out of the murk, and makes this place worth living in. We put up with all the yuck, all the much and blood, becaouse trolls want to see the lotus blossoms that bloom out of this environment.

Maybe some-trolls think this planet is terrible, but it grows some truly beautiful flowers.

Amonee's lantern is carefully painted with two moons to celebrate the Harvest Moon Jubilee but also with some lovely flowers to make it more beautiful. Tiny stars decorate the night sky backdrop for a dreamy lantern full of moonlight, petals and grace. A gentle glow emits from this lantern as it paints everything around it shades of pink, blue and green.


What the heck? Cerpin's lantern doesn't seem to give off any light at all! It appears this flashy party rockstar has glued tons of mirrored squares onto his lantern base in order to create a fabulous disco lantern. It reflects the lights of the moons and other lanterns nicely but does not appear to let any of it's own light through. It is kinda heavy but totally glam.

Gnash sure likes arts and crafts! She dyed her lantern her blood color, and painted the rims a shiny gold. And then she dumped a bunch of pink glittery paint on top. After that dried, she used a handy dandy moon stencil shape to carefully paint cute black moons on top. Very festive!

Lorata just covers her lantern in purple and her symbol in moon colors!

Treide is rather unoriginal, and uses her blood color and her symbol onto the lantern! She also uses a really soft gradient on the base, for fun, and added some music notes. She likes it.

While also going a little bit overboard with the glitter, Elidae painted the lantern a similar shade to her blood color, doodling on a simple pattern to accent. Using tissue paper, she fabricated cute flowers to adorn the top with some beaded accessories just like fancy hair ornaments! The colored patches stitched to the lantern are the blood colors of those she considers close to her, the glimmering beacons of her life.

Nucleo would whip out a mason jar from his pack and use it for a lantern! He'd fill the bottom with some pretty beads in varying shades that compliment his blood color and plop a tea candle inside. He'd probably paint the glass to give it a nice tint as well. He doesn't have anything against paper lanterns though, and is totally planning to take some from the festival to put up in his shop! But a mason jar lantern represents him best when it comes down to things.



Tevini would require a bit of prompting to actually decorate a lantern, she doesn't see anything wrong with a plain white one after all. It's design functions fine already so she doesn't see how her decorations would improve it. After being convinced, she'd look for a way to attach meaning to it- and what better than her dream of building a spaceship and leaving Alternia? She'd attach fins to make the lantern look like a rocket and cut a hole out of it to simulate a window to see. Inside, she would create a clasp so she could attach a sparkler firework to dangle. As for the purple stars, they're to symbolize the hope Cerpin has given her to reach for the stars. He is shaping up to be a pretty good muse! In the end she'd light the sparkler so it'd look like a blast off!

Azrael had thought long and hard about what he'd wanted to do for his lantern. He started with an orange base and used water colors to make a scenery. When asked about the shapes he just shrugs, "The only ones who are important, the lines are my hero, the moons are the reason we're celebrating," and then there was a star? Well, it looked more or less like a bird with tails. "It's a star that wants to be a bird, that's me.... the ribbons are for troll horns," He held up his lantern, content with what he'd made.
