I have a question about the Tobi Race

It says you miss the obstacle if you roll a certain number, but then there's still the damage roll, does that still count if you missed the obstacle? It doesn't say if it does.

I think Mythee wrote the rules, so I'll quote her to check, but I interpret it as die 2 is how much damage you take only if you hit an obstacle or trap in die 1.
