Guild

You make your way into a dimly lit cavern in a remote location far from any towns or villages. The dampness sinks into your layers of clothing as echoing droplets, whispering-low growls, and the sound of shuffling feet can barely be heard from the depths of the cavern. You had heard rumor of strange and powerful beasts that live in the cave... and the few people who dwell in the darkness to take care of them.
The nature of these beasts is true mystery. Some say they're possessed feral creatures abandoned and left to rot through for centuries in the chilly abyss, others say they are demons creeping upwards from the underworld to claim the lives of lost travelers. Some say that these creatures can be called from a life of imprisonment to serve humanity.
As you journey farther and farther into the cave, you can see several figures calmly lounging within the shadows. Torchlight reveals two women sitting at a long oak table, one of raven hair and the other of an oddly bright magenta. The dark haired woman turns to greet you as you wearily approach, leaning her elbows on her pale knees. "Well hello! I suppose you're here to try and tame one of these wild creatures for your own? I can't think of any other reason for you to be here. Or are you lost? Either way, it takes one who is truly dedicated to calm and train such a beast as the banthi." You nod slowly, pretty much everything the weird lady had uttered might as well have been in another language. Unsure of what you're getting yourself into, you consider turning tail and leaving this awful place of mysticism. But before you could make a decision, you're stopped just as the magenta haired woman turns. Digging into a pile of rubble and dust behind her, she produces what appears to be a petrified limb - clawed talons digging into a dimly shimmering gem held firmly in place. "If you want one of these babies for yourself, you're gonna have to read the rules first." She gave an unsettling smirk and motioned her hand in a shooing gesture, tossing an extremely large, dusty and worn book onto the table. "Get reading!"

[Banthi Caverns]

The banthi have been a legend since time began, but like most legends, they are often forgotten. Rabid and Kitara both deeply believed these creatures still existed in Gaia's deep forests but lacked any proof. After having studied the banthi legends and myths for years, they both set out in search of them. They eventually arrived at an abandoned and secluded cave, the only clue to where the beasts once dwelled. Journeying farther into the cave than any human had ever before, Rabid and Kitara found old, petrified claw-like stands that held different colour gems. Convinced they had found the banthi, Rabid and Kitara started to make the cave home and spent several days trying to pry the gems from the claw's death grip. Luckily, the cave held more than just the gems... It held shelve upon shelve of old records of banthi legend and mystery. After reading all they could, Rabid performed the very first calling. Both were amazed when the stone claw shattered and the gem itself formed into a small, helpless banthi cub. After such, Kitara called her own gem and both began to raise the small beasts in the safety of the deep caverns, making sure to produce the best of the rare species.

This is the first stage or 'The Gem Stage'. This stage is where your banthi is still dormant inside it's gem-form. The stone claw that holds the gem itself was once the banthi's original body, but after death the body petrified itself and broke apart, remnants forming into a stone claw-like stand that supports the gem containing the banthi's soul or spirit, a physical manifestation of it. The size of this stage is about 14 inches tall. Not much is required to take care of this stage, just don't break it or anything.


This is the second stage, or 'The Cub' stage. Once your gem has been awakened and has broken away from the stone claw that imprisons it, this cute little thing will emerge from the gem. This stage is when the banthi depends on you the most. At it's cub stage, it will learn how to walk, eat solid food, and how to 'talk' telepathically with other banthi. At this stage, your banthi is about the size of a grown house cat and males are a bit bigger then females, which is usually the best way to tell the genders apart. Sadly, as most cases have proven, your banthi cannot communicate with you directly, it can only use its body language or other means of expressing itself.


The third stage of your banthi and no doubt the most troublesome! As an adolescent your banthi will start to show signs of it's gender: the males growing muscular with a pair of stubby gazelle-like horns and the females being more stocky with a long, flowing tail used for superb balancing acts. Both normally reach to your thigh at the shoulder, females of course still being smaller in size than males. At this stage your banthi will begin to explore the world outside of the cavern, hunt, and perhaps even start being interest in the opposite sex.


The final stage of growth, or 'The Adult Stage' is where your Banthi has reached the height of perfection! Now fully grown, Banthi can communicate telepathically quite well with others of their species. Your banthi has also reached its full height in growth, in which case males' shoulders reach up to mid-waist and females' reach to about the height of your hips. The result of this stage may be good or bad, it all depends on how well you treated and cared for it when it was a young cub. A neglected banthi may rise up against its owner... possibly causing damage to you or other banthi. However, documents have shown that a well-treated banthi will protect its keeper through thick and thin, never leaving their side. Who knows... you may even be able to communicate without words. It all depends on how strong you connect with it.

Roleplay can get a little confusing if you don't know the terrain! Most banthi are rather uneducated in the ways beyond their own territory. Unless, of course, they're a rogue and roam the land. The scale of the map is actually very small in comparison to the actual size. For instance, it would take an entire day of walking nonstop to get to the edge of the Feral Clan's territory. No one knows what kind of creatures are beyond their own territory and only foolish or brave banthi would venture beyond it... and not all will return.

Sometimes banthi need to work out their frustration by fighting one another or so they can climb the ranks and be considered a fit mate. Both male and female banthi are capable of battle, though it's more common for males to fight over a female or to be considered the 'alpha' of the pack. Not all banthi fight, it is understandable if they choose a more peaceful lifestyle.

Rules
- You must PM this mule requesting for your banthi to battle so it can be placed in a rank.
- We advise that your banthi battle only those of the same rank, but we will allow a battle between different ranks.
- Your banthi must have a reason to fight. Say, wanting to increase in rank, to defend or acquire a mate, or to settle a dispute.
- Both owners must agree OOC that they are willing to participate in the battle.
- You may NOT start a battle without Kitara's consent and a link to where it will take place.
- Once the battle is finished notify Kitara (PMing this mule will be the quickest way) and she will read over what happened to determine the winner and update ranks.
- Keep in mind that rank determines skill level. If your banthi is a novice, it would be unwise to challenge an alpha and expect to win.
- Please be literate and understandable.
- Be fair! I will not tolerate godmoding.
- If a problem arises, pause the RP and let me know via in-thread if I'm there, or by PM and I will resolve it.
- For old owners who had their banthi battle, all you have to do is PM me the same way and your banthi will be put in the rank it was in before. Points wise, it will get the minimum of the rank it's in.

Judging
Once you have notified me of the finished battle, I will read through the RP and decide who the winner shall be. Just because your banthi wins the round, doesn't mean it wins the battle. To win a battle your banthi must be cunning, experienced, and come out most unscathed. If your banthi wins, they will move up one rank. If your banthi loses, they will stay in the spot they were already in. If we think it's a tie, the owners can either agree for a rematch or neither of your banthi will move up or down in rank. The only exception is in the case of the Alpha rank, where the loser will have to step down from the rank to make way for the new Alpha.

The point system is rather simple; every time your banthi wins a battle it gains a point. Certain ranks required a number of points to get into, so work hard!

Non-battler Positions
Want your banthi to have something to work on without having to fight? No problem! Here is a list of the non-battling positions the Feral Clan currently has. Your banthi may be in these positions at any time once they reach adulthood, just send the mule a PM stating which banthi you want to be added to what class and it will be done! 3nodding Any banthi who battles may also be in one of these classes as well. But you may only excel in one of them.

Cub Sitter: A position for more nurturing, maternal banthi. If a gem awakens without a biological parent, or a cub just needs someone to watch over him, these are the banthi to call. They've got the eyes, energy, and the discipline to keep curious young cubs behaving and in-line.
Sentinel: The Feral Clan's eyes and ears, these are the banthi who prowl the boarders and make sure everything is running smoothly and in-check inside their territory. Any rogue banthi normally bump into these guys first, and either get a welcoming greeting, or a harsh paw on the snout.
Storyteller: Got an endless amount of tall tales to tell? Then sit around the fire and let them be heard! Storytellers are there for young and old banthi alike, sharing their tales to anyone who will take the time to listen.
Hunter: Banthi who prefer the outdoors rather than the indoors are likely to be hunters. With dark pelts and a call to the wild, these banthi are responsible for bringing food back to their clan. Some may travel alone and others may group into packs to take down larger prey.
Scout: Got wanderlust? Banthi who take the role of scout are the ones who live for the thrill of danger. They explore outside of the safe haven of the Feral Clan, exploring new areas and different clans. These banthi tend to be excellent endurance runners... you've got to be if you stumble into enemy territory and need to high-tail it out of there!

[Banthi Caverns]

While it is unknown if there are other banthi clans out in the thick wilderness with different owners and a totally different lifestyle, you cannot deny the possibility. Clans are run with a wolf-like order of society, there being one to five alphas that run one clan. The alphas of the clan keep order in their own particular way. Some will rule like a dictator, others with more of a democratic approach. Others will lean towards a violent path, ordering their clan to go and capture another territory while still some prefer to keep the peace and stay within their own society.

However, there is one thing that alphas have that none others do... a physical representation of their status. For example, Amon and Faizah have wings to symbolize their more calm and yet powerful approach to ruling their clan. When a banthi becomes an alpha of his own clan he will undergo a transformation, growing a new feature that he or she alone will possess.

Clans

The Feral Clan
The Feral clan is named for the majority of banthi inside the clan have animal-like and naturally coloured pelts, with the occasional exception. Run by none other than Amon and his sister Faizah, the two of them were the first to be awakened in the cold, dark cavern they called home and thus were automatically gifted with the strength and power to be alphas from the day they were awakened. The older sibling, Amon, is a large and powerful banthi... but a softy at heart. He would rather make jokes and nap all day than fight. His sister Faizah however is a different story. While still kind and gentle to her clanmates and family, there is a coldness about her that bores into you every time her light blue eyes cast a mean stare. She is regal and proper, often seen patrolling the boarder of her territory or settling disputes among her clanmates.


The Ahnleh Clan
Ahnleh, which means "Snakecharm" in the ancient language, was decided to be the name of the clan. As such, it helps to demonstrate that the majority of the members have some snake aspect. With the old clan long since gone, Raajmuat decided to take the challenge of reviving this once strong and proud clan. The clan has taken up residency in the mountains of the south, where a series of caves all connect to form the basis of their home in the mountains. In the center of all this is the temple where the statues stand. What sets this clan apart is that they worship three important deities: Kiesha'Ra, Nikhil, and Danuta. Besides their religion, the Ahnleh clan has customs, celebrations and values in which they try to uphold and to help set them apart from everyone else.


How to Become an Alpha
Becoming an alpha is hard work and takes a lot of dedication. Take it to heart when I say it takes a lot of roleplay to get your banthi the alpha status of his own clan. Banthi are born into an already existing clan and would leave for a number of reasons - but a novice banthi won't survive long on his own unless he knows what he's doing. I have no set amount of roleplay it takes for alpha status just yet, but if you think you've done enough then shoot the mule a PM with links to all related roleplays and a request. I'll look them over and if you have enough, then your banthi will be able to create it's own clan. Keep in mind your banthi will need proof that at least five other banthi are joining as well.

For the alpha mutation and it's own subforum in the guild however, it will include a fee. After reading all of your roleplay, I'll be able to determine how your banthi will run their clan enough to suggest a couple of mutations they could receive and the prices for each. From that you'll be able to pick which mutation you would like for you banthi.

Why do I give you a list to choose from instead of letting you pick your own, you ask? It's to keep things original. If you plan on wanting wings, or a mutation that has already been done then forget about it. It's to keep people from getting the same thing over and over. Don't worry though, we can think up some awesome mutations. twisted

Another way to become alpha is also to defeat a current one in battle after you've challenged them. An alpha challenge isn't the same as a spar battle, as the current alpha has to agree to step down before hand. If they loose... then they have no choice to step down. However, this will only give the new alpha the territory, and the rein of the clan's activities and how it's run. They do not acquire mutations and cannot rename the clan.

(Your banthi will only be added to a clan if it has made a journal in the guild. If you do not have a journal but wish to be part of a certain clan, feel free to PM this account stating so and which clan you want your banthi to join along with their certed image. All banthi not roleplayed at all are simply considered to not exist in the RP-world.)


How to Claim & Expand Territory
Now, once you're in an alpha status, you need some territory right? Not a problem! Once it's been made official and your banthi has it's mutation and subforum in the guild, you'll need to pick out a place on the map where your clan will reside. Now at first you'll get little to no territory since your clan is still small, but as your clan increases in size your territory will as well! To put in a request for your territory to increase, all you have to do is PM this account and give me proof that 10 or more NEW banthi have joined since the initial starting, or the last time you increased your territory. As for banthi who beat out an existing alpha, they are automatically given the territory... however, it's not that as easy to maintain as it sounds.

If your banthi is fully grown, it can start searching for a mate. Once your banthi has found it's significant other, they can choose to breed. The mating fee will consist of 5k per owner; 10k all together. The breeding pair contribute part of their own spiritual being to create a new gem in addition to the physical requirements, so same-sex breedings do work. 3nodding Banthi also mate for life and develop a very strong bond with one another. This also means that potential mates must be roleplayed out, no two-second hook-ups.

Breeding Information
- Breeding must be open to be able to have two banthi mate.
- Banthi will create 2-4 gems per breeding. The more fertile the more gems.
- The time it takes for the gems to be produced can range from a few days to a few weeks, it all depends on how busy the colourist is.
- Banthi mate for life and must stick by their partner.
- Banthi are limited to 4 litters for their own health and wellbeing.
- Each owner is only allowed to keep ONE gem per breeding, the rest can be given away or evented off.
- If you choose to event off your remaining gems, you are responsible for the event and ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PROFIT FROM IT. Free events only.
- Once all the gems have found homes, please PM the mule with a complete list of who got which, the genders, and the names.
- For two banthi to breed, their relationship must be carried out and seen via roleplay in either the guild, or in this thread.
- For old owners: if you're banthi is mated but their mate isn't coming back (make sure you check with them first), you are allowed to scrap their old mate and get a new one. Just PM us to let us know.
- Rabid and Tig work in different speeds and ways. Rabid's slots will allow you to pick your own gender, whilst Tig's will be picked for you.
- All gems must be claimed or have an event running for them within a week of being posted. If not, gems will be revoked and evented off as we see fit.

February was such a fun, busy month. X3 But now that the love in the air has faded and March has set on, we have even MORE planned. So many cubs will be growing over the course of March, and the referral contest will hopefully rake in a few more interested patrons. I can't express how much I love you guys for sticking around, even after we closed. I still can't believe that so many people came back! It really warms my heart to know that we kept you guys interested even after we left. <3

Among the referral contest, customs, and growths, March is another month that we'll be focusing on our efforts of getting more new, wonderful banthi out there. ^_^ An auction is in the works and will be one of the few COSPLAY auctions we hold. You heard right, cosplay. While we now discourage people from making human cosplays, this will be a good chance to show people what kind of cosplays we do allow. Based around one of the Final Fantasy games (I can't recall which), there will be five or so edited banthi up for auction. Both Rabid and Tig are really excited for it. X3
