Twin Hill's High School Purple Cougar Marching Band Newsletter:

Dear students and parents,

As you may know, the school year is fast approaching. This means it is time to stop enjoying the remainder of your summer and join us at band camp.

Band Camp will be held Monday August 3 to Wednesday August 12 from 6 am to 10 pm. Lunch and dinner breaks will be at noon-1pm and 5-6 pm, where students are free to leave our school campus but must be back by the end of break.

Students returning from previous years must bring their instruments. Instrument checkout for new students will be on August 3 at the lunch break, since most of our first few hours will be introductions and registration. If your returner did not check out an instrument before summer vacation, please contact me and i will have one ready on August 3 when they arrive.

Inside this letter I have included your students music for their particular instrument. Our theme this year is Pirates of the Carribean. Auditions for any solos will be during the dinner break on August 5. If music is lost, please report to me right away so i can replace your copy.

just a reminder, here is a list of some items you must have at band camp: water, flip folder, music, water, instrument, water, sunscreen, hat, water, light clothing, tennis shoes, water, sunglasses, and of course yourself. Don't forget the water!

This is going to be a great season. If we work hard, the Purple Cougar Marching Band will make number 1!

-I am god of this roleplay. I decide who gets kicked out, if they get kicked out. If you disobey one of my rules, I will give you a warning. Second time, you get a 2 week suspension, third time your out.

His hair is long down to his shoulders and black (But so light to sun exposure it's almost brown) with long bangs that are just above his eyes and they tend to sway to the left (His left). Acne covers his face slightly but he complains about it saying that he looks ugly. He always wears rectangular glasses that makes his face long but in truth it is small like most Asians. He looks really skinny but if you touch him he is really muscular.
Personality:Ryan is really nice to everyone but that is his weakness. Some people have given him the rumor that he is a player because when a girl asks him out he always says yes because he doesn't want to hurt him but some time in the relationship he dumps them saying he's sorry for leading them on. Still girls always fall for him anyway and he says he's a bad person for it. He is very social and it's hard not to make friends with him he could be somewhat considered poular and is pretty known around school. If you are close to him and you hurt him he tends to take it hard but he tries not to show it. He is a real nerd and has passes a lot of the required high school classes in junior school. He also made all state every year and the school's advance band and is normally liked by all his teachers.(especially band directors hmmm I wonder why) He wants to stay in school all the way till senior year to 'enjoy his childhood'.

Although it was normally a requirement to learn to play every instrument she never learned to play the drums so that is costing her spot in percussion but if she gets out she isn't on everyone else's level on flute)
Appearance:Echo is the shortest person in the band. She stands at a towering 4'11" Just under 5 feet which makes her a midget in areas of the world. She has long black hair that comes down to her waist. Her eyes are small and black like endless pits and she wears black thick rimmed glasses. Although her height comes from her legs it's hard to tell because she is so small. She is extremely skinny but she says that she is fat because she doesn't exercise a lot. She used to have really bad acne but when she started to take medicine it went away and she has a near flawless face.
Personality:Her personality makes her a normal band student. Weird. A lot of the times she is really hyper and happy seeming but when you get close to her and hear what she's saying it's normally something bad. Because of her height she likes to take advantage and act like a young person. She suffers from depression that goes on and off but she won't go to the doctor for it because she fear the side effects.
band family:She used to have a brother that used to be top flutist until he took up oboe and became top at that but when he got to his high school years he quit band. He is currently a junior art freak.

Iana looked around the band room. Not many people had arrived. She was filled with conflicting emotions; nervousness, curiosity and excitement.
"Mrs. Harris isn't here yet." Faith poined out. Iana nodded, twirling the key on her finger. All drum majors were trusted with a copy of the band room key, for when the band director wasn't there to open doors or gates. the key also worked for the gates to the stadium adn practice fields.
"That is why I had to open the door." Iana pointed out teasingly. Faith rolled her eyes,s itting in the clarinet area of the band room and pulling otu her case.
"Do you think we will need our instruemtns right away?" She asked. Iana looked at her with a raised eyebrow.
"We are starting with introductions." She pointed out, glancing at her watch. 5:45. Where is everybody?

"Doesn't band camp start today?" Heather looked up with a yawn.
"band camp? What band camp?" Then she realized what day it was. August 3rd. Band camp did start today. She looked at her clock. 5:45 am. I'm late! i hope the drum majors got their keys! She jumped out of bed and quickly threw on some clothes and grabbed a cup of coffee.
"You going to eat something?" Her husband asked, joining her with a yawn and a stretch.
"No time. I'll run out and grab somethign at lunch." She barely finished before she was out the door and in the car, turning the key in the ignition. the small Versa started easily, and she backed out of her driveway. Maybe I can still make it before 6.

Kara burst through the doors of the band hall. "Sorry I'm late! Please don't demote me! Ryan didn't have ride again so I had to turn around to get him or he wouldn't make it to the leader meeting with the ride he did have and now we both are late." Kara kept talking fast. In fact it was probably the most he had ever seen her talk.
Ryan tapped her on the shoulder. "Hey Kara. No ones here." he said laughing.
Kara looked around noticing her mistake. She blushed a deep shade of red, "Sorry you had to see that Iana."
Ryan pushed the hair out of his face and walked over to the Saxophone section to start putting together his instrument, leaving Kara alone to stand in the doorway.

Echo stood in front of the big towering building that was now her new school. Just this morning her dad decided to check his e-mail.
" 'Oh you have band practice today'." She mumbled grumpily to herself, "Then he just drops me off and I don't know where I am. Not only that I have to ask for music and which part I'm going to be playing. I don't even know what I'm playing."
She looked down at her flute case and mallet bag. Both of which she hadn't gotten any practice with because of moving. I guess if I just stand here I'm never going to find out. She grabbed her stuff and pushed through the doors deciding to wander the halls until she got where she needed to be.

(Well, better to jut kind of wiing it until we do get more people. No point letting it just sit there. Haha.)

Iana laughed lightly.
"Hello to you too, Kara. You aren't that late. It is still kind of earlly. And Mrs. Harris isn't here yet, so your fine." She laughed again.


"Hey, I thought I heard another car door not long after you two walked in. Was anybody else out thee?" Faith asked.

"I-I don't think so." Kara scurried over to Iana and asked her softly, "Did we already get a section sheet or will that be after introductions? Do they know if we are getting the drill soon?"
"Ah! Introductions?!" Kara didn't notice Ryan leaning in on their conversation. He looked down at his already assembled Saxophone and started to laugh. "I guess I forgot." he said and started to play his part of last year's marching show.
Introductions were one of the the worst part of summer band for Kara. She had to get up in front of everybody and introduce herself because she was a drill instructor. She enjoyed her position but those things made her hate it.
"When will Mrs. Harris getting here? I've got tickets... for the band... to see the symphony play Friday. I have tickets for the 8:00 one and the 11:00 one depending on what works better for band." She blushed. She was also trying to say that she wouldn't be able to make it to practice on Friday afternoon but she couldn't say it.

Echo sighed. It didn't look like she was going to find the band hall. She wandered around outside the outside of the building and came across a track field. Although most people hated running it was fun to her. Running made you feel so free.
Although it was defiantly not the best idea a couple of minutes before band practice she set down her things and began to run.

"Friday Kara? Don't we have band camp that day too?" Iana asked. "And I'm not sure. Even Mrs. Harris is rarely this late." She added.

The music was blasting in Heather's versa, the same music they would be playing in her band. She had bought the Pirates of the Carribean soundtrack not long after she decided on the show. She was excited, and guessed her students would be too.

[Tastless]

"I'm sorry." Kara said trembling, "I told my dad that this year was an important year but he said I'd say that for next year too and I'd never be dedicated! I already have my music memorized... And if there are other people doing the drill slready it's easier to learn."
Ryan walked back over to his two upperclassmen as he was crossing the room, "Wow, Iana. You can really get her to talk. I'm bored so I'll be wandering around. Tell me when people get here."
Ryan walked out of the hall in search of something to do. He traveled to a practice room with a piano and started to play. "Ha! I remember the notes." he said remembering his old piano lessons. But he wasn't that good either.

Echo heard music blaring. She slowed down to from her run to a slow walk and noticed how much she was sweating and panting. Did she run that much? As she sat down by her things she llooked at her situation.
What was she going to eat? How was she going to get home? Was that Pirates of the Carribean? There's not time for that now!
Echo picked up her stuff and started walking the direction she assumed her was towards home and started to walk. After all, what is a walk home when she just ran around a track for no reason.

Heather finally turned into the parking lot. she noticed a girl beginning to walk away, and pulled up next to her. The girl had a flute case, as well as a mallet bag.
"Hello. Are you here for band camp?" She asked politely.

Iana laughed slightly at Ryan's remark.
"Its alright. I'm sure Mrs. Harris will understand. if you want, i can tell her for you." She suggested, turnign to Kara. A light rumble of music from their show could be heard outside.

Echo looked up at the older lady. "Yeah. I-I mean yes I am mam'."
How did she know that, Echo thought but then she remembered her flute case.
"I wasn't sure where the band hall was but when I noticed there was no one here and it was close to the time I thought I got the date wrong."

"Mrs. Harris is here?" Ryan said. Kara jumped when she noticed him not come back into the room. He had came out shortly after going in realizing going up the scales on a piano did him nothing. "Good because I already lost my music."

(Haha, k. I just realized my printer isn't working, and I have to have a typed rough draft in my english class tomorrow on an explanatory essay about whatever we wanted. naturally, i did mine on marching band.)

"I've never seen you before. Are you the new girl I was told about by the frnt office? if so, I'm glad to see you got my email on time. i was worried you wouldn't get it before band camp started." She smiled and pointed in the direction of the band room. "tha is where the band room is. I'll be over in a second to show youe xactly where." With that, she put her car into everse and made her way to her parking spot. After her first year as the band director, a group of seniors had gone out and written her name on the parking spot, making it hers. It was rare for someone to park in her spot, but it happened occasionally by parents who didn't know. she enver made a big deal of it.

"Mrs. Harris probably has some stuff she needs brought in. I'm sure she could use our help." Iana tried not to sound like she was ordering them to do it. She wanted them to do it because they wanted to help, not because she told them to.
"I'll help!" Faith announced enthusiastically.

"Then this is a good time for me to slip out." said Ryan as he ran to practice room. Normally he wouldn't have done this but him being the only guy here he had a feeling one of them was going to make him carry it all.
Kara noticed she was being left behind and picked up her pace, "I-I'll help." she said softly as they exited through the doors.

Echo stood where she was for a while, wondering if she should go the the band room or to stay here and help her with things. It would probably not be the best for her to help with her things in hand so she made her way toward the building.
On her way there she saw 3 people walking her way. What was she going to do. "Ummm. Good morning!" she said bowing.
Echo could feel her face growing red. BAD IDEA! ran throught her head, What are you Japanese? No! You're Taiwanese.

Iana laughed as ryan ran off before turning to the girl she had never seen before. She seemed nervous.
"Hi. Are you new here?" She asked. She looked like a freshman, but Iana knew all the eighth graders in the area since she had always participated in rucruitment trips to the middle schools. "I'm Iana, drum major." She introduced. "This is my little sister, Faith." Iana caught sight of mrs. Harris attempting to carry a large load of instruments and boxes. "Do you need help Mrs. harris?" She called. Mrs. harris mumbled something. Iana gave the girl a look of apology, since she hated running off on someone. She ran and grabbed a few instruemnt cases.
