Introduction:
Hello Gaia,
I would like to propose an adventure-type role-play involving zombies, and the ever-feared apocalypse. The idea would be to bring about the realistic and surreal problems of a massive virus pandemic that caused its victims to become zombies. (not-so-fun-fact: A six year old child in Mexico who had caught the H1N1 virus (swine flu, as it is commonly known) died for three hours, then came back to life and lunged at his own mother in rage.) What would we do if that happened? Would we run to the mall? The country? A farm? Maybe even a large local food/gun retailer. Maybe we would defend ourselves in the basement of our house. Maybe we would go out trying to kill any and all zombies in sight with a sword. Who knows, so, let's find out. The basic point of the proposed RP would be to have fun, and also work out the problems of such an event.
The storyline for this role-play is based in the not-too-distant future of the year 2013. The world has advanced and continued on its expected path. National problems were stabilizing and overall the world was moving onward, without hindrance, into the next technological age. Some people said the world was going to end in 2012. Some people thought that divine intervention would bring judgment upon the planet. Some thought that an asteroid would annihilate life from the planet. But it wasn't the big things that we should have worried about. It was something so that you can't see it with the naked eye. A cell. A rapidly evolving, constantly changing cell that expands and multiplies, at the use of its host. We know this cell as "swine flu". With an ever-changing appearance, our bodies are built to fight the good fight against it and win. But what happens when a cell outsmarts a human?
The H1Z1 virus was not the first of its kind. There had been other reports of diseases that turned their host into an incubation factory, at the unfortunate cost of the host's life. But it was the first that took complete control of the actions and mindset of its victims. The virus learned how to tell humans what to do, make the spread of its own plague their top priority. The first few victims this virus took was in the condensed ghettos of New York, where the perfect breeding ground set the stage for its rapid evolution. The virus rapidly spread like a plague, taking any human life that came close. The hosts of the virus helped spread the virus into more densely populated areas, until the entire coastline of America was under the threat of this virus. The virus could spread easily from a bite, infected blood contact to an open wound, having infected blood enter your mouth or even your eye.
The H1Z1 virus seemed unstoppable. Zombies never tired of chasing their targets, never tired of beating them and biting and never stopped in their rage. Armies fought bravely against it, nations tried to stop it and people began to think that the end had finally come. Now the world has become a quiet wasteland. The bright lights seen from space now dimmed and the human race seems to have disappeared. But on the dark city streets roams vile creatures, flesh torn and rotting, their moans carrying through the wind and night. These things are the after-effects of the H1Z1 virus, commonly called "Zombies". They care only for the spread of the virus they carry, and care little of pain or suffering. The proud cities humanity once owned are now nothing but desolate concrete jungles.
You make up the 0.06% of the world's population that has been smart or strong enough to evade the virus during the whole conflict with it. You have survived to this day, without being mauled or shot to death. Feel lucky. But keep in mind, the virus is constantly changing and looking for new ways to bring you under its influence. Now, you must find a way to survive. That's what humanity has been known for, after all; survival. It has been six months since the infection hit America. Your ultimate goal doing anything in life is to ensure your own survival for as long as you can, and now it has only gotten harder. You reside in the ruins of a city and must find a way to live, by avoiding, killing or escaping the zombies that roam the streets and buildings. Welcome to the Apocalypse. Use bullets, brains or brawn to survive.
