'Cause I know that time has numbered my days
And I'll go along with everything you say
But I'll ride home laughing, look at me now
The walls of my town, they come crumbling down

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Maura became initially stiff towards his stare down as he examined her but judging from his casual observation she relaxed. She had initiated this after all. The blonde's smile grew a little as he said the word 'interesting' and pulled her close. Well that threw her off guard. A bit closer, the girl felt her face turn pink at the suddenness which surprised her. So she did have a feminine side to her. Well could you really blame her though? The girl was quickly brought out of her thoughts though as he remarked her ordinary appearance. Was that necessary? A twinge of anger surged through her at his bluntness but she did her best to hold her tongue. "I apologize my appearance does not mean your expectations your greatness." she retorted doing her best to make it sound sincere.

A light kick to her ankles made Maura squeak as she glanced at her father behind her. The large glare meant she should have just shut up. Hey if he was going to be blunt then so was she. Playfully sticking out her tongue towards the older man the girl quickly drew her attention back towards the god. He took a step back and his eyes were challenging. Well this could be fun she supposed. The grand gesture of his arms as he gestured to himself made her blue eyes roll. He certainly did think highly of himself. Giving one sweep over him Maura dramatically rested her hand on her chin as if to seem completely serious of the task. A light smirk played across her lips as she made her calculations. Final consensus. He was gorgeous. It bugged her that he was so attractive but she supposed that was just part of being a god. Though she would rather eat her own foot then tell him that after his analysis of her. That's when it came to her. His larger then life display couldn't cover up one thing. "I do believe that you are much more humanistic then I expected. Though your entrance was very entertaining. Definitely a great trick indeed."

Maura nodded at her words, finding the truth in them and her smile became more inviting then challenging again. Judging by the sound of the sigh that echoed behind her the girl could tell her father was slowly regretting his choice in letting her do this. The god asked for an answer so she gave him one.

Kelios bit back a laugh at the girl's reply. She was certainly an intriguing one. She had an unexpected sense of playfulness to her, and she had met his challenge with honesty. He had initially pedicted that she would comment on his appearance, as most would, and though she hadn't done so he was surprised that her answer was just as endearing. Even the way she had gone about taking him in gave him a feeling that she would prove to be both a challenge and a delight to have around.

"A trick?" he laughed, "Hmm, this will be fun." He matched her smile with his own. He would have to work on showing her just how much he was capable of, perhaps she would find him less entertaining and more awe-inspiring. Still, he was not an easy god to offend.

Kelios then turned his attention to the older man. "I accept your sacrifice, as unconventional as she may be. I claim this amusing girl; your village is safe."

He reached for her hand, enclosing it in his own. "Time to go, little bride," he said, just as water began trickling towards them from the ocean. In a sudden burst, a torrent rushed towards them, and he pulled her with him into the whirlpool that had formed almost instantly. As the waters whisked them up into the air, he pulled her close to his chest, wrapping his strong arms around her so as not to lose her in the current. The liquid had carried them to the heavens in a matter of seconds, and they landed softly at the entrance to the shared mansion of the gods. The substancial amount of water that had been their transportation dissappated at their arrival.

He released her from his embrace to push the massive doors open. "Welcome home."

Seryth watched the goddess with interest when she healed his burn, the pain leaving instantaneously. He stared down at his hand, impressed with her healing ability. She was obviously too self critical when she said she was only capable of destruction. He wondered how much suffering she could have prevented back in his village, how many lives she could have saved. It only made him more angry to think about how much good her ability would do, and here she was critisizing it.

    Selfish goddess.

When she stood, looking around for her towel immodestly, he averted his eyes. He had caught a glimpse of her ample curves, but stopped himself from appreciating her beauty. Still he couldn't fill his thoughts with Emily as it only made him feel like he was betraying her further. He had to get this over with as quickly as possible. He needed to get back to her and away from the beautiful yet self serving goddess.

He studied a cabinet in the corner as she spoke, following her words absent mindedly. He almost cursed when she said they weren't going to have sex that day. How long would he have to put up with this situation? Here she walked around nude and had spoken of getting himback to Emily, but was putting off the act itself? He bit back his complaints.

He rolled his eyes at her comment, knowing already how blunt she was. She seemed to have a habit of talking to much. At her question, he turned, his eyes moving up and down her beautiful curves and taking in her alluring features. "Stunning, my lady," he answered truthfully, no matter how painful it was to admit.

"Don't piss me off or you might just get burned.

"Thank you very much." She said with a soft smile as she studied him for a moment before she turned around and looked at herself in the mirror once more. Shrugging softly, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath before she walked out of the bathroom and down the hall to the kitchen and looked at the fridge. There was a date on the door and she sighed as she knew exactly what that date meant.

"Looks like I get to visit them today." She said softly as she walked out of the kitchen and back into her room and opened a draw that had two fire flowers and she smiled softly as she grabbed them and walked over to open the porch door and walked onto the clouds and towards the back of her home where she had two headstones with her parents names on them. Stopping in front of the tombstones, she sat down and placed the flowers in front of the tombstones. Her parents did not die in her backyard, they died elsewhere and she did not want to remember that day. Her eyes soften some as she closed her eyes and said a soft prayer before standing up and walking away from the tombstones.

This was a main reason why she didn't want to leaved her home. Every year on that day, she stays in her room curled up in a ball, depressed and just not herself. She even cries for a while and that's something that she really wanted to do. Kiara didn't realize that tears were slowly flowing down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away as she tried to straighten up as she walked back into her home. Maybe she should just cry for a while. "I can do this. I will not show a sign of weakness." She told herself as she tried to pump herself up as she laid down on her bed curled up in a ball. "Interesting day it is." She said softly as she looked around the room before she looked up at the ceiling. Kiara just wasn't in the mood to socialize anymore but she knew that sooner or later they have to arrive at the mansion. She just will choose later rather than sooner. "Ill pack my clothes I guess." She said as she got ot of her bed and walked into her closet and looked around. All she had was dresses. Short dresses, long dresses, one strap or no strap dresses. Kimonos long and short and heels of all sort. Touching her mothers necklace, it glowed brightly as she looked around the closet.

Maura's sassy commentary seemed to please the god instead of offend him. Well that was new. Usually she would be scolded or yelled at for such a disrespectful insight, but then again he did ask her to be honest. The girl beamed as he laughed and found that though he may have been a over the top that it could possibly be interesting. She simply nodded as he said it would be fun. She couldn't agree more. As she watched the conversation shift from from her to her father though she felt the small twinge of annoyance as he called her unconventional. But to make matters worse her father was practically crying laughing at the comment. Partially relief and the part out of humor. She simplyt gave him a knowing look to which he simply nodded before turning his attention back to the god.

Maura was lost in thought as she felt a twinge of excitement and anxiety and nervously bit her lip. It was then though that the words 'little bride' conversation. Little. No one had called her that since she was a child. It was nice. Now granted this was from a god and yet he was much taller then her. There would be perks to this she supposed. The blonde was so lost in these thoughts that she didn't even notice Kelios grab her hand or the water coming close until the burst. A surprised squeak escaped her lips as she held on as tight as possible to the god. "Water may be your element but if you drop me so help me my ghost will come back and haunt you for the rest of your life, god or not." she yelled. The girl practically felt her heart leap out of her chest until they arrived the few seconds later. Well at least it was short.

Maura liked adventures and that was definitely one for the books but a little warning would have been nice. 'Time to go' didn't really count. As the god left her to open the doors the girl collapsed on her knees. Heart pounding, eyes wide, and practically out of breathe the girl's fear turned into excitement. "That was...Amazing! Never in my life have I had such a rush!" The exclamation was mostly for herself but still expressed towards her fiance. Still breathing deeply the girl got up and moved a piece of stray hair behind her ear. Her new home...it was...wow.

With a small smile, Kelios looked back at the blonde, who had since collpased to her knees after their ride. He chuckled, inclining his head to the side as he looked at her curiously after her comment. "Time to get used to it," was his simple reply. If she was to be around him for any length of time, she would have to grow accustomed to his frequently used abilities.

He turned back towards their new home, and he observed the mansion critically. It was so large it could be considered more of a palace than a mansion, and the entire building was made of marble, reminiscent of old Roman an Greek temples. It had many great columns on the outside but on the inside there was only a few for support. In the center a massive double staircase lined with red carpetting lead to two seperate sides of the mansion, and they continued to split afterward. Each lead to a seperate wing of the house meant for the gods and their new brides. As for the other doorways, he wasn't aware of what they were for, but assumed they would find out eventually. At the very least there would be a dining hall and a lounge.

The walls were decorated with extravagent gold and gemstones, and there were several intricately crafted sculptures of marble and bronze to further show the wealth of the building.

"Typical," he shrugged. The homes of gods and goddess he had visited were mostly similar to this one. He personally prefered something a bit more open like his own home, with walls of glass and translucent concrete. His home was surrounded by clear waters, a large waterfall being the accent of his backyard. He hoped that he would have the opportunity to show his bride his own home rather than this extravagent yet enclosed palace.

As if only remembering his bride then, he turned to her, motioning for her to follow him inside.

"I suppose this is a bit more lavish than you're used to, hm? What do you think? Feel free to take a look around."

Maura rolled her eyes at his comment and simply stuck out her tongue childishly before giggling. It was quiet but still rang through the silence of the building. Clasping her hands behind her back the blonde slowly walked towards her home. Her eyes sparkled as she examined its structure. It was quite grand and nothing less of godly in her opinion. It was so different from her homeland. The ground was so solid and stable and no amount of wind or water could bring it down. Interesting.

Maura was surprised as the god simply said 'typical' while examining it. Typical? It was so different and new even if she grew up in something like this would she ever be able to really comprehend it. :Typical? This is typical?! You certainly are an interesting fellow Mr. god of water." The girl rested her arms on her hips and playfully smirked before turning her attention back towards the task at hand. Time to explore. First thing was first. Blue eyes peered down at her feet as she wiggled in the leather fabric. Well this just wouldn't do.

Clumsily, Maura removed her shoes and neatly placed them to the side inside the doorway. "Ah, much better!" she remarked before really feeling around on the marble. A mixture of coldness and smooth material made her shiver before a curious grin became her expression. Doing a light spin the girl clapped her hands at the easiness of the movement before taking in the rest of the building. She really was an odd one. The staircase and doors came next in her vision. So much exploration in store. "This place is so large I don't even know where to begin to go. Any suggestions?" The blonde turned on her heels towards her fiance and cocked her head to the side in curiosity.

Seryth wasn't sure what to do when the Goddess abandoned him in her own home. Was he supposed to go after her? Follow like some sort of puppy and when she'd left the room, Seryth let out a long sigh and ran his hands through his black hair, mussing it in the process. He didn't know what to do He thought that it would be straight forward, she'd use him and then once she was pregnant that would be it. He didn't think that she would want to prolong it and have to spend more time with a 'lowly' human then she had to. Afterall, it wasn't as if she'd shown any interest in her people before this. Why was she toying with him now?

Moving back out onto the balcony, Seryth leaned his elbows on the railing and stared at the world around him. Maybe that was exactly what she was doing, toying with him. Trying to make him react to her. Maybe she didn't want this at all and was just going through the motions for the sake of the other Gods. Maybe it would irritate others that she didn't get pregnant. After all, fire was strong and unpredictable and could be extremely vengeful. It made sense that the Fire Goddess would be the same. He found his mind drifting away from the Goddess for the moment though as he stared down at what seemed to be his home so far away. He couldn't make anything out, just the general black ash of the land but somehow, he knew that Em was looking too. The smile that had formed on his face seemed to fall however when he heard the Goddess return and sent a look over his shoulder to see her laying in bed.

He fought from shaking his head and with a sigh, stared for one more moment down at the earth beneath them before he pushed away, moving to lean against the doorway to her closet. He was astonished with how many clothes she had. All of them were bright, colors that humans couldn't even name and with jewels, gems and all sorts of adornments. Most of the women in his village had three, maybe for gowns and nothing compared to this and again, Seryth found himself frowning. She had so much. Clearing his throat, he dropped his eyes to a pair of shoes near his feet, nudging them gently with his toes. "Is there anything that I can do, milady?"

A loud laugh left the Earth God's lips as he ran between the trees in his homeland. They were thick, lush and so green that he felt his heart lift at the sight. There was nothing more beautiful then his nature. He left trails of soft yellow flowers from beneath his feet and with another carefree laugh, launched himself into a clearing, ending in a cartwheel to stand in the middle of the beautiful expanse, his arms out wide.

"So beautiful." He hummed to himself and waving his thin arms, started adding to the nature surrounding him, a tree at first, then a small bed of flowers to accompany it and with a sigh, wrapped his arms about the trunk of the tree, rubbing his cheek against it happily. "Good luck, my friend. Grow and be strong, I promise to look after you." he whispered against the bark, giving it another squeeze before slipping away again to continue his daily run throughout the woods. Everywhere he touched sparked new and green life, rejuvenating the world that had for too long been wilted and barren. It physically hurt him, practically breaking his heart when he ventured outside of his home and saw the damage that his kind had done. That was the main reason that he'd come to the earth was to help it heal, help it once more restore it's beautiful glory. He really didn't care for the politics, all he wanted was harmony with nature.

Suddenly, his bare feet came to a halt as his bright eyes caught on a small bush that had obviously been kicked through in some careless human's path. With a gasp, he moved over slowly, his feet padding cautiously before he knelt before it, the sight overwhelming him. "Oh.. oh no." he murmured as his hands went to softly cup the sides of the bush, his eyes closing and his head bowing. "Be no more in pain, friend. Let, Everly take care of you now. There there.." He coaxed the bush and slowly, the branches began to mend, the leaves to bud with a bright green glow and soon enough, Everly sat back on his heels to stare at his work happily.

"Much better." He sighed, his fingers going to tweak this leaf and that. Humanity didn't deserve his beautiful friends if they didn't treat them with proper respect. They should be reverent after what had happened but his trees were cut down, his forests stripped of their seedlings. Humanity were truly--

"Oh... oh pinecones." Everly swore under his breath as he stood again. He'd forgotten. He was to pick up his bride today and to plant his seedlings within her. He had been running that way when he was distracted by his magnificent surroundings. Shaking his head, he adjusted his course and hopped between trees to the small village, perching on a high branch of one when he got there to stare at the village bellow. He didn't trust people and his eyes narrowed as he tried to search out who would be his partner. He didn't care much if she was beautiful, all he could ask was a nurturing and fertile soul who could trust him and appreciate his work. Afterall, Everly though odd was quite easy to get along with, he only hoped she approved of him, as well.

"Don't piss me off or you might just get burned.

Kiara had zoned out a little and he had interrupted her, turning her head to look at him, she smiled softly. "No, no I'm fine. Thank you." She said as her voice sounded a little sad but she turned around from him before he could see her face. Humming a song, she picked up a pair of heels, and a bag and put them in a bag. She picked up a couple more heels and put them in a bag as well. Walking over to where her favorite red short kimono was, she picked it up and another bag as she folded it and put that in a bag as well. She remained quiet for a while just softly humming as she packed her things. Kiara was mentally telling herself to think happy thoughts and smile a little.

Before long, she had packed all of her bags and she smiled happily even though it was a fake. "There, I'm all packed. Didnt take that long." She said softly as she sat down at the bench that was in her closet. "Are you really that mad at me that you cant even look at me?" She asked him in a curious voice before she stood up and walked over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder. You must hate me for doing this to you. I really dont blame you for hating me." She said before she dropped her hand from his shoulder and walked back into her bedroom and sitting on her bed.

Humming softly, she closed her eyes as her hair begin to glow as she begin to meditate. It something she always do when she feels as though she was going to explode with emotions. If she does explode with emotions then the volcano will activate and spill into the town, killing all of her followers. That was the last thing that she wanted to do. Once she was finished humming, she opened her eyes and stood up stretching with a bright smile on her face. She was feeling like her old self again but she wasnt going to do much talking for a while.

Kelios grinned at the girl's response. He was certainly glad that she found him as interesting as he found her, but obviously for different reasons. He wondered vaguely why she decided to remove her shoes, but judging by the situation she was used to living in he decided it was simply one of those strange human customs. Most of the gods, including himself didn't bother to even wear coverings on their feet, whether human like shoes or otherwise. He wondered if he should tell her not to bother with them anymore.

He continued to watch her as she looked around, even doing a little twirl. He couldn't help but smile at her spirited enjoyment. Kelios recognized in her so many of the things that he admired about humanity, but rarely saw. Humans were often too weighed down by jealousy, greed, anger, and any number of other negetive emotions to really see the opportunity in situations. However, it pleased him to see their delight when good things did happen. He had a great feeling of optimism in this girl. Optimism and a certain backwater charm.

He wandered towards the staircase. "You may call me Kelios. And I suggest we find the wing of this building that belongs to us," he replied. He extended his hand towards her, nodding for her to take it.

Cicely

My feet took a walk in heavenly grass.
All day while the sky shone clear as glass..

Cicely looks at herself in the mirror and can't help, but think that something isn't right. She knows it has to be something with her hair. Not that she is materialistic or narcissistic. Actually she is kinda far from it. Must be the nerves or something. She stands up and looks at Alexandra when she see's the eagle feather. That's it! That is what she forgot. She goes to the feather and sits down."Alexandra. Will you please braid this in my hair? I just like it and it would go with my leather bracelet that Derrick wanted me to wear always." Alexandra looks at her in confusion but does what Cicely says. It isn't everyday that her sister is to be a bride. Cicely's hands start to shake out of nervousness and she gets up when Alexandra is done. She hugs her sister and smiles."Take care, little swan." She places a gentle kiss on top of her sisters head and walks out with sandals in hand. She has no idea if she is supposed to go to the temple or not. She only knows the time is drawing near.

She walks out on her doorstep and the priest of the village walks up to her. He places his hand on her shoulder and smiles at her. " Dear Cicely. You are about to be offered to the earth god. Are you ready?" Cicely takes a deep breath and feels that knot of dread fill her being. She nods as she isn't sure that she can speak. She is wearing a simple green gown with leather strings crisscrossing along her arms. Her brunette hair lies along her back and two tiny braids which meet and then are braided together. Overall, her appearance is rather simple which she loves. The priest looks at her and smiles." Your nervous...don't be. Come maybe a walk will do you good." Cicely see's her father walk up and takes her arm and loops it in his. He doesn't say anything except leads her out of the village and under the tree which an unknown presence watches. They pass that tree and go to the stream where a willow tree waits. The priest leaves them and walks a distance away just watching.

Her father and Cicely looks at the stream and then her father breaks the silence."My girl, your mother would be so proud of you. You've taken care of your siblings and I for so long. I'll miss you, but you need to get away and start your own nest." He looks at the willow tree and walks to one of the branches and the strands of leaves. His fingers runs over the leaves silently as he turns to look at his daughter." You will make a good wife as you have made a good caretaker for your siblings. I only hope he treats you like gold for you are precious. Now come say goodbye." Cicely can feel herself tearing up and she goes and wraps her arms around her father in a hug. She looks at him."I love you papa. I only hope that he isn't expecting perfection." She smiles and they walk out. Her feet are still bare and her father clears his throat."You should put shoes on songbird. He is a god you know. It isn't like we know what he thinks about bare feet."

Cicely looks at her dad and rolls her eyes. She doesn't disobey and sits on a root and puts her sandals on. Once done they head towards the temple.

Maura noticed the god's amused expression and came out of her own little world a little bit. Perhaps he thought she was weird. Heaven knows most of the people of her tribe did. "I apologize if I seem a bit odd, and if I do anything too unladylike please do tell me. I can be a bit oblivious at times." The blonde laughed nervously before glancing back down at her feet. She certainly hoped she wouldn't have to wear those monstrous feet restraints again. Ladylike or not they took away the real feel of everything around her. Quietly, the girl glared at the shoes she had thrown off before rocking from her toes to her heel trying her best to memorize the texture.

Maura's analysis stopped soon after its beginning, however, as she noticed the god wander towards the staircase. Well she had asked for him to start and she'd follow. There a bit of relief when she heard him say she could call him his name. For whatever reason she had been holding due to politeness. As bold as she may have been, Maura knew her limit and a god's name was not something you should throw around so easily. Her relieved smile quickly faded though as she heard him finish his sentence. The word 'us' made her twitch a bit. She was to be married to him. It was expected that she was his bride. And yet that one word made her realize she didn't belong to herself. She belonged to a man and not just any man but a god. Her body was his and yet she hardly knew him.

Nervously, the girl bit her lip and took his hand as she followed him giving only a silent nod as her answer. Her face had turned a dark maroon and her confident eyes now hid behind her bangs for protection. She was afraid they would give something away. He was powerful. A god. And she was a plain awkward individual with a rather unfeminine body. As interesting as she may have seemed to him it was for her personality and not her looks. Was she really okay for him? Realizing how far in thought she must have been, Maura risked a glance up at Kelios and thought for something to destroy the silence. "You think they'll have a pool in there? I may not look it but I can hold my breathe for eight minutes under water, though being under without fish will be odd." She was an idiot. She looked stupid and now she even sounded stupid. The minute she found alone time she would bang her head into a wall.

The goddess's reply to his question didn't do anything to soothe Seryth's irritation. He wished she would give him a task to do to at least take his mind off of his terrible situation. If she wouldn't have sex with him and get it all over with, the least she could do would be to take him to the place they would be living. He felt it inappropriate to wander about her personal home, but in a shared one, perhaps it would be easier to adjust to the change. Even if he was still stuck with this woman at least he had a chance to put himself more at ease.

We wasn't surprised that she had noticed his disdain for her. Though he had acted the respectful pawn, he had never been one who was good at hiding his displeasure. He wasn't completely sure of how to answer her, but was given time when she again retreated into her bedroom by herself. Surely telling her the truth would invoke her anger, and that was something he could not afford. He was there to protect his people, and he would bend to her whim if it meant that his family and his Emily were safe from her wrath.

"With the utmost respect, my lady, whether or not I like you is not a factor. I am here to fulfill my obligation and to protect my people."

"Don't piss me off or you might just get burned.

Frowning, she was not pleased with the answer he just gave her. "That is not what I asked you. If this is going to work, I am going to need honest answers from you. Do not beat around the bush with me. I don't like it when people play games." She said with a smile but her voice was like venom. "Now please go get my bags from the closet." She said firmly to him as she looked at him before turning her head away from him. Of course she will get the most difficult person as a sacrifice. Kiara had a feeling that the guys might have it a little easier than she did and quite frankly she wasn't up for the challenge if he was going to do that. Her anger was not something he should toy with and he was walking in a tightrope with that shitty answer he gave her.

Maybe she should just have sex with him and get it over with. Then it hit her and she looked at herself in the mirror. Guys were all the same. They are manipulative when they want something and he was probably purposely trying to make her mad so they can have sex and he cam go back to his life. Well that wasn't going to happen anytime soon. As punishment, he will be at the mansion a little longer than she planned him to be. She was going to do it tomorrow and let him go the same day but he just ruined his chance of going home. No man was going to make a fool out of her. Not if she can help it anyways. "They are all the same." She said softly as she calmed down her nerves some before she whistled for charm to come in the room so they can get ready to go.

"I have had enough of my home for a while. Time to meet the other Gods and their ummm...brides." She said with a slight smirk as she waited for Seryth to come out of her closet. He can kick rocks for all I care at least the rocks would give me a better response and interact with me a little more. "I hope this mansion have a jacuzzi. I cant wait to soak or a pool. I need some exercise." She said to charm as she sat on the edge of the bed.
