"You've conquered fire, you've conquered ice, you've tasted blood, you've taken life. You're here
because you're one of us." - The Gears, Dethklok
The utter exhaustion of the last couple days weighed heavily on the group. Even Sam's normally energetic hair lay in limp layers upon his shoulders as he offered his services as grave digger. All Camille had to do was relinquish a shovel and it could have been done, but rather she insisted that they go the more grotesque route of feeding the man's corpse to 'Rupert'. Not only did she name her plants, but she fed them with visitors to her home. As much as it was a disturbing thought, she was right. There was no reason that they should risk leaving a trail when they were so weak and highly sought after. Sam and Camille picked up Ward's limp body and made their way toward the rear of the house.
Tabor didn't make eye-contact with either of them as they crossed him to make their way toward the backyard. Everyone was quiet, the only sounds audible to anyone were muffled footfalls and dripping from the bathroom that Jeremy was occupying and much less subtley, the squishy chomping as Rupert hungrily chowed down on Ward's remains. Tabor cringed at the sound of bones breaking and flesh tearing, the acidic bubbling of the young man's dead body from within the carnivorous plant was almost enough to make him sick right then and there. At least the uncomfortable churning in his stomach was enough to keep him from bothering Camille for a meal at least for a few hours. He stood by Phoenix, giving in to the undeniable feeling that she was just about the only person in the room that didn't hate him at that exact moment. He made a mental note to lock the door tonight before settling into sleep, should anyone feel the need to heroically take out the cold-blooded killer while he was resting.
Sasha stood off to the side, her arms crossed and brow furrowed. It was getting out of hand, it was never supposed to be like this. She was mentally strategizing a plan to separate the group. She needed the ones she trusted to stick together so she could keep an eye on those who were more risky. Her dark eyes swiveled in the direction of Phoenix and Tabor. They were oddly quiet, especially from what she had read about the Fire User's famous mouth in her file. Something she hadn't read about was the apparent closeness between Phoenix and Tabor, it may prove problematic later on but for now she would allow them to remain together. There was work that needed to be done before she could begin implementing her final blow against the Organization. They were a very loosely held together group as far as she could tell. Serena wanted to leave as soon as any threat befell her beloved Kolby, Phoenix looked perpetually pissed off, Tabor apparently just got angry and killed people, and Jeremy seemed on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The others of the group seemed equally as oblivious and headstrong. Samiel, for instance, was all too eager to help but would more likely than not end up dying a reckless death. Their host, Camille, seemed to be a strong woman but there was something off-putting about the convenience of her sudden appearance in their lives. With Lana and now Ward dead, the group was dwindling down to its core. Good.
"Phoenix, you must be confused about all this..." Sasha began in an exasperated tone, realizing that she would need to re-explain everything to the Fire User. It was getting so tedious that she wished she just carried around a manuscript of the operation and handed it out to every new User she encountered.
"Basically you, me, Serena and Jeremy are wanted by the corrupt government or something for...I guess being a nuisance. They were tracking us, probably still are and I guess they want to kill us or something. It's the same people who had you at the facility, you probably know more than we do." Tabor said, hitching up his jeans and resting his thumbs in the belt loops. The silence that followed was welcome. It might have been briefly awkward but at least it indicated that Rupert was done disposing of their unwelcome companion. "Sasha worked for them at one point but got away to get to us. I really don't know the details..." His voice suggested that perhaps Sasha didn't either. Really, she had told them very little and had just hoped they would follow her on good faith. So far, it had worked.
